Didn't get called back until an hour after my scheduled appointment. Then we waited and waited. We were told that there was some sort of issue Dr. Thomas needed to deal with. My guess is that they say this to everyone when things are running behind. I finally got called back to the surgical room and was prepped. Dr. Thomas got me in and out of surgery in about 20 minutes. We then waited for around 30 minutes for some post-op information about follow on appointments and care. Lots and lots of waiting. All told, we were there for about 3.5 hours for a 20 minute procedure. All the doctors, nurses and techs were awesome. Very friendly. The front desk clerks weren't very personable, but they weren't rude either. Their lack of enthusiasm didn't impact the rating. Good experience overall.

Turns out what was causing me grief was actually a precancerous lesion, since removed, and I've got validation that I know myself better than what a urinalysis proves to be. This issue has gone on for some time, I've had multiple Dr's prescribe meds for me over the last 20 yrs. As a medical professional I can say without doubt that Dr Thomas is an outstanding physician, mento to residents, and God send to his patients. He actually cares!

Chet, the PA that saw me, was super professional and knowledgeable, and has a great name! :-) After feeling like I had a complete and useful visit, I looked at my watch and it was 35 minutes after my scheduled time! Note that on my last attempt to see an ENT (not here), it was more than 35 minutes before they even realized that I got tired of waiting and left. Oh, and very friendly staff in general. Although many men are uncomfortable talking about prostate health, it's something they should eventually get checked, especially once they reach their mid 40's or if they have a family history of prostate cancer. Unfortunately, the only way to physically perform a prostate check is a digital exam right up the old backside. And I can tell you right now that I was certainly not looking forward to it. Thank goodness for a friend's recommendation to see Dr. Montgomery. Dr. Montgomery is board certified in urologic surgery and sees both male and female patients of all ages. She works out of Ochsner Hospital and her staff almost never runs behind (no pun intended) schedule. In fact, once I check in with the receptionist, I almost always get called to the back at the exact time my appointment is scheduled for. Once in the back, an always friendly nurse gathers my vitals and puts me in my assigned room; and Dr. Montgomery is usually shows up a few minutes later. Dr. Montgomery is very personable and I have never felt rushed while I was seeing her. She is very attentive and takes her time to thoroughly answer any and all questions that you may have. The actual physical examination is done with dignity and there is no need to even don a gown. Furthermore, it is done relatively quickly and with minimal discomfort. And if you ever have to have any blood work done, she is quick to get your results back. Another plus that I enjoy is that she actively monitors her emails via the "My Ochsner" portal and answers them in a very timely fashion. In fact, she answers so timely, that it is a little like getting a "house call". As stated before, Dr. Montgomery sees both male and female patients. So all you guys out there who have a history of prostate cancer in your family, or are at the age where you should get an annual prostate exam, stop procrastinating and get it done. I can absolutely recommend Dr. Montgomery and urge you not to be shy about seeing a female urologist. Her skills and demeanor are second to none, she follows up on all her calls & emails and gets you any lab results in very timely manner. Lastly, and also very noteworthy is that she has very small fingers. And that my friends is very important! But seriously, take care of yourselves and be proactive about your health.

I've never really enjoyed going to doctors offices. You have to make the appt waaaaaay in advance, fill out a ton of paperwork, and then seemingly wait forever while the doctor meets with you for all of 90 seconds. When I moved back to NOLA, I decided to try and find a doctor which bucked that trend. I did my research online and found this guy through the GLMA website. I called and made an appointment for a new patient. It was a 1.5 month wait which was actually better than I expected based on my experience with doctors in the DC area/Montgomery County. Anyways, Dr. Bowers and his staff were patient, compassionate, and listened to my questions and concerns. I really liked how nothing felt rushed and I was able to get all the information I needed. His nurse was really nice and helpful as well, advising me on the best way to book appointments in the future when I needed them (I'm sooooo bad with names, otherwise I'd mention it). I also like how, like many other practices, they send prescriptions electronically, so there is one less piece of paper to lose. I'm really happy to have finally found a PCP that I'm comfortable with and isn't a total PITA to access, even when you take into account the drive over the CCC (ugh).
