Wetherspoon The William Morris Pub in Hammersmith London. Wetherspoon. I visited the pub and sat quietly having some drinks on my own. A bar assistant made a serious complaint about me. She accused me of harassment and said I was touching her as she walked by. The manager asked me to leave the pub. I said the bar assistant is mistaken and he should check the cctv camera. 2 security guards returned and literally dragged me out of the pub accusing me of harassment. I could not even collect my bag. I was very embarrassed being treated like an animal. The security guards were aggressive and the african guard wished to have a fight with me. He kept putting his fists up and saying come on fight me and the baldy security guard did absolutely nothing to prevent him assaulting me. This is all recorded on his body cam and the evidence is there. I was furious and I shouted at them for mistreating me. Another african man was passing by with his friends and an argument started with them. The african man assaulted me by punching me in my face. I watched as he was then allowed by the 2 security guards to enter The William Morris pub Hammersmith with no problems or issues. The african man and his friends must be friends of the security guards. I called 999 to report the assault. The bar manager an Indian man came to me and said I was barred from the pub. I said I had done nothing wrong. He said I was abusive which is certainly true after I was dragged out of the pub being accused of harassment. He could not prove the bar assistants allegations using the cctv. So instead he barred me for getting abusive and angry in my reaction to being violently thrown out of The illiam Morris in Hammersmith for harassment. The police arrived and did not find the african man who assaulted me even though there were 8 policemen all standing outside The William Morris in Hammersmith. The police told me to leave or I would be arrested. Serious 2 tier police and security behaviours. The William Morris in Hammersmith London should not be allowed to treat customers in this manner. They were wrong to accuse me of harassment and the security guard who kept challenging me to his fist fight should be dismissed along with his dodgy fellow security guard. I think a background check on those 2 men would be very interesting. The security guards did not see anything from my view point at all and had no understanding whatsoever. Very dodgy pub they have there. Absolutely disgusting. Watch what you are doing. Please becareful. They are not honest managers and staff. It is unsafe inside this pub. Cheap, tacky, very loud music at the week-ends - party central, your feet will stick to the carpet and I would not eat here. This place is for those wanting cheap booze to get drunk and party. During the day it is frequented by people who cannot afford anywhere else and during the evening it is full of people wanting or needing to forget everything. A bit like the Walkabout in concept but in a more downmarket sort of a way. That said, if you want somewhere to party, somewhere to get smashed, and don't mind where you go then maybe it is for you. read more

When I first arrived in London I caught up with a friend from back home and he suggested that we go to a pub for dinner as we had quite a few months of catching up to do. We ended up checking out one of the two larger chains of pubs in London - the one we ended up going to was a William Morris. As we were planning to spend a while in the pub catching up I ended up ordering a pitcher of a cocktail to try out and settled on the 'Woo Woo' (£9.69) which contained 'Archers peach schnapps, Smirnoff vodka, cranberry juice' and was a very easy to drink cocktail. For dinner I ordered the chicken and bacon pasta (£6.79). The pasta was as expected for the price - a little over cooked, flavours were a little lacking but overall it was edible and did the job of being food for dinner. While the meal did nothing to inspire me for the price I could not complain and the drinks were very cheap too. I would probably head back again but only for the prices and with good company. read more

Probably the worst Wetherspoons I've been to. It has a somewhat sticky and dirty feel to it, though I couldn't see any actual dirt, it's just one of those places that feels grubby no matter how much you scrub it. The tables weren't super clean and boy, was the staff rude! I waited at the bar for a full ten minutes while two bar staff kept doing other stuff and almost looked like they were avoiding me. I just wanted a simple breakfast, so this wasn't boding well. After I finally ordered, the meal arrived soon enough, but was rather unlovingly dropped on my table without even stopping. I had to go get cutlery and a sauce basket myself and saw two other customers do the same. The food was regular Wetherspoons fare, nothing special, decent for the price, but with the staff treating patrons like nothing but a nuisance, I definitely won't be back here. read more

