This is such a beautiful, intimate venue. The GPS is a little off on the address, but just keep driving on the left dirt road to the end. There is lots of parking but wear good walking shoes because the lot is gravel. Once you're in the venue it's dirt, and the dance floor has flooring. Came to tour this venue and they have two great options for your wedding. It is fully outdoor with lots of trees and barns that can be a fun area for dancing. There is plenty of parking area for guests, but the drive in is a bit rocky. This review is specifically about The Wildflower Barns Photographer Amber! She is the sweetest women ever, and let me tell you the girl knows how to take some pictures! We pushed back our wedding due to the pandemic, and therefore have not had our actual wedding reception yet, and therefore that is why this review is only about Amber for now...even though everyone at The Wildflower Barn has been so amazing in our wedding planning so far! Even though we postponed our reception, my husband and I still wanted to be married ASAP! Therefore we reached out to Amber to see if there was anyway we could still use the Wildflower Barn for a quick ceremony with me, my husband and our officiant, along with having her take some photos of us! She was more than accommodating and got everything set up for us right away! And for a reasonable price might I add! I showed up on the morning of our elopement, and I'm honestly not worried about getting married, but instead worried about getting photos taken of myself because I have always thought of myself as not photogenic! Amber immediately made us feel so relaxed and at ease, and made sure to give us lots of guidance to make sure we were posing in the best way possible! Class act. My daughter and new son-in-law booked their destination wedding at this venue and I was skeptical at first: An old barn out in the middle of nowhere . . . But wow. Just wow. Everything was picture perfect, even in early spring. The clouds knew when to part and stop the rain so the wedding could begin! The venue owner is patient and knowledgeable and helped us to anticipate every obstacle. Even though we had the wedding at the onset of the novel coronavirus, we were advised well and feel we did everything possible to accommodate our guests that were able to attend. I attended a wedding here recently and it was gorgeous! They decorated it really well and it was nice. I loved how the grounds looked and at times, my date and I would take a walk here and there, which was nice. My only downfall for it was trying to find it can sometimes be confusing. Another carload of guests behind me actually were following us in as they were lost also. Also, only one bathroom for all the guests but thankfully, not a huge wedding. read more

The Wildflower Barn provided just the right mix of being relatively affordable, letting us do what we want, and of course just being a beautiful setting that felt right to us. I had no idea how many restrictions most wedding venues have until I started doing a lot of research. The Wildflower Barn is awesome in this way. We did our own flowers, made our own cake and cocktails, had plenty of "friendors," and even hired a petting zoo! I loved that we got to make our wedding everything we wanted it to be. Speaking as a gay couple and also just as silly people, they were always supportive of our ideas and excited for our wedding. We went with the wedding coordinating service (granted, I think it was a simpler and less expensive package than they now offer) and the luxury walkway service. The wedding coordinator was always super sweet and helpful. I'm a very organized person so I'm not sure if it was entirely necessary, but for the price we paid it was absolutely worth it, especially because she did all the coordinating with vendors on the day-of. 100% just get the luxury walkaway service!!! Having the tables and chairs already set up when we arrived (we did the linens and flowers and everything, but the hard part was done) and then having them take care of trash, sweeping, and whatever else at the end of the day was worth everything. We just got to enjoy it all. We had a couple challenges outside of everyone's control, but The Wildflower Barn came through for us. First, it was supposed to rain on our wedding day (all day) so we had to plan to have our ceremony indoors instead of in the meadow that I fell in love with. It actually stopped raining so we were able to do it outside, but I recommend thinking about how to fit everyone inside the barn and then flip the space to be your reception area if needed--or get the coordinating service and they will do this. Second, we got married on March 15th, right when coronavirus started escalating exponentially in the Austin area. We had no idea, and close to 20 guests declined within 24 hours of the wedding. Since it ended up being such a tiny wedding, it sort of ended before we wanted it to end, but we got to enjoy the beautiful space and the fire pit all to ourselves after everyone left and it was lovely. read more

