This place was the cutest getaway for our weekend and celebration of a friends birthday. There wasn't much parking around but you'll find one somewhere if you dont mind walking a short distance. We reserved an outdoor firepit for a friend's birthday, and as other tables left, we sat at them since there were more people than chairs. The ambiance is really chill, pet friendly, baby friendly. A nice selection of wine, beer in a can and on tap and small bites. You order food and drinks inside, if you get food, they give you a number and bring it out to you once it's done. I highly recommend their grilled cheese and tomato soup. I wasn't trying to get that, but the very kind servers recommended it of all things and pretty much sold me on it. It was a great and delicious purchase to pair with the beer that I got, (I'm not much of a wine person). It's a very relaxing and beautiful winery with tasting rooms all around, both indoor and outdoor seating. There are fire pits and heaters everywhere outside in case it gets cold. I with the heaters, it never got too cold during the night. The servers also came out to tell us about last call for food but reminded us we were welcome to stay as long as we'd like. Very rude staff member. Was hoping for a romantic afternoon, and when ordering wine for my partner and I we were was asked to see both my partner and my IDs . My partner was sitting with my dog, and handed me ID. This did not suffice - and we were forced to leave our dog alone in order to show id of my partner that is in his mid-40s. Came here with my mom, grandma, and her friends, and we had an amazing time. The outdoor area is spacious, making it perfect for relaxing while enjoying the fantastic selection of wines. We started with the rosé and finished two bottles way too quickly--lol! The staff were incredibly friendly and personable, which added to the great experience. Loved this place and I'm glad I got to try it out before a reservation at Cafe Rustica. It became the highlight of my night! Our server Sam was so sweet and he offered us some pecans and chips with our drinks. The pecans were delicious! They remind me of the spiced pecans at Jeffries. I had a glass of rosè and it was so crisp and refreshing. Refrigerated at just the right temperature My boyfriend had a Pinot noir and he said it was a little too light for his liking. I tasted it and I agree it was lacking some depth. The ambiance and decor at this establishment was really what got me head over heals. It's so chic in here and so instagram worthy! The chef's salad needs a different name because I have never had that type of salad with arugula as it's only lettuce or where you had to pay extra for blue cheese and for bacon ( which by the way was over cooked bordering on burnt and tasteless). We came here with a group of friends before their wedding and had our one year old with us. I've never been treated so badly for simply having a kid in any establishment. They told us to leave the indoor/bar area TWICE because our child was under 21 (even though we were waiting for our food). And then they treated us badly when we took our baby outside (apparently where kids are actually allowed). So if you have kids don't plan on coming here at all, and as locals we won't be returning any time soon. And by the way, our kiddo was basically asleep on her dad's shoulder most of the time so she wasn't being obnoxious either. Update- Thanks for your thoughtful response Charlotte, we're just confused at why an establishment that serves food and alcohol (like any other restaurant) has such hard and fast rules against kids. The rest of our party enjoyed their time very much, but it was unfortunate that we had a bad experience with the baby. It seems from other similar reviews that your place is just not a good fit for families with children, and it may be helpful to mention that to folks from the start. There are a ton of tasting rooms in Carmel Valley but they all seem to close around 5/6pm, which is how we stumbled into the Wine House. It seemed brand new so everything was clean and modern and beautiful. They have a large selection of beer and wine and a handful of small plates and cheese boards. We got a bottle of Vino Verhde and a cheese board which was yummy. The staff was extremely friendly and gave us a bunch of recommendations for our time in the area. They have a spacious deck outside with cot hole boards and fire pits. The outdoor space is lovely - to sit by a fire and sip wine. Very cozy. They have a great bottle selection, but for a wine growing area should have a better by-the-glass selection. Had the low end Joyce Pinot which was the most expensive wine on the glass list - it was fine but nothing special. Put in a couple of really nice wines and use a Coravin - I bet people will try them. Our new favorite spot in Carmel Valley! The grounds and interior are just beautiful and the vibe is high end but super approachable. We love sitting outside on their patio with our dog. The food is awesome, we've had the cheese & charcuterie plate, goat cheese, and the hummus with pita. Even the dishes the food is served on are beautiful and you can tell thoughtfully selected to complement the whole design of place. Of course the wine options on great but they also offer a really robust selection of craft beers, which I really appreciate since my husband can't drink wine. Service is fantastic.
