Needless to say, I checked myself OUT of this place after approximately 24 hours. First, the type and quality of care was inadequate and plain awful. A patient/client has a call button to ask for help. I was told by a CNA (I assume) that I needed to stop pushing the bell because I " wasn't the only person who needed help." After asking a nurse THREE TIMES to kindly leave me alone before I got angry at her, the nurse continued talking OVER me. I finally lost it and yelled, "GET OUT". On her way out, the nurse told me she would not come back in again during her shift. She returned an hour later, placed a cup on my tray with medicines in it and promptly left. She left medicines still in their sealed paper covers and did not stay to see if I even took the medicines. This is only a fraction of what I endured with this place. I could never recommend this place for anyone.

Yesterday, my wife, who is visiting her mom also had over $100 stolen from her pocketbook when she took her mom for a walk. My wife is up from Florida. My sister-in-law failed to report the theft and was going to wait until after her mom was discharged and did not tell my wife that there was theft going on. TERRIBLE! I told my wife to call the police and also call the New London DAY newspaper. What kind of low life would steal from someone who is assisting and visiting their mom was in the facility.

The big tree, lights, little details everywhere. While visiting, they had a horse and carriage come to pick up the residents for a ride around Newport. The smiles on their faces were enormous. Once everyone came inside, we were treated to hot chocolate and other goodies. They also had a wonderful program called "Elves for Elders", where residents make wish lists and people surprise them with gifts, it was just really thoughtful and added so much Christmas magic. It truly was a winter wonderland. Thank you Village House staff for everything you have done for my mother!

I have seen the ER numerous times, been admitted, had labs, experienced hospital transit, ultrasounds, infusion, MRIs, CTs, surgical procedures, and many others over the last 24 years. I have seen a lot of areas of this hospital that other people have not, met SO many knowledgeable, kind and caring staff, and I have never had a SINGLE complaint. Well, unless you count the food. It falls in line with what you would expect from a hospital. I have always felt respected, safe, heard, and cared for. When a treatment order is placed, I ALWAYS request to have it done at this hospital or their off-site facilities at Crossroads or Pequot. I won't go anywhere else. This hospital is a Yale New Haven affiliate and uses MyChart which is extremely helpful. I get my results as soon as they are submitted, most often on the same day as the test. Highly recommend.

(I was in a wheelchair due to severe back pain, leg weakness, foot drop & having trouble urinating). After a 40 min. wait we got to see a very young PA who poked my back and checked my feet and leg strength, said she would prescribe pain meds then we could leave. We were dumbfounded she didn't order a CT or MRI. She only ordered it after we asked. We even had to ask for a referral to see a Neurosurgeon, otherwise it would take us a year (literally) to get in without it. Not happy with L&M ER. You feel like cattle.

I had excellent care by all staff. They are careing individuals from every RN, APRN, PT, OT and social services. Everyone worked together with me and my wife to give me the best possible outcome. They coordinated my discharge with Visiting Nurses of SECT. Those folks have also been very helpful and dedicated to making my road to full recovery easier and less confusing. If I ever need to return to a rehab facility, Bayview will be my first choice!
