Went to the Woods on Ninth this past Sunday for a friend's wedding and reception. Beautiful building and interiors, with green trees and lawns outside. It was raining that day, so my friend had to change her initial plan of having an outdoor ceremony to an indoor one, but the staff still managed to make her wedding smooth and beautiful. The reception was good, with tasty food, little pastries, and a cute cake. Toward the end of the reception the staff did seem a bit in a hurry to get everything cleaned up (probably because it was a Sunday,) but overall the service was good too. Seems worth checking out if you're having a small wedding or gathering. read more

I'm not Evan sure where to start. We choose the woods on ninth because of the beautiful building and stair case. But that is the only thing good I have to say about the place. We booked back in January of 2012, when the place was under a different management than it is now. We had a contracted sign and paid in full. Yet the new management tried to change our contract. They no longer did center pieces so we had to provide our own. They tried to tell us that they could no longer do black table cloths. The new manager him self was not very friendly. He seemed irritated that we were using our own cater even though we paid an extra 100 for using an out side cater. They new I was very upset with there service so they promised they would try and do everything they could so that nothing else goes wrong. But the day of our wedding the people who were there didn't seem like they knew what was going on. $500 worth of flowers for my bridal party were dropped off at the reception hall and someone put them in the fridge. Meanwhile when my ceremony started no one knew where they were. They didn't find my flowers until after my ceremony. I would NOT recommend them. Planning a wedding is stressful enough, without having to worry if the people that are running your wedding are going to do what they were paid to do. read more

Staff was nice and polite, never pushy. The venue is beautiful, although the brides room could have been a bit bigger. I was a bridesmaid at this venue last night and the staff were helpful and allowed us to use their full kitchen facilty even without having a caterer. The pond could use some fish, and maybe some more colorful flowers in the garden and not just in the pots by the awnings. Other than that, it was a beautiful wedding venue and great staff. I am not sure of the price for what the bride and groom had but it seemed nice. read more

This venue is GORGEOUS and I was very pleased. I was the maid of honor to my best friend and she had the best day of her life. The staff was more than accommodating and helped and rearranged anything we need. They have new staff and management and I feel as though it has greatly improved the environment. My friend booked last year and was hesitant until the recent manager contacted her. He kept in touch and made sure all our needs were met. I could not be more pleased. read more

Never, never, never get married here. The Woods gets one star from me for being a pretty place, but there is nothing else worthy to mention. The staff is unresponsive, uncommunicative, and they really don't care about your event at all. If you think wedding planning is stressful enough, go somewhere else, anywhere else. The Woods will only increase your stress levels. read more

Horrible! That is the best way to describe this venue. The actual building and location are nice enough. Be sure to bring ALL your own decor if you choose this venue. Try didn't even have flowers out in their "garden". They are rude and difficult to work with. Try don't have working speakers or stereo inside or out. You must be out of there by 10:30 along with all the decorations you brought to make the place look nice. And did I mention they are horribly rude? Do not use this venue. read more

I just had my reception at this lovely place and it was amazing! As people greeted us they could not say enough good things about the venue. We were very pleased as well. The upstairs was lovely and perfect for a line because it was not too loud as we greeted and conversed with our guests. Then downstairs was perfect as we had many guests and also used the outdoor garden as an overflow area where people could sit and still have chairs and tables. It's amazing to have a venue that large for such a reasonable price! My photographer loved the outside garden for the bridal party pictures. We also took many pictures on the grand staircase. She has photographed many weddings and was amazed at the beauty, size, and versatility of the venue. My caterer loved the kitchens as well. It was wonderful to have both and upstairs and a downstairs kitchen, even though she did not need to use the upstairs kitchen because the downstairs kitchen was plenty big. My florist actually ended up using the upstairs kitchen to arrange some of the centerpieces and cut flowers. She was very happy with the work space since many places do not offer anything at all. The staff was wonderful at helping with whatever we needed. If anyone had a question we knew exactly where to find the staff in order to get our question answered. The staff was also very willing to help in anyway possible to take stress or burden off the family or bridal party. I would recommend this venue to all of my friends and family! read more

My sorority formal was held at this venue and it was so fun! The service was great, the venue was stunning, and everyone had a good time.

We had our daughters reception at The Woods. It was the perfect venue for the party she always dreamed about. The staff was easy to work with. Connor and Olivia checked with us weekly to make sure our plans were going smoothly. They were willing to customize the venue and bring in our own table settings. We used the upstairs to greet guests and served the food downstairs. The kitchen was well equipped with commercial grade appliances. We even had a corner set up for our "little" guests. This was a huge hit. We invited many families. The smaller guests felt special. For a special dessert, we had a donut truck (Art City Donuts) serve from the lower entrance, worked out wonderfully. Would recommend this venue for any kind of party, wedding, dinner or family reunion! 5 stars al the way!! read more

Woods on ninth is beautiful but the service is horrible and I was just a guest! When we were in line to get our food one of the servers hair was very long and was dipping into the food and on the clean plates. While I'm sure she washed it that is not something I want to see before serving myself up some food! Most of the time there was not an employee to be found the drinking water ran out and we had to run someone down just to be told to go find a sink! Ummmm..... ok I guess! Very unimpressed. read more

The Woods on Ninth is beautiful! I have attended many wedding receptions here and always had a great time. The staff is so friendly, you can bring in outside catering, and it is very affordable. I would recommend this place to anyone. read more

I thought the Woods on 9th did a great job. My husband and I live in Montana but got married in Midvale. They were great at communicating for us out-of-towners and sent all the proper documents in a timely manor. The Woods was accommodating and very up front with everything that they offered. The building and grounds were beautiful, Erica, their wedding coordinator was awsome, very helpful and very sweet, and Normandy Catering was delicious. One thing I think they could do to improve is not having the cobblestone walkway up to the gazebo. As a bride who wore high heels, (which most brides do) it was extremely challenging walking down the isle and infact my heels sunk in between the stones twice and made me trip a little. A bit embarrassing when the entire congregation is standing watching you. Other than that, I loved the Wood's on 9th. It was absolutely beautiful inside and out and I'd suggest it to anyone getting married. read more

We wanted so badly to do our renewal vows here. Unfortunately my husband was deployed for our set date. While they were more than accommodating us in letting us keep prices the same, for a new day when he came back, we were told when he returned home we would be moving. I cannot control the military, and wish sometimes I could but sometimes it is not up to me. We gave our deposit down, and even though we did sign a contract, we contacted them for a partial refund (even some money is better than none) we were told no, because it had been a year. Well, from my point of view that is not really being flexible with what our current situation is. Yes a contract was signed but sometimes you cannot control what is out of your hands. They now have $1,000 of our money in which they will not return even half of to help our move. I will not be recommending this place to anyone I don't care about legalities especially when they knew my husband was in the military, and that at any moment (deployments and moves) anything could happen. They seemed fine with the situation until we asked for a partial refund. read more
