The property is absolutely stunning, with well maintained grounds, ample parking, a spacious, air conditioned bridal suite with mirrored walls, clothes racks, and an ironing board. The suite even has its own bathroom. The venue has a decent sized dance floor along with enough room inside to seat close to 200 guests. The bathrooms were clean and had multiple stalls to accommodate the ladies. There is also a huge kitchen with a walk in frig that is available for use as part of your rental. We had approximately 250+ guests attend our event and there was plenty of space in the back lawn area for over flow seating. We used the outdoor patio area to set up 4 buffet lines of food. 2 lines for our catered meal, 1 line for kids meal, and 1 line for our cultural foods. The patio area also had ample room for us to place our photo booth there. The back grass and patio area looks spectacular at night with the market lights to add to the festive ambiance. The grounds were large enough to house an adult sized jumper that helped to keep our younger guests entertained. The grass area still had plenty of available space for a corn hole spot, our marquee letter signs and our taco guy we hired to end our night's festivities. Shannon is the property manager, and she is a true gem. She worked tirelessly with us to help obtain all our vendor COIs and was extremely kind to allow us to come the day before our party to drop off our drinks and many party supplies. Anything we needed, Shannon was there to help resolve. She is friendly and professional, with a sense of humor to boot. We received sooo many compliments from our family and friends about how beautiful the venue was. Of course, anyone who dealt with Shannon adored her and her down to earth vibe! We loved that we could bring our own food to the venue without being tied to a set list of food vendors. The bar area was also spacious and the bartender kept the libations flowing all night long. The Optimist Club has 3 belly tables with linens that came with rental of the venue. These worked out fabulously for our guests wanting to hang out by the bar and smoking area. It's kind of an older building that they've revamped a little but it's nice for a neighborhood club. Dinner was started with dinner rolls that were warm and tasty and served with soft butter. Next, we were served a salad, which was good, but mine didn't have enough dressing whilst the person next to me had a lot of dressing. Next, I the filet had ordered the fillet mignon. It came with mashed potatoes and veggies. The fillet was cooked well (perfectly medium rare) with an accompanying sauce that complimented it. The veggies were quite crunchy, but I like my veggies that way, and the mashed potatoes tasted very buttery, which I also like. My one drawback was the strawberry cheesecake. It had a freezer burn taste to it. Otherwise, everything was delicious and the space is quite nice. The service quick and efficient. I would definitely return again if I knew someone who was a member.

He was in a very bad place when he entered Green Oak. It is Christian based and has worked wonders for my son. No more beating himself up for things he has done in the past. Yes there is a lock down period of two months - Yes you cannot have a phone while at the ranch. If you leave the premises you can take your phone for the day. You can work outside the facility after two months. There are random drug tests and when returning from a day out a breathalyzer test. As far as the food - no it is not great but edible. I don't know what people expect when you are paying $750 per month. You get a roof over your head - continual help and sober living. Classes for you to get sober & stay sober. Yes you do have some chores. When my son first arrived he would feed the goats, Tortes, peacock, horses and two pigs and one llama. Not hard work. Animals got fed twice a day and the goats 3x a day. There is also gate duty. He has been working the gate, teaching men how to study for their GED and has found purpose in his life again. It is learning that life is tough and there are restrictions in many things we do - but the rewards are priceless. My son may stay longer than the 9 months - and hopes to find out what he would like to do when his time is up to leave Green Oak. One Day At a Time. Thank you for Giving me My Son back.

We wanted an all included, open bar with beer/wine/and liquor, and for the space to feel intimate. We found all these checklist items with The Slate Barn & Gardens. Our day was beyond beautiful we want to relive it! Ok some details for you brides to be and grooms to be: Emily and her team are so accommodating from start to finish. She handles everything from table set up and venue prep to the center pieces. They have a great selection of candle holders, decor items and linen colors for everyones style. There is a brides suite on the grounds, sorry guys you'll have to chill somewhere else. Its cozy and fit all 9 of us girls in it! THE FOOD. Everyone is still talking about how great the food was. We were so happy with all the different menu options, we were able to accommodate all different types of diets in one swoop. Emily plans all of the venue side of the day, all you bring in your drinks, a DJ and florals. We had the best vendors make our day come to life. We didn't eat on site since we had plan for various places to eat nearby such as Buona (a fresh pasta place) which is next to Wynston's (a local ice cream with delicious local flavor such as roasted pineapple with cinnamon). This place is a good midpoint to Legoland and SD Zoo Safari Park. The only deduction to rating is due to the lacking guest services agent while checking in. The lady manning the counter was not welcoming, no smiles, and seems to just be annoyed. So much for a nice place when the guest services agent doesn't seem happy to welcome eager guests. Was not even offered welcome drink and I didn't bother to ask less getting more attitude.

We tried checking in at 5PM assuming the room was ready since check in time was 4PM and guess what, it's not ready because they are short staffed on a weekend!!! Then the next day when we checked out we also got charged a "room service" fee which was the doing of the previous person who stayed there. Nothing was done on anything and couldn't even waive the resort fee. Total for our stay for the night was $500+ Absolute rip off.
