Anything less than perfect ratings was not a ringing endorsement for me, so I kept toughing it out until I found myself back in California. Unfortunately, they had grown a bit out of control and I redid my research out of desperation. Not sure why it didn't pop up for me before, but Glow Studio was a diamond in the rough. It had perfect reviews and they seemed like they knew what they were doing. I can, in fact, now confirm that Emily is an absolute goddess and my brows are saved. I got my brows and upper lip waxed for $35, which is pretty standard pricing. The studio is super cute and clean, and it was such a well-cultivated space that I felt relaxed just being there. The process was seamless, and I felt comfortable with Emily doing what she felt was best for my brows. They came out perfectly -- there was clearly cleaning that was done, they're not thin, and the length was maintained. The waxing process took 10-15 minutes and was not painful. I feel the need to talk about Emily, too. First off, she's got the best vibes and is so easy to talk to. She truly knows what she's doing and has your best interest at heart (she will not let you ruin your brows over some ephemeral trend, girlfriend). She thoroughly walks you through the process and explains the whys of things to you (e.g. why you need to avoid retinol and AHAs leading up to a wax sesh). She is so knowledgeable and confident that it's impossible to not trust her. She's so careful and good at what she does, and I can't imagine going anywhere else in this city. I booked online a few days in advance, and it was a straightforward process. You put in a request for when you'd like to come in and then it gets confirmed. Emily personally texted me the morning of with clear instructions on how to get there and was accommodating to me running a few minutes late. There are plenty of other services available, and I'm beyond excited to come back for a facial and more. Cannot recommend Glow Studio enough; am super grateful to Emily for making my entire day, honestly.

I had to wear bandages on my stomach so the blisters didn't leak onto my shirt. I went in twice, concerned, and she assured me it was normal and I should give it time. I didn't go in the sun all summer. Recently I went in for another follow up appointment to discuss options to fix my scars. I was met with a dismissive, defensive attitude and left feeling very uncomfortable. She literally scoffed saying it's hardly a big deal and that my tattoos were the real permanent alterations. She tried to skirt responsibility by accusing me of spending too much time in the sun (I didn't), that my scars were caused because of my skin tone and blue eyes (my eyes are brown), and that I waited too long between appointments (I followed her instructions). She offered to work on the scars, but I eventually decided I didn't trust her to use lasers on my skin again, and will be going to a bigger, more reputable med spa to fix the 6 scars on my stomach. I'm not a stranger to medical spas, so I understand there are risks, but it was ultimately her poor bedside manner and attitude that disturbed me. I struggled with whether or not to write this review, but ultimately I wish I had been warned before trusting her to alter my body.

1/5 -- Extremely disappointing experience with LaserAway St. Louis…read more I gave this location chance after chance, and at this point I genuinely regret spending my money here. I purchased a package of 8 laser hair removal treatments, and for me, the treatments did absolutely nothing. I repeatedly brought up that I was not seeing results, and each time I was basically told they would "keep an eye on it." A manager or someone from the office eventually reached out and told me she would place a note in my chart. That also led to absolutely nothing. No meaningful follow-up, no solution, and no accountability. Unfortunately, my experience with lip filler was even worse. I purchased a total of 2 syringes. During my first syringe, the person performing the injections made me bleed excessively, my lips looked awful afterward, and in my experience, essentially none of that filler seemed to retain. When I went back for the second half of that syringe, I finally had a nurse who actually listened to what I wanted and did what she could with what she had to work with. Because that experience was so much better, I decided to give LaserAway another chance and purchased another syringe. For the first half of my second syringe, I had that same nurse again, and I was happy that she listened to me and understood the look I was trying to achieve. We only used half of the syringe at that appointment so my lips could settle before finishing the rest. Then I returned on August 16 to finish the syringe and, for some reason, I was scheduled with a completely different nurse. I was already nervous because of my first bad experience, but I decided to trust the process again. I specifically explained that I did NOT want my lips to look like a "hot dog," and that symmetry was extremely important to me. Unfortunately, I did not feel listened to at all. The more she injected, the worse I felt my lips looked. I kept explaining that it was not what I wanted, and eventually I told her to STOP halfway through because I did not want it getting any worse. On top of that, I was left with multiple noticeable bumps in my lips after this appointment. Her suggestion to me was that I should have my lips dissolved and then get them done all over again. Excuse me? So after paying for filler, being unhappy enough to stop the appointment halfway through, and being left with bumps in my lips, the solution being suggested was for ME to pay to dissolve the filler and then potentially pay for ANOTHER syringe to start all over again? That is absolutely unacceptable to me. At that point, she apologized and told me she would speak with her manager. I stepped out and waited. Nothing. The front desk told me they would go ask her about it. They came back with no real resolution and told me they would speak to the manager. I explained that I had to leave, and I was reassured that someone would call me. No one called. Then on August 23, I returned for my final laser hair removal treatment, which was also incredibly disappointing. I brought up the situation AGAIN and was told a manager would call me. I specifically told them that I had already been promised that before and no one ever contacted me. Once again, no one called. Since then, I have called multiple times trying to get this resolved and have gotten nothing but the runaround. When I called last week, the interaction was especially frustrating and rude. No one could give me a clear status or explain what was happening. I was told someone would contact me within 48 hours. And, once again, NO ONE CALLED. At this point, my biggest issue is not even one bad appointment. It is the pattern. I paid for laser hair removal that did not work for me. I had a terrible first filler experience. I later had another filler appointment where I repeatedly said I was unhappy with what was happening and ultimately had to tell the injector to stop. I was left with bumps in my lips. I was told to dissolve them and start over. And despite repeatedly asking management to contact me, I have been promised callback after callback and repeatedly ignored. For a company that charges premium prices for cosmetic services, the customer service and follow-up I have experienced have been completely unacceptable. If a client is unhappy with an injectable result to the point that they ask the injector to stop halfway through the appointment, and is then left with visible bumps, I would expect management to take that seriously and follow up immediately -- not leave the client chasing the company for weeks. I have tried to handle this directly with the location MANY times before posting publicly. I gave them multiple opportunities to address my concerns privately, and I am still waiting. I had no idea this gem of a boutique spa was right down the street from my house! I had a dermaplane and express facial with Jamee, and she was absolutely amazing! Her warm personality and deep knowledge of skincare made the whole experience even better. She tailored everything to make sure my skin would be smooth, hydrated, and ready for the change in climate--exactly what I needed for an stress-free, glowing arrival in Italy. The odor in the waiting room was very strong and offensive--to the point that I almost left before my appointment even began. My appointment was at 10:00 a.m. I arrived at 9:55, and by 10:36 I was already back in my car driving away. That 36 minutes included the consultation before and after, getting undressed, getting dressed again, and the actual treatment itself. I paid $159 for a one-hour service, so I was honestly stunned when she told me it was over. There is absolutely no way I received anything close to an hour. I would estimate the actual facial lasted about 25-30 minutes at most. The checkout experience made it even worse. A 15% gratuity had already been added to my bill before the monitor was turned around for me to sign, and then I was charged nearly another $5 for using a card. My final total was approximately $186 for what was essentially a half-hour facial. For that price, I expected a full one-hour service and a much more professional experience. Instead, I left feeling rushed, overcharged, and taken advantage of. $186 for roughly 30 minutes of actual service is unacceptable to me. I will not be returning.
