So allowing a person, voluntarily, you haven't met before to pour hot wax over certain parts of…read moreyour body, then rip it off and then actually pay them for that experience isn't exactly my idea of fun for a Saturday morning (or any other day for that matter). But sometimes a girl's got to do what a girl's got to do. Now I have tattoos and piercing and I have attended, not one but two, test cricket matches, so I consider myself as someone with a rather high pain threshold. Except for when it comes to hair removal. I have never given birth but am fairly sure that is far less painful. It must be! As the clock reached 11am I started heading to Phoenix Beauty Point for my appointment. I was seriously considering downing a double whiskey but: A: apparently it is frowned upon to drink alcohol before you have had breakfast B: I really don't like whiskey I entered the salon and was greeted by Balo, this beautiful woman with a warm smile. She showed me to the room and asked me to get ready. As I took my clothes off I thought to myself: don't let her kind smile deceive you Alex, she is about to cause you some serious pain. She entered and soon after Operation Hair Elimination started. Now I'm not saying I didn't feel anything; I was stone cold sober remember. But Balo had this incredible way of making me think about everything else but that hot way on my skin. During the session we talked about Camden Market, the history of Afghanistan and the different dialect of Nigeria (thank you Wikipedia for making me sound like an intellectual!) and before I knew it, it was over! Balo was so thorough; not a single hair to be found. I would be lying if I said that my dislike for waxing is now gone; but at Phoenix Beauty Point it feels like a beauty treatment and not torture. I highly recommend anyone who wants a five star treatment to go there!

I would definitely go again and I would recommend it to a friend. I also had my nails done with them the following day and she did a great job. It's not in the same place as the beauty parlour, it's about 50yds down the road in a salon. My nails (false ones, french tipped) are amazing. They have survived my big day and don't feel like they're going anywhere soon! Thank you ladies!!

I really want to like - nay, love! - this place, but I'm having difficulty even finding nice things…read moreto say in this review. I learned about this salon after searching for all natural salons in London. I have a nail polish allergy, but all of the polishes used at Organic Beauty are vegan brand Spa Rituals. Yay for me! The salon's interior is peaceful and calming, which is perfectly juxtaposed with the ever bustling Brixton Market just up the street. There are bright green walls, brown wicker chairs & tables, soothing background music, and cute display cases and decorative touches. The hospitable staff greeted me immediately upon entry and offered me a beverage. The salon is outfitted with only two pedicure chairs, which reflects it's small space. The business is currently short staffed, so there were only two people on duty. Shortly after I entered, I was seated in a pedicure chair. I opted for the classic pedi and classic mani. The beautician that completed my pedicure was extraordinarily slow. She spent an eternity filing my nails, and didn't even buff them. Anyways, the entire pedicure took about an hour. An hour! Meanwhile, the lady in the chair next to me received a luxury pedicure. While I simply sat in the leather(ish) pedicure chair, they turned on her massage feature. While my feet were only rubbed with a pumice stone and exfoliant, her feet were also wrapped with paraffin wax. Her feet looked amazing afterwards, and mine were still rough. I had to go back over them with my own pumice stone at home because the pedicurist missed so many spots. Grrr! Then I received a manicure from the other beautician. Before she started, she brought over the nail dryer and put my feet in it. She delicately balanced it over the basin of the pedicure bath. Luckily she already drained it, but placing an electronic above a moist area still made me nervous. The manicure was as sub par as the pedicure. Once again, the manicurist didn't buff the ridges in my nails and inconsistently removed my cuticles. At the end of the service, she placed my hands in the same nail dryer that my feet were in. I don't know why, but that really grossed me out lol. All in all, I spent 90 mins receiving a super basic manicure and pedicure. Ridiculous! The website lists that a classic mani costs £20 and a classic pedi costs £25. The website offers 20% off for first time visits. My total should have been £36. Nope. My total was £46.60... including the 20% discount. I was so fed up with my experience at that point that I didn't bother fighting the unexpected £10+ price inflation. Four days later, every single fingernail is already chipped. What a waste of money! While I appreciate the natural products used at the salon, the beauticians were extremely slow and the salon was overbooked. Once this salon is adequately staffed and improves their service delivery, I might return. But only maybe.

Now there is a new person and you must pay a deposit and pay for top ups even if it didn't work properly. I've never needed a top up before. This time I needed it. I have been having Botox for 10 years and this was the worst and most expensive - in the end £300 most painful and a bit crooked and not as good as any I've ever had before. I was told it was a new Botox, meant to be better etc. I will not go back - I'm extremely annoyed and I notice today, it's wearing off already and that is less than half the time it usually lasts. Botox should be getting cheaper and easier. This whole experience was hard work, had to go 3 times in the end and I was bruised for a while - not happened that badly before.