I had the worst experience of my life with this barn! And you know I still do!!! Our wedding wasn't first planned for October 3rd 2020 but covid hit and we had to safely move it to March 26th 2021 HOWEVER they whew zero understanding and charge us to live the date because a pandemic hit and shut down the whole world, anyway we pay it and it gets worst because the pandemic isn't getting better and all my family is from out of countey I explain them that my dad might had issues with traveling due to diagnose with cancer but didn't care we ask for our money back (we pay about $4000) they said the where only giving us back $150 because that's what the contract said, I try to talk to them and again a HUGE lack of humanity from them, we use a lawyer to help us get some money back ( we propose them to take the day and negotiate something because we knew both parties are hurting us and then) they took forever to respond the lawyer and now they don't want to give our mi way back, they don't want to give us a date either. This not only very unethical but so nerve racking, we lost so much money that we could invest in some other place and probably are not going to have the wedding we wanted because it's such a huge investment. Unfortunately we are now here empty handed without that money, without a venue and disappointed thanks to this place. The venue is beautiful. The owners, on the other hand... Chris and his wife Jan will find a way to keep all or part of your deposit, even if it means violating their own contract. You will sign a contract when you rent the space; the contract is pretty general and fair. After you sign the contract, Chris will send you several documents, including "Renter's Notes", which is not referenced in the contract and you do not see before you sign the contract. Yet, you can be charged for a variety of items listed in the Renter's Notes, even though you did not agree to any of it. One of these items states that guests cannot damage the wildflowers. Chris charged us $125.00 for what he called 'damages to the bluebonnet field'. They sent us several shots of one of our guests taking pictures of her children and husband in the field. However, there was no evidence that the bluebonnets had actually been damaged. My husband visited the venue the next day to inspect the damages himself. After all, $125.00 of damages to a bluebonnet field should be significant and easily identifiable. He saw no damages whatsoever, and Jan would not allow him to actually step into the field to have an even closer look. We asked both Jan verbally and Chris in writing how they arrived at the amount of $125.00, yet they would not respond. They obviously decided this was the correct amount to charge, a clear violation of the contract language. They had no professional assess the damages and provide an estimate of the damages, as the contract describes. When we asked for at least a partial refund of the charge, he refused. I could spend some time writing in detail about the Texas tradition of taking pictures of your family in bluebonnet fields, or how the one sign that asks guest to keep off the bluebonnets is hidden from plain sight, or even how the owner told me at the event that the party the night before was picking bluebonnets and taking pictures in them, but I think the point has been made. Do not work with these people. They have no idea how to treat customers or respect their own contract. read more

