Good coffee, chill atmosphere. Back 'Yard' is very nice for quiet feed or relax with a paper.

We arrived on a Friday afternoon, took our seats, and after some confusion around table service (it is) ordered coffees, and I took advantage of the all day breakfast menu, and asked for the 'farmer' (poached eggs, rosemary potato hash, bacon and sourdough). The coffees came out first, and were fantastic. Using Brisbane's Cup Coffee beans, they make a great cappuccino. The food was also excellent. The open plan kitchen allows you to watch the chef make your breakfast as you quiet your stomach's rumbling. The eggs were 'just so' and oozed out decadently over the twice cooked bacon. The potato hash wasn't dry, and the rosemary wasn't overpowering. As we left, I grabbed a second coffee, knowing that I was a long way from my next good one. If you're in the area, Blackboard should absolutely be on your to do list.

They didn't have too many reviews on Yelp however I love French food so I definitely wanted to give them a try. During this first visit I ordered their special of the day which was a Salmon Benedict with Chili Béarnaise sauce. I was a bit worried it would be spicy but the sweet waitress let me try some of the sauce ahead of time and the flavor was incredible! My partner ordered the Croque Madame. We also got a jug of orange juice. Both our meals impressed us very much! The ingredients are so fresh and everything is full of flavor. Even the orange juice we could taste was freshly squeezed. We were so impressed during the first visit that we have gone back twice more. The two other visits I ordered the duck confit. It normally comes with a pepper sauce, however since I can't eat spicy food I requested to change it to the red wine jus - which they have always been so accommodating with! My partner ordered the French Pie. Both of our meals were exceptional. The duck confit is some of the best Ive ever eaten! The red win jus goes so perfectly with it and the potato is amazing! They also have warm croissants which we love and a lot of fresh bakery items that we haven't tried. There is both indoor and outdoor seating as well as takeaway options. We love coming here not only for the amazing food but also the fantastic service. The only downfall is having trouble sometimes finding parking but it is worth the effort. Highly recommend!

When visiting the Coast, Tonic is my preferred place to catch up with friends and family over a bite to eat and a few glasses of wine. It's relaxed, the staff are friendly and the glitter strip standard of a fake tan and clingy dress aren't prerequisites for entry. There's a pretty good selection of wines and some tasty morsels on the tapas-style menu. The paprika and nori calamari and the haloumi are two particularly delicious dishes. While I've ventured to Tonic mostly on a Friday night, the one time I did swing by on a Saturday it was a little hectic. The dj was mixing beats a touch too loudly to allow for any conversation and the very young and beautiful locals had taken up residence on the lounges. While I'll probably steer clear of Saturdays, you can be sure that I'll be back at Tonic again soon as I love the idea of a great bar without the megawatt bling so common on the Coast.