Just don't come. Like don't even bother. Wish I would have read the reviews before I came. Service sucks something terrible. Like me and the busboy had to go through 8 bottles or ketchup before he just went to the back to get one that actually had ketchup in it. Food is meh. Beer selection is cool. It's a large Lloyds bar in Hammersmith, with all the usual pros and cons that come with that. Pros: Cheap beer, good selection of ales. Cons: Occasional rowdyness, dubious decor, sticky carpets. Quite why they've named it after designer-of-note William Morris, I'm not sure. Maybe it's proof that someone in Wetherspoons HQ has a sense of humour. The bouncer had a sense of humour too - leading to me being ID'd for the first time in 7 years. Really wasn't expecting that, being in the latter end of the twenties with a touch of the receding hairline and enough dark stubble to strike a match (probably. Not tested this. Don't want to burn my face). The guy eventually let me in under protest. The pint of dark from the City of York brewery I had was also pretty good. But there are better Wetherspoons/Lloyds bars out there, and with the Hop Poles opposite and many other better pubs a short walk away, I'd not bother with this one. read more

Haven't had a bad experience with a Wetherspoon pub before this one. Couldn't tell you what it's like inside, but they do employ a bouncer who believed my very real American driver's license to be "fake" and that I didn't "look American" to him. You'd think with the thousands of pubs to choose from in London they might be a little more respectful to people trying to get in the door. read more

We had the misfortune of stopping in for a drink and a waitress bumped into my boyfriend and spilled a glass of red wine on him, soaking his jacket, jeans and shoes. She left without saying a word and after some time, returned to clean the floor. After we repeatedly asked to speak to a manager, she told me I didn't have to be rude. The manager was finally notified, but she chose not to speak with us, instead asking a duty manager, Matthew, to speak with us. Matthew's only recourse to us to address the damages was to call the company complaint line. He was very short with us and offered no assistance whatsoever. Not one of the pub's staff ever apologized or expressed concern or remorse. We will certainly never return. read more

Sorry but this is one of the worst pubs iv'e ever been in ,as wetherspoons go and i love wetherspoons. The staff were not friendly and tottaly uninterested in anything you had to say chipped glasses,food well the steak you could sole your shoe with, and the chips were tasteless if at all costs avoid this one unless your desperate. read more

I liked it in there, another one of my favourite Wetherspoons in the country. There is a wide selection of beer, the beer is at the average price and I got value for money on my food, the service can be poor at times, I don't like waiting longer than necessary to get served. There are a couple of big screens for the current sporting events. The pub is convenient as it's just a stones throw from Hammersmith Station and is in a very handy area of London. Ealing, Richmond (Surrey) and the centre of London is just 20-30 minutes away by tube! read more

okay, as most people would be aware, any pubs that are included in the JD Wetherspoon chain are not fantastic but this place really stink. i only ever go there on a hangover to drink & eat cheap and this is exactly what i did yesterday. needless to say, i was not overly impressed. in fact i am still, in writing moment, shocked and horrified. where do i start..... they have a wine menu that inlcudes both chardonnay, shiraz & rioja. however, they have not had any of these in stock for a long time and neither of these were available yesterday. so i was recommended the house red (£3.25 for 250ml) which i too late realised they actually serve on tap. it tasted like vinegear and i'm pretty sure it was, in fact, vinegear only with a hint of burgundy coloring. i ordered a rib eye steak (£9.49 with chips & salad) that allegedly has been matured for 28 days. one good thing about this place is that they ask you how you want your steak cooked. however, it would be good if they then actually cooked the steak to your preference. i asked for my steak to be cooked medium, it arrived 45 mins later - raw. i made the waitress (which i'm sure was no older than 10 years old) aware of this and she looked humbled and confused but decided to take my plate back to the kitchen for another go on the grill. after sipping vinegear for another half an hour with no steak in sight i made my way to the bar to enquire what had happened to my steak. woman behind the bar was rude and extremly unhelpful but i managed to spot the toddler who took my steak from the table, leaning on a barstool a few meters down. I asked her what she's done to my steak and she rudely informed me that she would look in the kitchen. i could see her entering the kitchen and grabbing a plate with what looked like my steak on it. at this point i was ordering beer (kronenbourg £2.72 / pint) to get rid of the vinegear taste in my mouth and both my hands were occupied with beers when she knocks on my shoulder and says "here you go". another sign of excellent customer service. i kindly asked to place the steak on the table where i was sitting. when i initially ordered the steak i added peppercorn sauce (£1.50) which i had to enquire about since i did not receive this after they recooked my steak. another 15 mins delay before actually being able to eat. my steak was now overcooked to the point of tasting like charcoal and they had not bothered to replace the chips nor the salad so the chips was now cold & soggy and the salad had taken a slighly brownish tone. one might say that you get what you pay for, but i have eaten more satisfying things from mcdonalds. quite clearly - not highly recommended but the drinks are ridiculously cheap. stay away from the tap wine though. read more