My Wedding was May 17, 2014 at the Wildflower Barn Venue. I booked the venue about a year in advance of my wedding date, which was a smart decision because the venue booked fast! My Initial encounter the date of booking was with one of the Managers/Owners, Chris. He is also a wedding planner and a photographer! It was an awesome experience. Chris walked me and my guests around the venue on our initial visit and gave us a great idea of where everything would be set up and some tips on how to make everything flow. We didn't need to be talked into anything, the venue itself is breathtaking. I knew it was MY venue from the first visit. In between my initial visit and my wedding date, Chris and Janet(managers/owners) always kept in contact with me. They would send me fun updates on if there was a crazy storm that blew through that the venue was ok, and that the wildflowers were coming in beautifully! The Payment process was easy and i felt comfortable knowing that i wasn't just left in the dust until my wedding day. On my wedding date, i arrived at the venue at 12noon which was the earliest i could arrive. The rental hours are from 12-11pm. It's a long time, but on the day of your wedding, everything flies by! Janet and another employee were present the day of from the time we got their until finish which was nice, in case any incidents arose or if we had any questions. The wedding went flawless which was wonderful. at the end of our reserved time, the Owners were there to supervise clean up and make sure we put the rentals in the proper place for pick up the following morning. it was really smooth and a great transition. My whole experience with the Wildflower barn was a dream come true. at the end of my event they gave me a beautiful wooden sign that had mine and my husbands names engraved in it! it was such a thoughtful gift and a great touch to preserve the memory and never forget our experience. it definitely wasn't just a venue, it was comfortable to experience such an important moment there. we'll always remember Chris and Janet's kindness and the beautiful venue itself. The cost varies on what time of year you book and they do offer discounts for the "scorching" times of year or the more unpleasant weather days which is very thoughtful. I'm sure the price ranges depending on annual costs and time of year but for our wedding it was extremely reasonable. We paid 1800 in full with a 300 refundable deposit(covered any possible damages). and we promptly received our refund after the wedding! no waiting period or questioning or fighting them to get our deposit back. they definitely aren't trying to nickel and dime anyone, they were so thoughtful. I compared venue costs all over Austin and most were going for 4500+.. it was so great to find a venue for 1/2 the cost of most. The venue also had a preferred vendors list which made it really easy to plan the details of the wedding. I would also highly recommend their preferred DJ vendor (Chris with C4 Productions) he was an All Star Vendor! i would HIGHLY recommend this venue. So accommodating and easy to work with. I got married here in May of 2014. I had a very large wedding party and 120 guests. Not only was the venue big enough, unlike big wedding halls, it felt very warm and intimate. I absolutely loved working with the owner and his wife and would get married 100 times over if I could... The bridal suite (I got married at the meadow barn... the little alcove) was just beautiful. I wouldn't have a thing. I have to say the negative reviews are pretty harsh. Chris was very clear with us when we signed the contract what the expectations and rules were of HIS PROPERTY. He has to maintain this venue for other people... He even showed us a few things that were damaged over 6 months before our wedding that they were still trying to repair (Grass driven on, trees trimmed... etc). Overall, they are great to work with, and like any business owner, he HAS TO stick to his rules or else the place will turn into a crap shoot. So... yes... Let me just say - this place is really wonderful! We had our wedding there in April of 2014, at the newer of the two barns on the property. I signed our contract to book the venue well before the barn was even built - but I could tell by how well the grounds were cared for, and by the owners' enthusiasm over the project, that it would turn out lovely. And it did! It's truly picturesque and everyone had a fantastic time. Our photos turned out amazing because the surrounding were so cool. And the kids loved the fountain. Here are the only two reasons I can't give 5 starts: 1. Its far down a winding road waaaay out in the middle of the country. NONE of our guests got lost though. But I was concerned about not having any accommodations close by for afterwards. (We all ended up staying in Wimberly, just a 15min drive away) 2. It's true you may want to ask for a copy of their rules and regulations before signing on the bottom line. There's nothing unreasonable in them at all, but it's better to know ahead of time in case you have your heart set on something they can't allow. Also, they are a bit secretive about their approved vendors until you pay the deposit. Just ask lots of questions! The owners are responsive! I got nervous based on the bad reviews of others last year, but my fears were non-existent on the big day. We didn't get fined, or bothered in any way. In fact, I think I only noticed the owner once as she pulled back the ropes to let my husband and I get some photos near the bluebonnet field. All good! read more

When my then fiance (now husband) and I first drove out there, I was like "no way can we ask our friends and family to drive all this way out of Austin, down these windy roads for our wedding." Then, I stepped out of the car and the venue unfolded in front of me. We looked at each other and immediately knew, after the nearly 20 venues that we'd looked at over two years, this was it--we were finally going to get married. And we did. And it was perfect. The venue is more beautiful than you can imagine. Your photographs will be effortlessly beautiful because the venue is so breathtaking. All night long, people will tell you how stunning and special and phenomenal this place is--how much like a fairy wonderland. And you will smile with a full heart because it's everything you wanted, and everyone who works there was so helpful and accommodating and kind (even when your husband thought he rented the chairs, but he definitely didn't, and you don't realize until you call them in a panic at 9pm on a friday night two weeks before the wedding, and they very graciously solve everything and laugh with you about the craziness of it all), and it was also, somehow, the least expensive venue you looked into. I can not imagine a more perfect place to spend our wedding day. We got married at The Bluebonnet Barn last weekend and it was beautiful! The bluebonnets were in full bloom along with some Indian paintbrush and some purple flowers. Our pictures turned out gorgeous! The Barn is tucked away on a backroad (which we loved) but we had balloons to help direct our guests. The price is extremely affordable and worth every penny. We opted to hire Valerie as our Day Of Coordinator and added the Walk Away staff option. I highly recommend this to every couple! We left the venue by 10:30 with everything packed and put away already. It was so easy! Also, Valerie is a godsend! She worked with us from the very beginning and was so thorough in making sure that our day was well organized. She offered some great ideas on where to place things, or when to do certain things, etc. On the day of, our shuttle service arrived an hour early and our ice arrived an hour late and she took care of everything! I had absolutely no stress the whole day! I couldn't have imagined a better day and it was made so much better by The Wildflower Barn and Valerie! If I could get married all over again, I would choose The Wildflower Barn again. read more

