I ordered the fried egg-rolls and shrimp fresh rolls "Thai-zers" for dine-in and a Gang Jued soup to-go for later. The egg-rolls were nice and hot and the fresh rolls were deliciously crisp and fresh. Before heading out I had a little taste of the Gang Jued and it was spot on. Just had to add a little Thai chili to spice it a tad. They no longer have chicken satay on the menu. Might have to see if they can still prepare it next visit. I visited Lil Thai Cafe on Tuesday, February 9, 2021 around noon. After checking out the highly raved Yelp reviews and having it shown on my list of suggested places, I thought it was time for a first visit. My first impression of this cafe was that it certainly lives up to the name: a small dining area with a limited number of tables, and a limited menu compared to an actual Thai restaurant. However, I think this cafe offers most, if not, all of the authentic Thai classic dishes. The papaya salad looked really dark, which was a strong indication that the papaya had too much crab paste. After tasting it, I was disappointed by how fishy it tasted. The papaya salad had severe seasoning issues as it needed citrus from the lime juice to cut the saltiness of the crab paste. I could not take more than a few bites without taking a sip of my water. The salt and pepper squid was fried nicely, but was a little bland and needed more seasoning. The pad Thai was underwhelming as it was too saucy and wet, like a tomato sauce. The noodles are supposed to be coated with the sauce, but not drenched in it. It also tasted bland and lacked the umami flavor that a proper pad Thai should have. Overall, the food was dissatisfying and certainly had significant margins for improvement. Despite being a cafe, the service was okay - friendly, but not as attentive as the server was busy striking conversations with a patron. I am very surprised my experience didn't match the highly raved Yelp reviews. Based on the food alone, I will not be returning to this cafe. I believe there are many other Thai restaurants that serve higher quality Thai food. read more

Hardly any flavor, super watery, and oh so much ginger flavor, it was dominating.
