Her acceptance into College was achieved with the guidance of Jeannie Borin. Katie was motivated to go to college but needed guidance to achieve her goals. My son, Tyler, however needed motivation to apply after 2 years at a JC. He agreed to worked with Jeannie and not only did she help him get motivated but he applied to 4 colleges and was accepted to 3. This has involved working through a mind-boggling array of tasks and issues in the challenging process of identifying and applying to colleges: focusing in on our daughter's goals and objectives both in terms of academics and location, identifying potential schools, identifying high school classes considered necessary or beneficial by target schools, focusing our daughter's preparation and choices, working alongside her during every step of the lengthy the application process - oh, and becoming one our family's favorite people in the process: Jeannie is charming, warm, supportive humorous, in addition, of course, to being smart and effective. It only added to my stress and anxiety that revolved around school and writing. We all knew something was very wrong but I never fit into any of the more commonly known learning disabilities. I started seeing a new therapist and psychiatrist who worked closely together. They suggested that perhaps I may have something called Written Expressive Disorder. This happened to be the break through that was needed. My grandmother delved into research about the disorder and came across something called an Educational Therapist. From there we discovered the amazing Dr. Shannon Kroner. I met with Dr. Kroner and immediately started working with her. We worked together for a year. By the end of that year I went from barely being able to write a single paragraph to writing a college level three page paper with confidence! I signed up for a religious studies class at Pasadena City College and finally experienced educational success on my own. Without the help of Dr. Kroner I never would have gained the confidence in my ability to write anything longer than three sentences or reach academic achievement independently.

What impressed me most about Liz is how she partnered so closely with my son on every step of the college admissions process, teaching him how to be responsible for his work, while shielding us parents from the day-to-day stress of it all. With Liz's guidance, my son learned to take ownership of his college admissions journey, from the early research phase, where she helped him figure out what he wanted out of his college experience, to drafting smart, authentic essays that showcased the best parts of his personality. She also created a killer SAT prep strategy for my son, which involved selecting the right tutor for him and steering him toward taking the test early in 11th grade, which was incredibly effective. She made sure he prepared ALL of his materials well in advance, so there was no scrambling. Best of all, Liz built a great relationship with my son over weekly zoom meetings, and was deeply invested in his progress every step of the way. My son trusted Liz's guidance and judgement completely, and we quickly learned that she understands this process like no one else. Working with Liz was an excellent experience and I can't recommend her highly enough!

Liz really took the time to get to know my daughter, which helped selecting the right fit for her when it comes to majors and schools. She was very meticulous in editing the essays and very skillful to handle our anxiety as parents during this process. She was also very pragmatic and realistic when selecting schools. My daughter was accepted to the Fall semester to 11 universities of the 12 she applied, and was on waitlist in one of them. She ended up getting in her first choice, which was USC. I could not be happier with Liz Marx work.