We fell in love with the grounds on our first visit and knew it fit us as a couple and the laid back vibe we wanted for our wedding. It was also a fraction of the cost of other venues we contacted. Chris, Janet and Amber are so helpful, easy to contact and very patient considering all the questions I had the year leading up to our wedding. This is a great place to fit to your personality as you can decorate as you wish, it can be casual or dressed up. They provided us with a preferred vendors list which we chose the majority of our vendors from. All were a great value and were so professional. Another bonus is that the venue is byob so we saved a lot of money on our bar service. Chris, the owner, was also our wedding photographer and we got our engagement photos done at the venue as well. As far as the comments of the venue being hard to get to. We reserved a block of rooms at a hotel in Buda and used a recommended shuttle service to drive our guests to and from the wedding. Those guests who drove themselves did not report any problems. All our friends and family raved about the grounds. Everyone commented on what a beautiful, fun, and unique wedding it was. We had our wedding here in late November in the Meadow Barn. Despite dreary,cold, wet weather and family drama, it was an awesome experience and the staff at the Wildflower barn played a big role in making it so. Chris, the owner, and Valerie, one of the wedding coordinators, were the only two that we worked with in person. Chris is kind and easygoing. He and his wife, Janet helped us get to our big day in every way they could. Chris was a huge help in securing a last minute tent. I cannot say enough about Valerie. She worked very hard and was at my beck and call (as silly as this sounds). She was prepared for anything and handled EVERYTHING so that I didn't have to. Her services along with the cleanup package were worth every penny. The venue is down a tiny gravel road but not one single guest had a hard time getting there. There are some rules that the owners don't budge on, but nothing unreasonable. I do wish there had been more heaters for us to rent. The PA system worked out well. The fire pit and lights provided were beautiful. Even in the dreary weather, the venue was set up so perfectly that all of our guests remarked, repeatedly, that the place was gorgeous. And, they gave us an awesome keepsake of our names burned into a board. Having our wedding here was a great choice. read more