Decent Spoonies down in Hammersmith. Located close to a Nicholson's pub (The Swan) and one or two other alright pubs. Eight casks available in here at good prices. Bar staff was pretty attentive. They had some Thornbridge on tap, so that's a big plus. Worth a visit if you're in the area. read more

Nothing special. Quite grotty, dark and with outdated decor, this pub sprawls from the main high street to the square. With lots of enclosed booths, this pub feels a tad maze like. However as a wetherspoons, expect cheap quality drinks and affordable food. Great if you are on a budget, or want to sit down (there are lots of tables) but not the best atmosphere. read more

Convenient location in front of the tube station make it a good pop up spot for a breakfast, quick lunch as well as enjoyable spot to grab a beer with friends. It is pub chain so nothing outstanding, but they serve a complete full English breakfast which is, if only one, a good reason to visit this place from time to time. read more

I actually had quite a nice cooked breakfast at this place only today at around 12.00.The bartender was officious enough to take a lot of details about they type of coffee I wanted. For around 3.50 I think it was good value and being not too busy.I admit the decor is a bit grim but this place gets really busy in the evening and I wasn't there to eat the decor so it was allrightish I would say. read more

An okay branch of Wetherspoons which provides a nice respite from the bustle of Hammersmith High Street. As previous reviewers have noted, it is a bit dark inside, and I felt there was a bit of a lack of seating, although it was quite busy when I visited. Food was okay considering the prices - standard pub fare, best thing on the menu was probably the beer and burger offer. As always with Wetherspoon's pubs, it's the prices that make it worth visiting - there are great offers on different nights and it's one of the few places in London where you can get 2 drinks for less than a fiver. read more

This pub I found had a usual Wetherspoon traditional feel inside,mind you it was pretty packed on the night I went staff in there seems a little distant and the atmosphere was dry, I will say that I will give good praise for their beer which was nicely chilled but unfortunately the food fell short for usual standards of a Wetherspoon and I would say it was barely edible. You can't go wrong with a Spoons if you're in the need for cheap booze. Living in Hammersmith this is my obvious choice when my friend visits and we come here every time just for cheap cider and 2 pitchers for £12. Its always ridiculously busy though with it being quite hard to get a table. Not the best place for a nice catch-up with an old friend though as you end up shouting at each other, but we always end up coming back here so it can't be all bad. read more

The William Morris is only good for one reason: price. The downside is as follows: 1. Dark as a night in the countryside; 2. Rough as sandpaper; 3. It literally stinks in there; 4. I quite like this pub, it's nice to step in there away from the hustle & bustle of busy Hammersmith high street. I like the friendly staff, dark ambience with nice background music & the little cubby holes & eating areas. The drinks are cheap but the food is not all that, i had a 'medium well done' steak there on my birthday earlier this year & was horrified to find it was still breathing & bleeding all over my peas! Last week i had cottage pie off the budget menu which was completely tasteless, the chips were few & far between but ok. I suppose at the end of the day you get what you pay for, have a drink & skip the food :) read more

Not a great pub at all. I'd been here a few times drunk and thought it was great I guess you don't really notice what it's like when it's full of people and you've had a few! But came here quite recently for lunch and realised how horrible it was! The decor is horrible, very drab and miserable. There was actually a massive hole in the ceiling above the table I was sitting at!! The carpets are dirty. It's quite dark, even during the day, as they don't allow much daylight in. I ordered a veggie burger and beer which was alright but nothing special. Also had a coffee which arrived cold and didn't taste very nice. On the up side, it is pretty cheap. If you're looking for a cheap night out it's fine but the place itself leaves a lot to be desired! read more

Went there with my wife for a Sunday beef roast, probably the worst food I've had in the last 5 years, the beef had zero taste with the consistency of ply wood, I could have bounced the carrots of the table like a ping pong ball and the lump of so called Yorkshire pudding looked and tasted like a boiled shite. I didn't care so much that the staff are distant (I can't speak for the pints & night scene) but if you are considering bringing the family for a meal, the chances are extremely high that you will hate the food and feel insulted at having to pay for it, when, for a few pound extra you would have something that wasn't left out all day and microwaved rendering the food tasteless and subpar. read more
