Stayed here on business earlier this week and as much as the interior looks swanky enough in the reception and the bar and that, the bedrooms could do with a good facelift - they're all old-fashioned, dark wood and burgundy. Pretend mahogany, I think that's what it is.
It was £119 for bed and breakfast, the former being rock hard and the latter being pretty tasty. We ate in the restaurant too - pretty expensive, but not too bad. I had broccoli and lemon thyme soup (couldn't taste much of the lemon thyme, like), followed by ham hock and creamy mash, and an apple and calvados tarte tatin. We also shared a bottle of rioja that set us back £18 but tasted like it should've been only a fiver. The service was shoddy too, now I think of it - there were a number of dishes not on the menu, and rather than tell us that first, our waiter painstakingly took each order and then told each of us that our choices weren't available. He also took 25 minutes to determine that one of the desserts we ordered wasn't on the menu which made my colleague very grumpy.