Everything from renting chairs and tables, using it for bridal portraits, and visiting to plan and troubleshoot, it went perfectly and I could not have imagined a better wedding day! Yes, they have rules, but honestly after all the research I had done on other venues, nothing stuck out at me as too much - you can review them easily on their website, and decide for yourself if it's right for you! The owners are hands-on, friendly, and knowledgeable, Valerie is just incredible! She will literally save your sanity with her help. We did bring speakers for our ceremony music, but nothing too crazy had to be done - just and ihome and bluetooth! Even though it rained all day leading up to the ceremony, Valerie and the other staff were there wiping up chairs and tables and helping up save all our vulnerable decorations. The walk-away service was worth every penny, so that we could head out and not worry about a thing! We came home to everything neatly packed and ready for us to go through at home. The Wildflower Barn is big on promises and weak on delivery. I got married in July, 2013, and I have a variety of complaints. The barn and grounds are very pretty except for a glaring letdown. Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves, which left my wife and I to grumble to ourselves. All of this would have been forgiven if point #7 (incredibly shitty photos) didn't hammer the last nail of our experience home. 1) The whole sales pitch we bought was "being married with a field of wildflowers behind you." Good in theory, but this is Texas - so if you want flowers, you have to water them. When we showed up on the day of the wedding, they were all dead weeds. Burned. It looked about like you see on the side of the road in the country - except there was a sign saying "do not touch the wildflowers" which would have been comical if we weren't getting married right then. 2) My groomsmen had to weed the area we were getting married on. There is a crushed gravel mound in front of a grove of trees. This places is circled by white stones and raised a foot or two (like a pitching mound) so wedding guests can see the ceremony. When we arrived, there were at least a solid dozen 12"-24" weeds growing in it. In slacks, dress shirts, and vests, my men weeded this. Seriously? 3) There is one bathroom. No grooms quarters (as discussed in previous reviews). No A/C in the bathroom, no electrical for a fan even. 4) With a verbal agreement, I was told I could leave a restroom trailer overnight and pick up after the event in the morning. It turned out, to rent a trailer with two bathrooms was going to cost over $2400 (between delivery, setup, a generator since there is no electrical power in the lot). So I made a decision to bring my RV trailer and set it up in the parking lot. Innovative, and seemed like it was in the same spirit of the agreement. However, that earned me a really snarky conversation with Chris the morning after I got married, and a downright hostile one from Janet 60 seconds later where she told me I was lying. Nothing like watching the people who just hosted your wedding strain to speak to you with their veins bulging out of their necks in anger. 5) We rented the venue's "PA system" for use during the ceremony. For $25, we got a Radio Shack type Karaoke machine that goes for $100 at Costco. Shitty little speaker. Crappy little microphone. Maybe 8' of cord. Absolutely worthless. 6) While seeing the venue, we were told over and over what a nice sound system the barn had and how people can dance and enjoy music (until 10pm that is - Then you have to power down and GTFO). On the night of, we found out that you can hear the music only if no one is there, or everyone is silent. Basically, the sound system works exactly in the 400 or so square feet of barn. Everywhere else, it is completely ineffective. 7) We hired Chris and Fizbin Photography to do our photos. Not because his portfolio was particularly impressive. Actually most of the brochures looked pretty weak. We booked him because he told us he "was the only person allowed to actually get into the wildflowers and take pictures" of us amongst them. Find. Sold. Except that there were no flowers. We received a DVD with 825 photos on it. We just went through and selected less than 100 that were decent enough to print. And we couldn't find a single one of the ceremony that had our wedding party and both our faces in it. Nor could we find a single picture of the two of us that looked better than ok. We have better photos taken with cell phone cameras. Almost 90% of the pictures from that day wouldn't even make it onto a drunk Facebook post. ABSOLUTELY F-ING DISAPPOINTING. Summing up - for some place this far away from convenience, the upside does not outweigh the hassle. We did get our whole deposit back (then again our caterer had it in THEIR contract to restore the place to 100% return condition). Find a venue with bathrooms, groom prep area, and hire someone who doesn't take photos of you with his assistant still in the frame. read more

At the end of our wedding after cleaning the grounds immaculately we were cursed out and told that we would be charged because the dumpster (which was half full upon arrival) wouldn't close. . . We were then charged for our guests "smoking on property during a burn ban" and "lighting a fire pit during burn ban" when Chris, the owner, was the one who lit the pit and NEVER said anything about smoking even though he was there in the middle of our entire reception. We also got charged because a car was left in the parking lot on the grounds after 11 PM... The lot is not locked and one of our guests was being responsible and not driving drunk.. Thanks for that Chris! Still haven't received what's left of our deposit less all of these bogus charges and now we can't get in touch with them. Beautiful place but not worth the price for the BS.. Another negative is finding the place and the long winding gravel one lane roads... I didn't think about this when i booked it because it was daylight but finding your way in and out of this place after dark is ridiculously hard . Lastly, There is a bridal suite but no groom suite and my fiance had to get dressed in the outhouse that they call a bathroom and there is no bathroom connected to the bridal suite so lord forbid you need the restroom half way through getting dressed!!! read more

I was the mother of the groom at a wedding last weekend (Bluebonnet Barn) I've read the reviews and I'll list pros and cons (I always try to be fair...) Pros: * It's a truly special property, beautifully decorated and well lit * It's inexpensive so you can create your wedding on your budget--but they provide NOTHING except the grounds, a tiny building, and a very poor music system * The grounds are well tended and there are gorgeous trees on the property. Cons: * You cannot access the grounds until noon on your reservation day and you must be "out" by 11 p.m. * The very poor music system can barely be heard outside the barn structure, so the bridal procession is a bit of a mystery to the guests. You should consider bringing speakers for outside * The barn is not a "barn," it's a 20' x 20' building. You'll need to seat your people outside and the weather can then be an issue. It's MUCH cheaper to rent a real barn venue than it would be to rent this tiny building and also pay for a tent (We got lucky) * We were there on May 2 and there were simply no wildflowers. So, the name is deceiving. Maybe they only have bluebonnets, not sure--but we expected flowers * The Bluebonnet venue has a nice ceremony area in back, but it's completely in the sun at 6 p.m. in May. There is no structure to cover the party * The owners are overly anal and while I do agree with the poster who said you should review the picky rules in advance, I also felt the aura projected by them was off putting. I honestly disliked the male when we went out for measurements. The female is much more amicable, but even so, our guests commented that they felt they were being "watched" for infractions. If you've ever been to a B & B where you felt they couldn't wait for you to leave--it's like that * They will provide a set up and break down service dubbed "walk away" ($500) but ONLY if you contract with Hill Country Event Rentals. They're not only higher than United Party Rentals, they're disorganized and they run out of items without telling you. We had to scramble for champagne glasses. While this is "on" the rental place, I feel the venue forced our hand. * It is hard to find, and we did have several guests who got lost. In short, it's not terrible. But I think you can do better, especially if inclement weather is at all a concern. read more

