Had a very disgusting and traumatic experience here just 10 minutes ago . I asked the woman behind the desk who's the owner's daughter how much the price of a bottle of wine was and she told me it was on sale I got the brand wrong, but I told her the name of it and showed her the bottle. When it was time to check out, my total was well over what it was supposed to be and I had asked her what is that about and she told me the bottle of wine was $55. I reiterated to her that I asked her about that and she told me yes it was on sale with the ones with the wine bottles that it was next to so she called in her husband as if I'm supposed to get in trouble or something because I'm not paying for something when I asked you specifically how much it cost because I didn't see a price there . Furthermore, he comes out with an attitude, very aggressive towards a woman myself at that and telling me because I put it in the chiller. It's an issue. I said that's not my fault because I asked her how much it was and she confirmed the price to me. So y'all are just gonna have to get over it I'm not paying for a bottle of wine that I was told was a cheaper price. So now at this point, both of them are jumping on me verbally and I use a choice word of a curse and as I'm leaving now he called me a bitch and she called me a derogatory name as well. They're lucky. I was kind enough to just walk out and let it go otherwise it could've been a bigger issue for them. In my visits to this Buy-Rite, they've 1 - Always had what I was looking for and 2 - have always been nice to me service-wise. This Buy-Rite is convenient for those in the surrounding area from the apartments even to Glen Ridge in the area. Buy Rite is a bit overshadowed buy nearby Bottle King which is both much bigger and has comparable prices. It also doesn't help that as convenient as Buy-Rite is, many of the restaurants in the immediate vicinity aren't BYOB. However Buy-Rite's single trump card is their delivery. I've yet to use it but I know this is a service for Buy Rite in general. Bottle King has delivery, but it's exclusively for wine and is not directly through their site. Nice call Buy-Rite. It seems Buy-Rite locations are kind of franchised and take over previous liquor stores that occupied the location. So far so good with this one. read more

I've really been trying to avoid writing reviews for business that aren't up to par due to covid having a huge impact on businesses already however this one was earned. I purchased 4 bottles of hardin in the past 7 days, two last sunday and two this friday and one out of four bottles is oxidized. I called to let the store know and requested an exchange in which I was willing to return the bottle (I only poured one glass) with the remainder of the wine that was purchased on Friday and they hard declined saying that I could have had it opened for days or stored it wrong. The manager even went as far as to say, they could have exchanged it if it weren't open to which I replied how could I know that something is wrong without it being opened? Then he stated if it were unopened he could have exchanged/returned it and in the same breath said but on the receipt it says no exchanges or returns due to covid. So which is it? Also, who INTENDS to return wine? They outright declined to make this right. This bottle of wine is $27.99 and is only good for dumping in a dish to get rid of it instead of pouring it down the drain. Don't patronize this business as they do not care about the products that they sell, they do not care about their customers and they do not care about doing the right thing. We placed an order through their vendor CityHive, and after 90 minutes of waiting for the order called Bloomfield Buy-Rite. We explained to the customer service personnel that we were charged for the order and gave them the info including confirmation number, but they could not locate a record. They say the issue is with Cityhive who we call using various numbers with no success of reaching anyone. We've contacted them through their site with no reply. So we're out $75, never received our order and because Bloomfield Buy-Rite, nor Citywise, offered to help or a refund, I would advise to only use them in-person, if I didn't receive three emails from Bloomfield Buy-Rite confirming my order I'm the first place. Worst Customer Service. I've been a customer since they opened in the summer. This weekend, I had an issue with a $10 bottle of wine where the top came off when I was uncorking it, and brought it back to them and explained what happened. Rather than simply exchanging the bottle with another, they said that since I uncorked it I was responsible for it, and wouldn't exchange the bottle. If they want to play the logic game, that's their prerogative, but a business that understands customer service would have replaced the bottle happily rather than lose a customer that spends more than $100 a month on alcohol. This place is right next to the train station, so perhaps they don't give a toss about how they treat customers because people will just buy liquor from the closest place. But if being treated like a valued customer means anything to you, go to Bottle King on Bloomfield, which is just as close, has a better selection of wines, and whose staff is much nicer. read more
