After two months we finally got an instructor only to find out they cannot due the schedule we originally planned 2 days before the lesson. Still no idea where to pay, where to show up, or anything to give us some information. None of the staff is helpful, they cannot communicate well, and are full of excuses. If you are looking for Music lessons for your child, go somewhere with better communication.

I'm somewhat of a regular to IUPUI men's basketball games for quite a few years now. This is my…read morefirst time commenting on their very humble facilities for a NCAA Division I school. Their sports are for profit in the over all institution of a non-for-profit school and hospital complex. I just wonder how the heck they expect to turn one in that 1960's era gymnasium. It kind of feels like I'm watching high school all-stars here and you don't actually appreciate sometimes that these guys are big time hoopers, if not hoops stars. They've made some nice upgrades to the seats to make actual, well, seats, replacing the old gymnasium style stands. They still fold up and go against the wall. They don't seem like they were desinged for anyone over average weight. I haven't seen any of them break, but they will bend and groan every once in a while. IUPUI is an intersting team to watch play men's basketball. The frenetic pace of Coach Ron Hunter's constant motion offense, his animated barking and pacing on the sideline, and the barrage of three point shots make this type of team more like Loyala Marymount circa1989, but actually playing defense. (Anyone remember Paul Westhead's defensiveless Denver Nuggets experiement?) The interesting thing about Coach Hunter is he very rarely goes after the officials, but constantly after his players for putting themselves in position to make a referee a factor of the game. He believes that perfect execution is possible and he gets after players for being out of position, not understanding the situation, and taking poor shots. You will quickly get yanked out of a game, and if you're in his doghouse, forget about playing time till next year. I saw a freshman named George Hill who got his first action of the season (as a true freshman) and got pulled in less than two minutes because of what most would call a freshman mistake (a turnover of some sort I can't recall the specifics.) He never got back in that game until the second half. He eventually made it to the NBA. Made a boatload of money. The biggest annoyance, and borderline ripoff, that IUPUI athletics should seriously reconsider, is the fact that you pay for parking in a pretty old and cold garage and walkway. Granted, it is just three dollars this year, but I have paid as much as ten in the past. I thought at the time that that some of the parking attendants might be pocketing some of the money because there was no parking sticker or receipt issued to me until this year, and the attendents are different and in uniform. Anyway, paying for parking is a deterrent for someone to attend a basketball game. I would choose a place to park for free, i.e. the city streets near Hinkle Fieldhouse to watch a game given the admission prices were roughly the same (plus they have an awe inpiring venue.) Also, another deterrent for me is the price of their concessions. The prices are waaay out of line for the quality of their food. Yes the hot dogs are big, but not four dollars big. And $3.50 for a dasani is highway robbery. Here's the real kicker: They sell candy at the concession stand, but the candy in the vending machines around the corner is about half of what they charge. Popcorn is outrageously expensive whether at a theater or ball game, so I don't really flinch at that price. But there is no way that two hot dogs, popcorn, M&M's and Dasani should have set me back $18.50!?!?! So much for father and daughter time on the cheap. Unfortunately, in cold, snowy Indiana, basketball is the only thing we have to keep us sane. So to keep my wits and because of my genuine love of college basketball I will continue to pay through the nose to go to games. But maybe my frequency will be reduced until many of the small and mediocre college's realize that making money at college athletics at the expense of athletes' bodies really is a (socially) poor business model.

My freshman year I was immediately drawn to the internally produced TV show. I got in and was mentored by a junior at the time who was a part of the original tv crew (it had just started a year or two before me). I soon took over co-producing the show and after my mentor left I was the producer and editor of the show. I also ran all of the AV for the liturgies, pep rallies and DJ'd most of the dances with my two best friends. Why am I telling you this? By the time I was a Junior I had a job working for Markey's AV. I started my career in Technology when I was 15 because the opportunities at Chatard. My story is unique for sure but the staff at Chatard supported me and helped me grow as a young man. On other notes not related to my career. I was and am not Catholic. Even though it is required to take a religion class every year I was not pressured in any way to take on their beliefs. I treated it as a history class. What was so amazing was that the Senior religion class was world religions. I always thought this was such an amazing things for them to do. And if you were a student there from the late 70's to the mid 2000's you had Mr. Powell as your teacher. I bet there are 1,000's of adults that when asked who is the one teacher that left a mark on you would say Mr. Powell. He was definitely mine. * The main reason my parents chose Chatard was their English program for kids with learning disabilities. I was diagnosed with ADD at a young age in the 80's. This program and the absolutely amazing teachers supported learning techniques for students with these issues. We were in our own small 6 student classroom for 2 periods of the day instead of being in the general English class. After 2 years of this program I was able to return back to the regular class. I will never forget how much that helped me in my learning through my entire life. Over the years I came back and volunteered time teaching students in the TV show program, photography in art class. I have donated art for the auctions and more. Why because I love this school. I could go on and on for ever about my experiences here. I will always be a Trojan!! And if any staff read this, I am always willing and able to volunteer. I have spent the past 22 years in the advanced technologies and engineering, photography and videography.

The real reason I review this place is the Monday and Wednesday night ZUMBA classes held in the…read moregym! The instructor (Jessica Daughtery who is also married to Chatard's basketball coach) is amazing! I have tried out Zumba at other locations and with other instructors but no one can stack up to her classes! She is awesome, energetic, inspiring, super friendly and the best part is she offers one of the most competitively priced clases. Five dollars a class or a 5class punch card for only $20! The schedule changes during the school year but right now her classes are being offered from 7:30pm to 8:30pm every Monday and Wednesday nights. The music is less latino and more hip hop/top 40 and is one of the reasons I love it so much. You don't have to be coordinated or know any dance steps. A few classes and you will fit right in. Age ranges from middle school kids all the way to senior citizens and even a few male participants here and there. Most are college/recent grad aged. As far as the school, Tuition here is about 8000-10000 a year per student with a discount for multiple children going at the same time. It's centrally located, has a great sports program, and has a pretty good reputation.There are about 600-700 students who attend school here. Zumba is held either in one of the gyms or the cafeteria downstairs. All are well kept and clean.

Everything was pretty easy from parking to setting up my table inside the Campus Center. The signage was great, especially since my gps was acting up and I was just going off my 10-year old memory of where stuff is. I had a lot of great interaction with students and I'll definitely be back for upcoming recruitment fairs. It looks like there's been a refresh to campus (at least the campus center) since I was a student a long time ago, but it looks nice. I visited the coffee shop inside the campus center and got a snack from the little convenience store on my way out. Everything was very convenient. From what I could tell, you do most of your ordering at the coffee shop/restaurants at a kiosk and then pick it up when it's ready. That's definitely different but I can get on board with that model of service.

There were no bleachers set up on the same level as the game. They offered concessions which had some good choices and fair pricing, they also took cashapp which was a plus. I got a hot dog and hot cheetos. I enjoyed my hot dog. It was grilled and tasted really pleasing, I was surprised since it came from concessions.
