Came in here to get a gift for someone. Place is small and organized. The good thing that the bottle of wine I gifted was already cold from the fridge. So it made that persons gift just perfect. Hands down, my favorite liquor store. Found it by accident, but have been a regular ever since. TREMENDOUS selection of excellent craft beer and liquor. They always have new and exciting craft beers, and they are more than helpful and honest with recommending something to you. Staff is incredibly knowledgeable and polite. Half the time I end up just talking craft beer with them while I pay. Nice folks. Recommended! read more

Just stopped in here a few minutes ago to pick up some wine for dinner, last night, Labor Day. There was a lovely gentleman working at the counter in the front where you pay and there was a young woman standing there behind the counter as well. She was so unpleasant that it was almost jarring, I have no explanation for her being there whatsoever. It's kind of a shame because the dude was helpful and nice. I did ask him if they had lemincello and he did not seem to know what it was so he said basically that they didn't have any. I am pretty sure they carry that in a liquor store but 'their bad' because I ended up not buying it because he told me they didn't have it. They have the largest selection of any liquor store in Montclair You like German beers, they got that...and alot more. If your tierd of "lite" beers then try some of the choice selections on the far left side of the fridge. Really good value considering any of the imports would cost you more than double what you pay in this place. A good change of pace selection. They also have rows and rows of wine. If you know what your looking for ask someone and they are more than happy to help you find it. They also have kegs and bags of ice. Calling ahead is always smart since they will cart and load your car for you. Great service. Great prices too! read more

Yeah no, I'm not a fan of this place. I came here once because it was after 10pm and my regular spot closes at 10. I realized after walking around the spot that only beer and wine were available for my perusing, and all the liquor was behind the counter. =/ and it's on a wall farrr behind the counter. i have 20/20 (not mad dog) vision and it was too far for proper perusal. I don't know about you, but i like to peruse. and i can never remember the name of the triple sec i like so i can't ask for it by name. and i'm not the type to wanna try to figure it out with the guy behind the counter. especially in front of some other customers. so when i merely ask for triple sec you're gonna give me that Hiram-Walker-or-Dukuyper-or-whatever-that-brand-is-that-tasted-like-gahbage. probably because it's the only wack brand of triple sec you have. and i'm gonna take it because i'm not fussy. not publicly. seriously though, i just want that one-on-one connection before purchasing my liquor, and i can't get that here. i NEED to peruse for proper selection and a bit of inner joy, because i often like to try different things that catch my eye. plus the only menthols you had were Newports. not even Kools? Its alright. Nothing special. Very tight space and totally cool if you happen to be a Gingerbread person. Like the other reviewer mentioned, I'm not a fan that they keep all of the liquor behind the counter either. Is your crowd THAT rough that people can't look at liquor without playing a guessing game that involves pointing at bottles we cant read, head shaking, more pointing, then resignation from the aggravation that you just buy the third bottle they shove toward you. I can understand if it was expensive stuff, but keeping the crap under tight surveillance seems like an overkill. Note to the other reviewer: They (and all liquor stores) are only allowed to sell wine and beer after 10pm. The other stores are skating by hoping they don't get in trouble. I definitely don't like the 7 guys huddled around the counter like a weird gambling ring who is suddenly banished to security detail for pints of crappy vodka and another guy who is always blocking to doorway like a bouncer. If you are in the Montclair you need to check out the Wine Guys. I was extremely impressed with the wine and bourbon selection. I'm a bit of a bourbon collector and Ushir was able to get me a bottle that no other store in the area could. They have some top notch liquor on their shelves and the employees couldn't be nicer. New location is absolutely AMAZING!!! Plenty of selections! from Italian wine to South African wine!!! Customer service is great... Employees know their product and can recommend fair priced wine for any restaurant you will be attending, not only do they have a huge selection of wine but they also carry craft beers that are hard to find. Very surprised how unfriendly and suspicious the staff was and it was absolutely claustrophobic being in there. Not happy that the people that work there seem to know nothing about their inventory and seem to be only trained to push the expensive stuff. Also -- there is a weird odor in there.. not sure what it is but it definitely doesn't seem healthy. This place really shouldn't be in business. read more
