The sculptures were lit up with colorful lights, which made walking through them feel like a winter art exhibit. Even though some sculptures had started to melt due to warmer temperatures this year, it was still really cool to see the level of detail and creativity. Knowing that each piece started as a massive block of snow made the experience even more impressive. Transportation: We drove our own car and parked in downtown Breckenridge. Parking is paid, but we arrived at a time where we only had to pay $0.50, since parking is free after 8 PM on weekends in downtown Breckenridge. Price: Admission is completely free, which makes this experience even better. Crowd: A small crowd of people were there spread out. It was one of the last nights to view the sculptures. Experience: It was amazing to see what the artists were able to create from huge blocks of snow. Walking through the sculptures at night made it feel more immersive and fun, and it was a unique winter activity to experience before leaving Colorado. Everything was easy to walk through, and the setup made it enjoyable to take your time and really look at each sculpture. Overall: I would highly recommend checking out the Breckenridge International Snow Sculpture Competition at least once, or even twice, since the sculptures are different every year. It's a free, unique winter experience and definitely worth seeing while you're in Colorado.

I went into the gallery with friends on Sunday just to look around. Sam Young greeted us and…read moreproceeded to point out the different nuances of pieces. She was never pushy or hovered over us. We were left to admire the artist's work and envision what it might look like in our space. These are not ordinary pieces, but make a statement of beauty and artistry. The owner, Brian, came and hung my art yesterday and I am thrilled. Earlier in the day, I had called Sam about my delivery window. It was her day off, but she immediately returned my call. It's just a fun and interesting stop when you visit Breckenridge. And, the pieces of art are amazing. My friends ended up purchasing artwork, as well, for their new home in Glenwood Springs. Thanks to Sam (and Brian) it was a great experience, which means I will treasure my artwork that much more.

As good as it gets!…read more Every July 4th, this collection of uber talented youths comes back to its roots in Evergreen, Colorado (my hometown!) and performs a Independence Day tribute that is one of the best in the country. The NRO is an international selection of top notch high school prodigies, and while thousands try out, nay, millions... only a select few get the chance to join the ranks. Actually, I think the conductor said around 800 try out annually. Still, pretty select group. A must see if they are in your neck of the woods, or you get up to the Breckenridge area.
