Awful service. I was a vendor at the Cottontown Art Crawl, I came to just get a coke for my mom. I waited 20 minutes to order as the second person in line because there was one worker and he took every order one by one, then made their food, then rang them up before taking another order, so it made one hotdog order take 15-20 minutes to make and check them out and everything. As someone who's been in the food service industry since I was 15, I know that this is the least efficient way to be getting orders done. Main problem was he was not only rude, but touching MONEY with the same gloves that he used to prepare/cook food. I watched him pull his wallet out, put money in there, put it back in his pocket, and pulled his pants up from his butt with the same gloved hand. I tried out this food truck while at Oktoberfest in Newberry. Usually we eat from one of the other vendors, but I decided to give them a shot. There was a long line, which is usually a good sign. Unfortunately the line was running a bit slowly and took a long time to get food. We ordered the schnitzel and curry bratwurst. The schnitzel was well cool with great flavor. The curry was a bit of a letdown with a sauce that was closer to plain ketchup with curry powder sprinkled at the end. read more

Unfortunately I am lowering my stellar five star review to two stars following a racist incident that my family experienced with a Wurst Wagon employee on October 15, 2016 at the Soda City Farmer's market. I waited until now to write about my experience partially due to the trauma, but also because I wanted to give the business the benefit of the doubt as the owners of the food truck were present and appeared to be quite embarrassed about the situation. Given the fact that I saw this employee working at the Annual Food Truck Festival today, I can no longer give this business the benefit of the doubt. Here is what happened to us: On October 15, 2016, at the Soda City Farmer's market my daughter and I witnessed the employee photographed below display a nasty, racist attitude towards my Latino husband who was just trying to buy a kielbasa at the Wurst Wagon (racist because he was treated differently than the white customers). We were standing to the side reading the menu trying to make selection and the employee refused to answer my husband's questions. My husband wanted to know if any of the sausages were spicy and the differences between each flavor ("It's a kielbasa, of course it's not spicy," he answered with an irritated voice"). Then he gestured to my husband to step to the right about three inches, "you need to stand right here," where apparently the line was except there was NO ONE ELSE present. He then proceeded to ignore my husband until one of the German cooks stepped in to explain. My husband finally made a selection and handed the employee his money. "Here you go, it's ready," and motioned for him to leave WITHOUT giving him his change." My husband let him know he was simply waiting for his change, which was then given to him. He started putting his change in his wallet while standing off to the side when the guy pointed again to his meal and said, "It's right here, it's ready," and motioned for him to move. At this point there was ONE person in line and there ways no way the fact that my husband's meal sitting on their long table was holding up business. My husband explained "I'm just trying to put away my change," as the guy turned his back and began to engage with another customer. I was frozen in disbelief. Now before you try to explain away his behavior as just being a jerk or having a bad day, just let me tell you what happened next: a white family walks up and the employee converses and laughs with all of them while pointing out and explaining the different sausages for several minutes before making a sale. read more

I follow this food cart around Columbia! Having spent time traveling in Germany, I crave good wursts!!! These are so amazingly fabulous that I could eat them every single day! The hard rolls are perfectly authentic and the pretzels put all others to shame. The grained mustard is so amazing that I can eat it by itself! All of the wurst selections are amazing! I have not had the schnitzel or the pommes frites but they are on my list to try asap! It is easy to find their food cart as they are always working hard to feed their homemade goodness to the people of Columbia. On Saturdays you can find them at Soda City on Main Street. The pommes frites, along with the schnitzel, are fried on-site by Gerard and served piping hot. He will fry them to your select crispness and it is truly a taste of heaven! Das tasty! I was finally able to catch up with the Wurst Wagen today in the Wolfe Company parking lot for a pretzel! I don't eat meat, but the smells from the wursts were intoxicatingly good. I enjoyed a pretzel with mustard for lunch and really enjoyed it. They are larger than my outstretched hand and only a dollar! A DOLLAR! For the vegetarians and vegetable conscious, their potato salad and cucumber dill salad are meatless AND excellent! During the 2017 Newberry Oktoberfest the line at the Wagen was long, which is a good sign for the food, but was not for the wait. The wait was almost 45 minutes long. The were horribly understaffed. Several other booths where providing comparable food, lower prices and faster service. This was a specialty event and the owners should have been better prepared for what was going to be a very busy day. read more
