From the…read morefront desk staff, to the amazing hygienist, to the office itself, to of course Dr. VanCamp....I am impressed and grateful every time I go. I chose this practice because I saw they clean with ozone and don't use fluoride, both of which align with my perspective on health. But there are so many other unexpected benefits. I discovered they have a laser that treats cold sores. And not just treats...kills! Like, cures them. I've suffered from them my whole life and always understood that it would be that way forever. But they have this laser that, if you have an active cold sores, knocks it out and kills the virus for good in that spot, never to return again. I just got a giant one about a week and a half ago and went in to try it for the first time. The next day it was practically gone. I kid you not. If you've ever had these you know they last for weeks and it's a whole process of sadness, ugliness, and pain before they go away. Not this time. Because it was so big they invited me to come back the next day as well to zap it one more time. But by the third day, it was just a scab. Like a cut that was healing. 5 days later it was like it had never happened. Literally no sign of it. But the most amazing part is to think that it will never appear in that same place again. That after a lifetime of suffering through these there is an end in sight. I couldn't be more grateful. The laser was painless and quick. I was in and out both times in a half hour. Miraculous. Then yesterday I had a filling replaced. I'm a baby when it comes to dental pain and have had some trauma in the past and even the sound of the drill tends to trick me into feeling pain. Dr. VanCamp and Jose reassured me it would be quick and easy. And it was. In five minutes he had the filling out and in ten more had finished replacing it. Even the shot of local anesthesia was painless. I still couldn't even tell you if he worked on my top or bottom teeth. It was that painless. And afterwards I didn't have that droopy numb mouth sensation. Just absolute elite level perfect care. So far I've had two cleanings, a filling replaced, and the cold sore zapped. Each experience has convinced me more and more that I will never look for another dentist. And if you're looking for one, look no further. This is the one. 10/10.

They told me I have to do a bunch of unnecessary procedures that my previous dentists never had. I also consulted with another dentist after and they confirmed these procedures were excessive and not necessary. After a series of conversations, the quotation proposal was changed dramatically to 50% of the original, which made me question the honesty of their price. I tried to continue to work with them by requesting a basic service. But they refused to provide any. Instead, they claimed due to their clinic standard, they only had a more advanced service which will take more money out of my pocket after my insurance coverage. In the end, they pushed me away to see another dentist, which made me feel very disappointed and frustrated. It's the opposite experience than I expected when I saw such a high score on Yelp and Zocdoc. I'd like to warn potential patients, please compare the prices with other institutions before you say yes, you probably only need to pay half of it.

They said they would reach out and they never did. I had just had a baby and some 10 months went by and I realized I needed a cleaning. Service: They told me my crown needed to be replaced even though it wasn't hurting me. Fine. I paid the $800+ and they replaced my crown. I've never had such a painful crown replacement in my life. I couldn't chew for almost a week after. Quality: Ever since I had the crown replacement I've had worsening pain in that area. I reached back out for an appointment. However, because my job only really allows me to go in on Monday or Friday they basically ghosted me. I guess they are booked on Monday and Wednesday in perpetuity.

She began by greeting me at the waiting room door, which was just lovely, and apologizing that circumstances brought me to her. In the exam room, my records were already up; she asked questions about my experience thus far; and every step of the way explained what she was doing, clarified why she was proceeding as she was, and ensured that I was okay--all with a confidence, calmness, compassion, and subtle humor that made me feel like I was getting the world's best treatment (which I may, indeed, have gotten). In my experience, a cleaning with X-rays and exam has never cost more than $250 at other dentists in San Francisco. The hygienist mentioned she works at multiple offices, and initially introduced herself on behalf of another dentist. So for this excessive cost you are getting a cleaning by someone who is not a full-time employee. During my visit, the dentist strongly encouraged me to get composite veneers, using sales tactics that felt inappropriate for a medical setting. For example, he commented, "If I were to look at your teeth I would think they are women's teeth." While I understand cosmetic dentistry is an option, I believe such decisions should be presented neutrally and left to the patient. I chose Dr. Arabatyan due to quick availability, but my experience did not meet expectations. Edit: Dr. Arabatyan replied below that most of this is covered by insurance. This deflects from the main issue. Yes, it is covered, but dental insurance has a maximum spend. This eats up a decent chunk for a routine visit. I do not care about this bill or whether insurance covers it not - I am here to call out bad behavior by the doctor in terms of pushing cosmetic procedures, and over-billing for routine cleaning/x-rays. Dr. Khosh was able to get me in for an extraction that same Friday, which I really appreciated. The extraction itself was painless, quick, and done very carefully. What stood out the most to me was that Dr. Khosh personally called me afterward to check in and see how I was feeling. That level of care is rare and made a big difference. Not only is Dr. Khosh great, but the entire staff is as well. The front desk, hygienist, and dental assistants were all attentive, kind, and professional. They will gouge you of your money if you're not careful & if they find out your dental insurance covers a high percentage of services when you don't need it. I got a second opinion from my usual dentist after sending my X-rays to them & they informed me I actually didn't need the filling, Mont Dental will do anything to try to get your money. They'll sell you a mouth guard when you can get one elsewhere for a way more affordable price & despite politely declining, they will push you to sign a paper to try to get you to be responsible to pay for it anyways, I knew to decline that as well. Just walk away. Otherwise, They will have you do unnecessary scans & upsell services to you claiming the benefit for you but it's just to get your dental insurance to pay more. They'll even upsell services not covered under insurance and tell you no insurance covers those services but you'll "need" it. If you want to get upsold and scammed for unnecessary dental services, this is the place for you. My original dentist is in Berkeley & I'd rather pay the toll fee than come back here ever again.
