Thank you for bringing the American Revolution to life and putting it totally in perspective! I learned SO much myself! Our presenter was Chelsea. She did a magnificent job (2-1/2 hours worth) keeping the kids active and learning! They were cheering ALL throughout the presentation and completely engaged. She had them answering questions, doing battle scenes (which they had practiced beforehand) and getting on a soap-box to present their own specially chosen character. My son was Paul Revere. We dressed him up and he memorized just a few lines that he recited during the 'show'. The kids had a blast, WE ALL learned about the time-line of events, who's who and the meaning of at least 5 of our country's different flags. Awesome. Another point I have to make (being a Christian). Unlike the public schools, California Weekly Explorer Inc kept God in the picture. Many times Chelsea would comment about how different Presidents/Explorers/Important people in history gave God the glory and/or spoke about Him in a 'Let's do what's RIGHT' way. I mean, God IS who our country's founded upon . . . look at the Declaration of Independence etc .. . Anyway, I really appreciated that. Thank you California Weekly!

I wish my daughter did this when she was in the 5th grade. I think this should be requireD for all schools to learn about the American revolution in this setting. They delivered the sign on time that far exceeded my expectations. There was a very minor glitch, two additional grommets on the sign that was not called for and didn't really affect the sign at all. Ivy offered without me asking to redo the sign and ship it to me free of charge and let me keep the first sign with the hiccup. The sign was fine but they were perfectionists and want the customer to be 1000% satisfied. I know this time they did not make much profit if any with all the manufacturer and shipping costs. I was shocked once again when I received the sign how intricately they packaged it. They must have spent at least 20 minutes packing the sign! This tells you that the Ivy and her team really care about their image and they are truly dedicated to the customer experience. It was like unpacking a ceramic bowl! Please do what you do because you do it with humility and candor. You are a diamond in the rough. You are the definition and role model of what a business should be and ought to be. With its name and style of reporting, this publication presents itself as a valid news source. However, it is not. With news publications, there is of course always the element of subjectivity as it is easy for a news source to get the balance wrong in terms of presenting both sides. But they are legitimate as they try to report facts. But this publication unfortunately does not report facts. For example, it is currently and repeatedly claiming the members of a group known as Irvine for Responsible Growth (who are gathering signatures to slow the pace of building within the city) are paid petitioners. It is also claimed that this group is trying to "essentially halt all commercial and residential growth". These claims are completely untrue. The campaign has very little money and so must rely completely on volunteers and is not about stopping growth. Given the positions it has taken, this publication appears to reflect the interests of the Irvine Company - a company privately owned that concentrates on developing real estate - that owns among other things the Irvine Spectrum Center and Fashion Island. It is a shame. Our city of Irvine has a population of over 250,000. We should have a good newspaper covering local issues that is balanced and informative. Regrettably, the Irvine City News takes advantage of this gap. If you can control people's information (even with falsehoods), you can control their choices. That seems to be the goal of this publication. Its goal is definitely not to inform the public and let them decide for themselves.
