Ive had TDNE beers at a festival before and can only remember, I cant remember their name. The taproom room is tight. Super open clean and new. Plenty of chairs and tables, not on top of each other. Bar seating as well. Nice wall of taps. The beers are Excellent, high end craft for sure. Good variety from lighter lagers/ pilsners, a Kolch style, west coast and new england ipas that are just killer. Some stouts. Quite a few in cans & bottles. The only thing I didn't understand was why my Kolsch wasn't served in a stange. Was it because I asked for a full pour? Was disappointed in my improper glassware, but now you know Beer Nerd here! This might be a bold statement with other amazing hitters in the region, but I'd argue that There Does Not Exist, or TDNE for short, is hands down my favorite brewery on the central California coast. First, the beer. Such an amazing array of IPAs, hazies, and a few other one off styles (Feathers, Bone Chimes and Eternal Rest is a Horus collab strong ale that is full of flavor), I bet you'll always find something you like. But the best kept secret here are their pretty dang perfect lagers. Each style is distinct from the next, and each brings out different soft, subtle flavors of grain with absolutely no errors. There's NOwhere to hide mistakes in lagers, but that's ok because TDNE makes their lagers with incredible precision. Next up, the taproom. The space is open, large and incredibly inviting. A great place to spend a few hours, get to know other patrons, and sometimes to grab food from a visiting food truck or taco truck. We've met some great people here, and always enjoy our visits. Bathrooms are clean nice as well. Kid and dog friendly too. The staff is friendly and are extra fun people to get to know, from those serving the beer, to the head brewer, and to everyone in between. 1st time here. Got 5 beers. The Skelton tree is top 10 beer of all time for me. The Hazy IPA was also phenomenal as was the oatmeal stout. You can tell that they really care about the quality of their beer. The other 3 ipas were really good. Definitely will be back next time in town. read more

There Does Not Exist is an absolute labor of love for craft beer fans to enjoy on the Central Coast. I've tried many fantastic beers made in this county over many years, but since trying TDNE for the first time in 2020, they absolutely take the cake when it comes to the best varietal beers top to bottom in this county. Max's talent as brewmaker shines with every sip. Whether it's a low ABV Kolsch, a higher ABV IPA, a middle of the road Pale Ale, or even a strong dark ale like Feathers, Bone Chimes & Eternal Rest - everything made here is easily drinkable & enjoyable. Max spent several years earlier in his career within the industry brewing for the county heavyweight at Firestone Walker before starting this brewery where he & his team are now showcasing phenomenal smaller batch craft beers. They have an unassuming micro brewery persona to the naked eye, yet they've collaborated with some large scale breweries in the industry including Cellarmaker, Humble Sea, Green Cheek, Cloudburst, Altamont, Horus Aged Ales, Firestone Walker, Casa Agria, Riip, Everywhere, and Liquid Gravity (another SLO favorite). I personally am a hazy fanatic (I know - eye roll) and I'd argue (biases aside as a big fan & SLO resident) that several of their Hazy IPA's hold a candle to other elite CA breweries known for Hazies. DDH Light Lost, Star God, and Star & Stone are hazy IPA's that I'd put in the same realm + weight class of flavor/balance/velvety mouthfeel as breweries like North Park, Green Cheek, Moonraker, Alvarado Street, Fieldwork, Monkish, and others. It's nice to have the luxury as a SLO resident and to be able to grab fresh IPA's on a draft system of this caliber by just driving 5 minutes from our home. My wife & I also rave about their mastery of simpler, easier drinking beers like their Sowing the Sun Kolsch ($3 on Sunday's!) and their Stag West Coast Pale Ale. Their location on Earthwood Ln matches the unorthodox nature of their name which I find symbolic of their mystique. This is also evident in their branding + marketing approaches. The taproom is perched away from Downtown SLO behind the Trader Joe's parking lot without a formal entry sign. When you enter the taproom it's modern, sleek, minimal, and has it's own simple/refined personality. It trades some cliche items you see at other breweries such as TV's on the wall & trades these items for large murals that match the detailed art you see displayed on their cans. These illustrations to me personally are reminiscent of the upside down in Stranger Things - dark, detailed, and portray elements of the unknown. This is not your average brewery footprint, and I think many local's here have come to love it that way. It's a one of a kind experience where the beer and the purveyors behind it speak for itself. As a local, I couldn't be more thrilled to have discovered TDNE when I did. Many SLO friends of mine share the same sentiment that we're extremely fortunate to have a talented SLO native like Max behind this concept. This is especially true given the lack of this level of operation being available before their existence without having to drive up the Cuesta Grade or down the 101 South. We are extremely thankful for their consistently gracious staff over the years (Mitch, Kelly, so many others) that have poured us (+ our friends & family) many amazing beers with plenty of pillowtops over the years. The welcoming nature of the staff keeps us coming back as much as anything else over the years and speaks volumes to the people they choose to bring in & work behind the counters as part of their family. TDNE has quickly become the gold standard for beer made right here in SLO Proper, and I'm so glad they do exist in this town. I look forward to them carrying forward their well respected flag that they've earned within the craft beer industry as they continue push forward, innovate, and do things their way. TNDE is ALWAYS killing it. The beer here is phenomenal. The space is so clean and relaxing with great music. The staff are always so friendly and knowledgeable on beer. The only thing I've ever been bummed about is that they opened right after we moved from the area. We would have been here all the time, but now we always make them a stop when passing through or staying in town. I'm a big fan of their lagers, saison and mixed-ferm beers, but I've had a few of their IPA's over our visits and they are solid too. I will say the list was pretty IPA heavy overall (5/30/24), but the Magick Makes The Circle saison and 11.5° pilsner were quite solid. Caution: Crushing Hazard was so good, we had to take some home. I'm in the area for a week and this was my first stop. I've been drinking their Memory Machine IPA on tap at The Bistro in Hayward and it's one of my favorites. It's a beautiful looking brew pub. Classy. The beer tender was super friendly and fun to chat with. I got a pint of their Infinite End Cold IPA. It's a lighter, easy drinking style; very tasty. I was a little disappointed that this was the only IPA they had in a 4-pack, as I was looking forward to trying some of the other IPA's. Is it a library or a brewery? My friend P and I (plus another pal) were doing a tour of beer spots around his new home town and we hit TDNE next-to-last. We found a quiet, clean, modern space at the edge of a little industrial park. There was a study group in one corner and several scattered people on laptops and books in another corner. Quietness. We spotted four kinds of wood inlay on the walls and giant murals of modern, black/white psychedelic art. I also caught a European vibe, though I can't pinpoint why. So far so great. There's no food here. But that is advertised up front. It's doesn't feel like a place you hang all afternoon anyway; Just a place to grab one and chat, which is what we did. (Though I wondered if the study group was imbibing; I couldn't do it). As for the beer, I've been a big fan since I discovered them a few years ago. Fantastic. My draft IPA (Two Moon Ritual) was delicious and dank - easily my best beer of the day. I actually stopped by the next day to get some 4-packs to go home with me. What a fun, casual place. I've been here a couple times. It's a must to stop here when I'm down in Mid State. This place is in a small complex with plenty of parking and it's an open suite, plenty of fresh air and lots of places to sit. Both times I've been here, the beer servers have been super friendly and chill. They know a lot about their brews. They always have a good selection of beers, they seem to focus on IPAs which is good for me. But they always seem to have a lighter beer or two on tap that tend to be very crisp and clean. They don't serve food but you can bring stuff in from outside. This is a great place to stop and chill for a bit on a nice lazy afternoon. I will be back for sure. Great job folks. read more

