I'm not sure what the hype is about... I recently dined at Thida Thai's new location with my parents. I haven't eaten at this restaurant several years, so I am basically treating this experience like it's my first time there. Firstly, service and staff are very friendly and attentive. The ambience and decor was also very well put together, so no complaints there. I guess my biggest qualm with this place is that I felt like the flavors of every dish we ordered seemed a bit off. Keep in mind that I am VERY picky with Thai and Lao restaurants, as I am Lao and used to eating the authentic stuff. I ordered Lad Nah, and I wasn't crazy about the flavor because it was too sweet and had sesame oil in it, which is not common. Also, instead of Chinese broccoli, it had carrots and cabbage?? I don't know... My mom ordered Pad Kee Mao (drunken noodles) and it was made without Thai basil, which is the star ingredient of Pad Kee Mao in my opinion. Pad Khing (ginger stir fry) was also too salty. My parents took a chance and ordered creme brulee for dessert, and the risk definitely did not pay off. Underneath the torched crust topping was a mushy pudding with whipped cream on top. Meh. Like I said, all the Thai food seemed off, like the flavors have been adjusted from the traditional Thai palette. I haven't tried the sushi, but I suppose that will be my next venture, as I'm not inclined to eat Thai food here again. read more

One of the better choices for sushi as well as Thai food in Smyrna. They have moved almost steps away from their previous location, which has bigger dining space. Their lunch rush is pretty busy days as there are many healthcare professionals on their lunch break (the hospital is right across the street). I'm actually extremely sad that the taste and quality of their food has downgraded as they have changed head chefs. Their menu hasn't changed but I feel like they have generally moved from traditional thai food to a more fast food-like place (which can be great for their lunch rushes). Their prices are pretty high for the area that they are located as well. I definitely go back often to eat but the prices and food quality are the main reasons why I don't go more than often. read more

Was in the area so decided to try it out. Food was ok, not super flavourful. Service was prompt. Dishes needed more flavour.

We ordered in through Door Dash instead of going out for dinner. The food was prepared and delivered pretty fast. We ordered Red Curry entree and Tom Yum soup, and it was tasty. I wish there was a way through the ordering app to indicate how spicy we wanted our food, but there wasn't so it came through without any heat. But the worst part was the fact that both my wife and I got sick and spent the next day running to the restroom. read more

Recently changed owners, and the previous owners would have gotten a solid 5. The new management is nice and they have gotten back into the groove of things. The Pad Thai is decent (hard to mess that up) and the Lo Mein is delicious. Lunch can get crowded past noon, so plan accordingly. The new staff can sometime be slow when it's busy, but overall, we keep going back, so it must be good, right?? The lunch special is an amazing deal. You get a soup, small appetizer, and then your entree for less than $8 AFTER TAX. They rotate soup and appetizers on different days, which is a nice change of pace. I was working at a datacenter for one of my clients, and their network folks recommended we go eat here. I was skeptical -- I've been all over the place and have had good thai, and I didn't expect to find some in this area (even though some of the best I had was in the middle of Nowhere, VA). I was totally surprised. The pad thai (extra vegetables, tofu, five stars) was among the top 10 I've ever had. I like my pad thai on the sweeter and saucier side. The sauce was the perfect blend of savory, sweet, and sour, which is what good pad thai sauce really is. It was brimming with vegetables, and it was piping hot when it came out. Although ordered five stars, it came out a solid three.... but not disappointed at all. The complimentary vegetable fried spring roll was mediocre. The soup was also mediocre. Overall, good food, good service. Spicy creamy tuna and spicy tuna mango roll are delicious. Couple of suggestions: 1. ahi poke to-go, pack the shrimp chips separately so they don't get soggy in the sauce. Some daikon would've added texture and cut the sweetness 2. Was excited they now have bubble tea. A bit too sweet and tapioca balls were too soft, there was no chew to them, which is part of the enjoyment for me. 3. pork rice soup, a tad bit too salty. It wasn't very full for lunch despite having to circle the lot for a parking space. We entered and were seated within 3 mins. The one or two servers were working all of the tables it seemed so it took a while to get our drink and food order. I asked about their bubble tea menu since they had a big sign on the front door. I was told they had no one there to make it??!! What kind of sense does that make?!! We ordered the veggie jasmine fried rice and veggie cashew stir fry. In the meantime, we were served a rice and chicken soup in which I'm a vegetarian and couldn't eat it. The food came out not too much later. The fried rice was a good sizeable portion while I felt the cashew stir fry portion was a bit lacking. Both were decently good. The eggs in the fried rice were slightly burnt. The server barely came around to refill drinks or ask how the food tasted. I would have liked some Hoisin sauce but she disappeared so much. While the experience is slightly different (since we're not in the jungle and all), Thilda Thai perfectly replicates the INCREDIBLE food I had in Thailand! We really enjoyed this place. Food was fresh and delicious. We had the tiger tears salad and it is frankly one of the best we've ever had. Very flavorful and well proportioned. I had the Pad Phed with pork and again it was very flavorful and delicious. Only one down note: we had a party of 6 and they added an automatic 18% gratuity. Too bad because the service was great and I would have tipped 20% had it not been automatically added in. I understand adding it in on large party's of 10, 12 or more but 6.. really? Great restaurant very authentic, I have been here many times with others and by myself. Huge menu ranging from sushi to pho. Great selection of imported beers, I would highly recommend the steamed potstickers for an appetizer!! Very small hole in the wall place, wait stuff is okay not great. The food definitely makes up for anything the wait staff lacks! The pho is amazing very flavorful, the papaya salad is off the hook, weather you like it Thai style or Laos style both are very good. I've been meaning to try this place for a while, since it's right by my house...I don't know enough about Thai food, and as if trying to prove this, I overspiced my Pho to the point that I couldn't eat it. It looked great and awesome and I'm sad about it so I'll be back to try it again. My Thai iced tea was soo good though. My boyfriend got the Chicken Delight (which we split cause I suck at Pho) and it was great, had a sweet smoky flavor. The place itself is small and clean and too quiet. Their fresh rolls with plum sauce are amazing and every dish I have had I liked. The only reason they get a 3 is because every time I've ordered more than one dish and the spice level was different for the different dishes they would mix them up and put the wrong spice level on each. They've done this three times out of the 4 times I've ordered. Reply to Alex: my favorite dish so far is the sweet and sour with chicken! I love that it has pineapple in it!