Our wedding was held on February 15th, 2014 at the Wildflower Barn. We had an overall wonderful experience due to the beauty of the venue and the flexibility offered at a DIY Venue like this. Chris was helpful with planning (and Janet, too, though we didn't work with her as much), but there were two relatively minor miscommunications that make my review 4 stars instead of 5. One was that information that would have been useful up front was communicated after we had paid for the venue (we wanted a cash bar and found out AFTER the fact that they are not allowed to sell liquor on the premises), but again, we were able to remedy that pretty easily and of course our guests totally loved not having to pay for their drinks! Secondly, also a communication issue--there were two weddings happening at the two different barns on the property that day, and it was amazing how smoothly everything went and how we never really noticed the other wedding. BUT, I knew about the other wedding during the 5 months in which we planned our wedding at the Wildflower Barn, and asked repeatedly for what time their ceremony was planned for, so we could plan accordingly (you can't have music going during another ceremony). They didn't tell us the time of the other wedding AT ALL during this time, so we just planned ours the way we wanted it and finally, on the day of, we were told that we couldn't have cocktail hour music because of the other ceremony. Obviously, if we had known in advance, we could have moved things around or not planned for a live musician during that time...all of that preparation pretty much was a waste of time. Overall, I want to reiterate that we had a wonderful experience. These were minor problems, in my perspective, and I think you are making a great choice if you choose the Wildflower Barn, I just hope that these comments help you to ask the right questions so there are no snafus! read more

Chris was so much fun to talk to when we were scoping out places, but the staff the day of really made the whole experience a breeze. I believe it was Valerie and Amber, forgive me for not remembering with everything going on. It was beautiful end-of-winter in Texas weather, sunny and in the mid-70s. We just set up tables with floral centerpieces and let the beautiful hill country speak for itself. Our families were super impressed with the lights hung in the trees and the photogenic spots around the Meadow Barn where we were. read more

Valerie gave us a tour of the property and her energy and passion heavily swayed our decision on which venue to choose. Valerie was also an attentive Day of Coordinator and helped make our wedding day perfect. The property is gorgeous and a great photography spot. It's obvious that a lot of care and maintenance is put into the property. All of our guests were impressed with the beauty and service at our venue. LOVE LOVE LOVE everything about this place! First of all, the PEOPLE are amazing. Valerie, Chris, Amber and team were amazing with all of the planning, answering my millions of questions and also giving the insiders scoop on best practices. On the day of my wedding, they were constantly around to see if we needed help with anything. Super accessible and easy to talk to! The venue itself was perfect for what we wanted. Rustic, backyard, wedding celebration is what we were going for, and achieved! The Bluebonnet barn was the perfect size for our 50ish guests. A great layout, plenty of things to look at and do. Wildflower also had the option to rent a lot of stuff through them, which made life a lot easier! We rented chairs, tables, yard games, hay bales, galvanize drink tubs from them, and at a great price! What we also loved is that they had a vendor suggestion list that we almost exclusively used - everyone on that list is high quality, and I knew things would be perfect! Last thing about this place - the "walk away" option. They provide 2 employees to help clean up after your wedding, and they do it all - pack your car, break down tables, you name it, they do it! My parents were EXTREMELY grateful that this was an option. It made the end of their night a breeze. I give this place an 11, and am so happy that we were lucky enough to have our wedding here! read more

