Ian (The Window Guy) responded to my voice message within an hour. Originally i was looking to replace or rescreen 50 windows. He showed up promptly to give me an estimate. After spending an hour he said that all but 3 screens and frames were in good condition, and just needed a good cleaning. His proposal for a complete cleaning of all the jalousie windows, screens, interior jambs, 7 sliding windows was very reasonable. He did replace 1 damaged frame and rescreened 2 others. He google-mapped my house to quote, showed up on time, and charged me the quoted price. He was so fast working, but not at cost of quality. I have six large, second story picture windows right on the oceanfront. Three of them were just replaced with new glass, and three hadn't been properly cleaned in 12 years. They were totally clouded with mineral deposits and salt damage, and I did not hold out much hope. Ian worked all day on a ladder, the first few hours in the rain, and when he was done all six of my windows sparkled like new. My expectations were surpassed and I was ecstatic with the results. The screens on our 1988 home were old, bent, and in dire need of replacement. I couldn't even open all the windows without geckos and bugs coming in the house. Ian to the rescue! He and his teammate custom-built and replaced all 44 screens in our home. They are perfect! They make the windows look new, and I can open all my windows again! Ian also cleaned the exterior of our 2nd-story windows, including the interior/exterior of 5 impossible-to-reach loft windows. He was meticulous and conscientious. He made sure every corner and detail was spotless. I didn't know Ian before this job, but he felt like family and was comfortable to be around. I didn't have to hide out, and he was friendly to my little dogs which I really appreciated not having to coop them up in a room. Horrible Communication. Does not appear to have the ability to follow instructions effectively. Ian was from the very first minute we met him very argumentative and confrontational about very simple requests and directions of what we wanted as home owners. On numerous occasions we told him specific details on what to do and what not to do and despite that what we found ourselves having to repeat ourselves multiple times and still he got it wrong. Be very wary of this guy's attention to detail. If you do hire him do expect to have to repeat yourself constantly and even after the umpteenth time you will find that he will still get it wrong. ***NOTE #1 - upon Ian reading my wife and my reviews he has decided to send us an email essentially proving that he is not willing to work on anything we have outlined here in our critique of him. *** NOTE #2 - This guy just won't give up. Top notch window cleaning! Ian does a fabulous job on your windows He offers different levels of service at different price points. I needed a very thorough job done as I hadn't had them done in quite some time and the geckos had made themselves known...if you know what I mean. I have a house with more windows than walls, so the price was high for me. But in the end I'm still very glad I called Ian. Even my husband was more than impressed with how the windows look now! I'm certain they look better than when first installed! I will now be having my windows done at least once a year, and I'll be calling The Window Guy to do them. I do not know why anyone would not give this gentleman a 5 star - he not only does super work, he arrives on time, is totally prepared, offers additional services (screening) and has a vast amount of knowledge about many household challenges that help home owners and all the while is doing a totally detailed and thorough window cleaning. Even my picky husband had nothing but compliments. I thank you 'Window Guy' and will go out of my way to recommend you always - and please know I am very pleased with all of the work you did for us. I do wish to add that Is washing windows of a newly built fully permitted home but this home was built over a 3.5+ year period - and Ian was dealing with dirt from that long a time, sticker glue, and 10' ceilings with high windows. Ian was CLEAR with his 'what I do or do not do' instructions when I booked him and CLEAR again on arrival. Ian even fixed the roller of one of my screens on a 4' window so that it fully closed. Ian had to use a window designed razor blade on the windows - not just for sticker glue but also for the dirt! He cleans up his work site, he informs me clearly when he will return, he is the kind of workman I think most anyone would want to have to come with their projects. Expect to be highly frustrated with this guy's communication and customer service skills. Hired him to clean our windows of our home and repair/replace screens and/or window frames. Although Ian is good at what he does, his inability to communicate effectively and his disregard of what the customer wants supersedes his talent. My husband and I were very clear of what we wanted him to do, where to start since we have a big property, but either Ian didn't care or he has horrible listening skills because windows we wanted him to clean didn't get cleaned and windows we never spoke to him about, he ended up cleaning. Very very frustrating. Ian has a penchant for doing what he wants despite the customer telling him what they want. And when I told him how dissatisfied I was about the way he communicates, or lack thereof on his part, Ian basically cut me off and talked over me. Highly unprofessional, but consistent of how Ian operates. Long story short, my husband and I ended up paying him for what he had done already, but ultimately we are not going with him anymore. We need people who are good listeners and will do what the customers want instead of working with someone who doesn't know how to follow simple instructions. read more
