I give it an average star rating because these days is just a costly version of any typical, yet capable public school with the addition of arrogance in their approach.

I've often tried to sift through all our years and determine what they most learned/received at Orchard and if I had to pick one attribute (and there are many), I'd pick confidence. They are all confident public speakers. For example, when my daughter was a junior in high school, she won an award that required her to speak at a dinner with over 400 people present. I tried several times to get her to practice and review her speech in advance, knowing that the previous recipient had a professional speech writer. In frustration, one evening she said, "Mom, I went to Orchard. Don't worry." She delivered a flawless speech without notes. They are all confident about their ability to learn. Orchard likes to say they help create lifelong learners and they do. Each of our children knows how to learn and they like to learn. They are all confident expressing themselves to anyone. In high school, their teachers observed that unlike many shy teens they were not afraid to ask questions and advocate for themselves or for others. And, this has continued throughout their college and post-graduate years. Orchard invites and teaches children how to respectfully approach adults. At Orchard, education is not just about science, English, history, etc. While these are important, it's also about helping develop good people and preparing them for the future.

Doors are labeled and easily visible. Cash only for admission, 6$ a person for entrance. I was told I had to walk upstairs to get into the main gym where the game was being played. I liked that I was able to walk down to the bleachers on the main floor for better viewing. I noticed that concessions were still being set up at that time. The game was early, at 9am, so I brought my coffee from home and I was able to bring it in with me so I opted out on concessions. Overall, the gym looks taken care of and it's decent size.

A high school experience should be fun and exciting. The work overload and constant pressure to succeed makes even waking up for school feel impossible. The assistant principal, Mr Day, constantly bullies and picks on students and targets them for absolutely no reason. Never would i have ever thought I would wake up and be crying most mornings because of the dread of just walking into the school. Us students constantly feel watched over for every little thing we do and we should absolutely not be feeling this way as kids. Please do your children a huge favor and never bring them here. Mr day has, on multiple occasions, illegally terrorized students causing three lawsuits against the school. I am so disappointed that my high school experience has been ruined by attending here. This does not feel like a public school, more like an extremely strict private school (or jail). I am so glad to finally be graduating and moving on to a school that will not leave me feeling this way.

Weekly visits needed addressing their incompliances requiring major clarifications on a regular basis due to their mismanagement and lack of communication. nothing adds up, always something unethical and your children come home saying they are glad to be home and out of prison. Make sure you have $ too. The kids and parents who don't, are treated differently. Wolves in sheep clothing, lack of parental and child support and resources. Teaching our children is a calling and a privilege, not a back up plan. Their indifference is showing. My children loved learning, they no longer do. Watching their light disappear while they box themselves in survival mode as they enter the building is enough.

Our public schools have been educating kids who want to learn for decades and I don't think there is anything wrong with public schools. Delaware Trails Elementary is a great example of great public schools... and Brownsburg's school system overall is outstanding. This is what I remember about public schools: Kids that were happy and proud of their school; Teachers who care about their kids and cry when they move on to the next grade, even though their proud of 'em; Making friends on the bus; Joking about how bad lunch is even though it was fine; and First class education. Delaware Trails reminds me of everything I loved about my public school and even does things much better than my old public school could ever do. I am so glad I decided to send my child here to the school her neighbors attend. Only drawback, Brownsburg's schools are all in the city limits, so it is quite a drive from my unincorporated Hendricks County development. But for my daughter to have such a great public school experience, minor, very minor. Very happy with Delaware Trails Elementary Go Bulldogs!
