The center released my mother who was recovering from hip surgery to her home where she has absolutely no care. They said they would assist in getting her on Medicaid and she would be in a " pending" status until she was approved which meant she would be allowed to stay until the application was complete and approval accepted. This would have allowed us to get someone into her apartment to care for her. Now she is literally left alone while I myself, her daughter, recovers from surgery and my brother tends to her, his family and his job. It's nearly impossible and we are afraid for the safety of our mother. If the administration would have listened to us and guided us sooner and better and not just say they handed my brother a packet ( but didn't) and hadn't been so condescending, I believe our mother would have been in a much better position by now. We are afraid.

I was happy with the majority of the staff. There was one nurse in charge of meds that shouldn't have been. She couldn't answer any questions and had no personality. I don't like to single out 1 staff member but she continued to give my mom Miralax when she had diarrhea. Due to this bringing her home turned into a fiasco of her sobbing while "it" was pouring out of her. It's not a prescription, you can't check or make that decision on your own! How is someone like that in charge of dispensing medications?

My sister had a brain bleed and spent a few weeks at the Wallingford facility. The nurses were…read morewonderful (most of them) the facility is clean and nice, however, trying to communicate with the doctor and get written notes about her progress was non existent! We could not get our questions answered in a timely manner and she should have received more extensive therapy but did not. They basically let her have a bed for a few weeks. They were not helpful in providing strategies for the family to use so all we could do was read the TBI manual and fend for ourselves. We were absolutely not happy with the results of her time there. They would not let her walk on her own so she was either in bed, a chair or wheelchair. My suggestion is that you have family there all day and night to support your loved one.

His progress was excellent, and Gaylord's ability to reach out and get him every kind of rehabilitation he needed was unbelievable. Now, it's not easy. The patients must work, but thank god, Gaylord helps them work hard. We have been to lesser rehab programs where one hour of PT constituted the rehab for each day. They go to great lengths for their patients, and my husband was in fabulous shape, ready to take on the world once released.