If you like IPAs, this is your brewery. Their ales are widely available in town at bars, pubs, and groceries, but the full rotating selection is always at their pub. They have an amazing, often changing selection that covers the various IPA bases. My favorite in SLO, which says a lot given the quality of the home brews at Antigua, Central Coast, Liquid Gravity, and Libertine. The space is small and intimate, with both indoor and outdoor seating. The location is a bit out of the way, though in a few years it'll be surrounded by housing developments. It's a bit industrial in appearance, and feels more pleasant on a sunny day. No food offered, but you can bring your own. read more

When you make good, quality beer you don't need a lot of hoopla. TDNE gets that. Make quality suds, the rest is minimal. Simple yet so hard to actually pull off. TDNE offers up an array of freshly concocted brews that span the expanse of hoppy to malty to roasty and does all with a nonchalant flare. They allow the product to be the star and build the brand around it, not the other way around. High quality hops to quench your thirst for slurred speech and memorable nights out. read more

Probably the best brewery in SLO with some great merch. If a small batch operation can make a great pilsner, they have it down. As others have noted, the cans are in short supply so grab whatever is available right away and do not wait to close out the tab. It might be gone by then...believe me, it happened. Anything we tried was at There Does Not Exist was top-notch, but unfortunately, they don't do taster flights. Being tourists in the area and driving, we could only do so many 1/2 or full pints. I know that dealing with glassware is a pain but considering that TDNE is gaining quite a reputation in the beer world, it would surely help the brand even more if we could sample as many current offerings as possible, especially since they don't repeat the same beers very often (their words, not mine). SLO breweries deserve a weekend to explore. I'll have to make sure that the next weekend in town includes another visit to TDNE. read more

First visit last night with a group of friends, and I would give TDNE 5 stars for their beer, and the fact that they let you bring in your own food. Unfortunately, the acoustics are terrible. The place has that trendy industrial vibe, with the concrete floor, exposed pipes and high metal ceiling. On this particular night, they had a DJ playing loud music. I actually liked his choice of music. I grew up listening to alternative bands, such as the Clash. But you had to yell at each other to be heard, and the noise and poor acoustics grated on my nerves. We asked the bartender to ask the DJ to turn the volume down a bit, but if he did, we couldn't tell. We probably would have ordered twice as much beer if the atmosphere had been a little better. I would recommend they advertise DJ nights on their website so those of us who want a nice quiet night out with our friends can plan around it. Great beer, though. read more

Went to TDNY last night with a large group of friends. We've been getting together for many years and thought it would be great to try this new place. When I arrived, I was shocked at incredibly loud music being played by a young DJ with headphones on. We asked the bartender and the DJ to turn the music down multiple times. He turned it down slightly for a few minutes, but kept it up. We ended up being the only ones in the bar and it was still impossible to have a conversation without yelling! I'm giving 5 stars and I haven't even been there yet. Anyone who knows "there does not exist" knows what they are doing. Portia my border collie and I will be there next week as we stroll through SLO for about a week or two in our Airstream. So I needed to edit my review. I've been there now. Solid beers, great environment and patio. Even though in all honesty a little too upscale for my tastes when it comes to craft breweries. I like laid back, quasi industrial low overhead type breweries. But that's just me. Great service, great beer, great patio. Nothing wrong with this place! They're right, "there" does not exist. I visited on 12/28 at 2:45, I live down the street in the new Avila Ranch development, i decided to walk down to the brewery to get a beer with my wife and family. Sat down at the counter, my wife asked if there was wine, the lady rudely replied "No, only beer". After a while, she came back and asked us what we wanted, while we were ordering, she was just oddly staring at us. My sister in law asked a question and the lady acted confused and bothered by the question. Once we told her the name of the beer we wanted, she immediately yelled out the price of the beer, and we noticed that she did not do that with anyone else, i purposely observed the lady helping other people. The lady serving us just had a really rude demeanor towards us specifically and no one else.
