It is a friendly, not particularly difficult course located on an Air Force Base. Apparently, the base has been renamed Joint Base Langley-Eustis. Our foursome were not good golfers overall. All four of us probably shared a bag of clubs which is such bad form! Still, no one complained about us, and I'm sure we let those on carts play through. I recall one of the holes being just off Weyland Road and if you're not careful, and we weren't, you could hit into a car driving by. Glad that never happened to us! Thanks Englewood for providing hacks like us with an inexpensive way to enjoy nature and our few solid club to ball connections in a relaxed setting!

Temperature is controlled perfectly in the rooms. The wedding party was on the first floor along with us, there is no elevator for the second floor rooms. They told us that when I booked the room. Wedding went off perfectly outside had great weather and then the reception was held on the second floor in the main building food was great, Lasagne, Chicken, roasted potatoes, garlic bread and mixed vegetables. You must ask for room service from the front desk. Very accommodating, being that we arrived after 2 AM due to the government shut down and flights being re scheduled. directions were very clear on where to get our room keys along with all necessary codes. Also received (2) $10 Food certificates in our room when we checked in. Never have to go outside to get to the NEST which is the restaurant so that is wonderful. We are enjoying our stay and a couple of more days left.

This was after we had already chosen this course specifically because of its lower price point, as one of our players was only on their second round of golf ever. Instead of welcoming and accommodating newer players, the staff's behavior was belittling, discouraging, and in some instances blatantly sexist--completely out of line in any professional setting, let alone a customer-facing business. The whole ordeal was embarrassing, unnecessary, and a clear demonstration that this facility values squeezing a few extra dollars over basic respect and decency. Lesson learned: sometimes the "cheaper" option comes at too high a cost. We will not be returning to Deer Run. If you want to play somewhere where you are treated like a valued guest, I strongly recommend Golden Horseshoe. The staff there are consistently professional, welcoming, and respectful, and the course is beautifully maintained. As the saying goes, "you get what you pay for"--and it's absolutely worth paying a little extra to be treated with the dignity every golfer deserves.

The hotel was supposed to be remodeled; however, all that was done was printing and new furniture. There were prints on the wall and cracks in the ceiling.
