If they are busy you Gonna have to wait a while to be served. But it is to be expected when it is the only place in the area that serves proper coffee. Friendly staff and a very nice atmosphere in the restaurant.

Having lived literally almost next door to this Blackboard shop, I'm very partial to it. Great coffee, cute waiters (just saying) and even better cronuts. Their cronuts are honestly to die for, I can't rave about them enough. It's been a couple of years since I lived there, but I'm finally getting around to reviewing this place. The atmosphere is lovely and it's a great place to meet a friend for coffee and a cronut (haven't had any real food here). Blackboard, you are so missed.

"Little Boxes on the hillside, little boxes made of ticky tacky, little boxes on the hillside, little boxes all the same." The opening theme song to TV Show WEEDS, sums up how I see Varsity Lakes. Yet, among fresh buildings with their cookie-cutter appeal, sits the glistening subway tiles and urban chic of Blackboard Specialty Coffee. With a menu of filter, single origin and regular blends of coffee you'll find yourself at home ordering a take-away or perching upon their wooden seats to take time to sip your coffee. If you head home hungry from Blackboard it is, from my visit and viewing the size of the food brought to our table, your own fault. For under $20 your plate is presented with a bounty of fresh food. I opted for the Anglers Breakfast (roasted beetroot, spinach, dukkah-roasted salmon on a slice of sourdough). For $16.50 this is value. Value with flavour. They do an all day breakfast, too. This could be a good thing, or in my instance, it just made deciding what to have off their menu that much harder. Thankfully, there was no 5 hour slow roasted lamb left. And a note of the coffee: it was okay. Really it was my own fault for ordering a milky flat white that muted any notes of the bean. For that I have regrets. With the range of beans and blends they have here don't make the same mistake - venture for a single origin or filter to make the most of your trip here.

As always the food and coffee were phenomenal!

Dropped in on weekend mornings and it was busy. Walk up, check in (COVID bar code), wait to be seated. Good range on menu with some vegan and Gluten Free. Friendly service, polite and efficient. Coffee is good (surprise as it has a French theme - call me bias but French coffee is open to question) But the food is a treat - easy to enjoy. Loved some of the quirky offerings- dog ice cream for the 4 footed friends

They didn't have too many reviews on Yelp however I love French food so I definitely wanted to give them a try. During this first visit I ordered their special of the day which was a Salmon Benedict with Chili Béarnaise sauce. I was a bit worried it would be spicy but the sweet waitress let me try some of the sauce ahead of time and the flavor was incredible! My partner ordered the Croque Madame. We also got a jug of orange juice. Both our meals impressed us very much! The ingredients are so fresh and everything is full of flavor. Even the orange juice we could taste was freshly squeezed. We were so impressed during the first visit that we have gone back twice more. The two other visits I ordered the duck confit. It normally comes with a pepper sauce, however since I can't eat spicy food I requested to change it to the red wine jus - which they have always been so accommodating with! My partner ordered the French Pie. Both of our meals were exceptional. The duck confit is some of the best Ive ever eaten! The red win jus goes so perfectly with it and the potato is amazing! They also have warm croissants which we love and a lot of fresh bakery items that we haven't tried. There is both indoor and outdoor seating as well as takeaway options. We love coming here not only for the amazing food but also the fantastic service. The only downfall is having trouble sometimes finding parking but it is worth the effort. Highly recommend!