This was a nice venue for a wedding. We videotaped a wedding there recently at The Meadow Barn. It is on the smaller side but the bridal party had it decorated really nicely. Because it was forecasting rain, they had put up a tent right outside the barn to set up the tables, and that worked out well because it did rain for about 15 minutes and then cleared to be a beautiful day. If you are wanting a smaller wedding in a country setting, this would be the place for you. read more

The Wildflower Barn in Driftwood, TX is a FARCE. Our wedding was nearly ruined by the venue owners, and we actually had to switch venues with 2 weeks to spare! STAY AWAY! I would give 0 stars if that was an option! Many negative reviews for this venue have accidentally been posted HERE: http://www.yelp.com/biz/wildflower-barn-new-braunfels. Trust me, they are the exact same owners. I first booked the WFB for my June 2014 wedding because the venue was beautiful and the venue owners, Chris and Janet Dietz, were very friendly and welcoming every time I visited the property. But I hadn't heard all of the awful things they've done until long after I booked them. First, after paying in full and signing a contract, I was then sent a totally different document with even more rules about the property to which my vendors and I had to comply. The rules were relatively reasonable, but this sort of thing should have been given to me BEFORE I paid for anything. About 9 months before the wedding, I found some awful reviews of the WFB that I had previously ignored because they were mislabeled under a different location. But the reviews on Yelp for the New Braumfels WFB are ACTUALLY THIS ONE because the owners are named. I also heard from my coordinator that in the past they have charged $600 in damages to a rental company for breaking a 6" piece of branch off the end of a tree, among some other even more obscene overreactions. After reading all of the really negative reviews, I was terrified that we would have to walk on eggshells during the entire wedding day so as not to set-off the owners. Fortunately, everything blew up before the actual wedding with 3 weeks to spare. We booked 3 mini-buses drop our guests off at the wedding so that they wouldn't have to drive from Austin. In February we made this known to the venue and they said it was fine. A couple of weeks later we told them the official bus lengths (27-29'), and they said it was still fine. We didn't hear back until 3 WEEKS before the wedding when they told us that the buses would be too long and we would have to find something else. They did NOT offer a explanation, any assistance in finding alternate transport, or any compensation considering I had already paid a non-refundable deposit. After a week of frustrating back-and-forth emails, they finally explained that a recent wedding had tried to use the same buses and that they had gotten stuck in the driveway. They flat refused to allow our buses to travel the final quarter mile from the turn-off to the parking lot. They even went so far as to call our transportation company and threaten them with fines if they attempted to drive onto the property! They also FLAT LIED to my coordinator saying that I had refused to accept the refund my transportation company supposedly offered me. They never offered such a refund, and how dare the venue owners make that up. Considering it would be 90 degrees during our June wedding, we did NOT want our guests to have to walk a quarter mile. With 2 weeks to spare, I suggested using golf carts (an extra $600 at OUR expense) to shuttle people through the last quarter mile. But the venue owners absolutely refused to allow carts on the property as well. When asked if walking was our only option, they said that our guests COULDN'T EVEN WALK the rest of the way. How on Earth were they supposed to get to the venue - fly??? Supposedly, the venue owners don't actually own the private road that leads to their property, so the neighbors have applied absurdly strict regulations. The venue owners even threatened us by saying that the neighbors have hired a constable to patrol the area in case we tried to use golf carts. ALL of this should have been said before I put any money towards the venue, but they withheld this information. So basically, if we couldn't drive, shuttle, or walk to the property, we couldn't get there at all and the wedding wouldn't happen!! With 2 weeks to spare, I had to find a completely different wedding venue, inform all of our vendors and guests, and reprint all of our schedules and directional information for the welcome bags! It was f**king awful and I would never wish this upon another bride. Currently, the venue is refusing to refund our ~$1500 because we canceled so late. But we were forced to cancel the wedding because they made it logistically impossible for us to actually use their venue. I have heard of lovely, successful weddings taking place at this venue. But the likelihood of the owners having a fit and ruing the wedding day was WAY too high to risk it. I would NEVER recommend this venue to anyone, no matter how tight your budget or how great it seems. STAY AWAY!!! read more
