So angry and disappointed! I never been treated with such a disrespect by anyone so far even if we are talking about a pub and you don't except a "fine dining service".
Just got back home from what supposed to be our last night to remember in Brussels and a nice dinner with the family in this pub which was local and very close to the "European Commission". Well...we definitely remember as it was the worst experience from the service point of view which we ever experienced.
1. First waiter - "Can I have a vodka please"
2. Second waiter 10'min later - "We asked for a vodka already, we are still waiting, and we would like another mint liquor please"
3. First waiter brings 1 vodka
4. Second waiter 5 min later brings 1 vodka and 1 min liquor. We kindly refuse the second vodka as we already had one on the table and we keep the mint liquor.
5. Third waiter brings another vodka which we also refuse it!
Wine order - in the menu was price "by glass and bottle". I asked how big the glass is, what is the measure as it was not mentioned on the menu at all and I've been answered that they don't have measures, they just fill the glass until a certain point. I ask politely the waiter if she can find out how big the glass is (125 ml, 175ml, 250ml, etc) as I need to know if it will worth it to order a bottle or 4 glasses.
The answer I received came from someone else which I thought is the barman (apparently was the manager - Trevor, which I find out later on): "This is our measure sir" showing me a glass of wine poured without telling me how much actually is in that glass !!! Fine, we ordered a bottle...
Food was ok, good enough for a pub, nothing extraordinary, overpriced but ok overall...
And now the "fun" starts ... From the moment our food was brought to the table no one was around us for the next at least 1h. We did finished at some point and after about 20-30 min of waiting with the plates in front of us, I've seen a member of the staff clearing an empty table next to us.
I asked for the bill and when he returned with the bill I said that "I will really appreciate if someone will clear our table also"
In that moment he asked me if something is wrong and whole dialogue started:
Me: "Yes, we are waiting for more than 20 min to have our table cleared and no one did"
Him: "Do you know anything about restaurants?"
Me shocked: "Yes, I'm working in the industry for the last 10 years on a fine dining restaurant at a very high level - Royal Opera House - Covent Garden, London"
Him: "Aha, well we only clear table if we are asked by the customer"
Me: "Well I would asked someone if at least one member of staff will pass by and ask us if everything is ok or we need anything"
Him: "You know what's, I'm not gonna have this argument with you" while is giving me my card and the receipt and leaves the table (still full of plates)
I'm checking the bill and guess what? I've been charged 2 vodkas! I'm going to the bar, to the same person who charged us and I'm telling him that I've been charged for something which I haven't drunk. Obviously the answer was extremely rude "Because you asked two different waiters"
He is refunding me the vodka and I'm asking if I can talk to the manager...
The answer was the last drop of a "perfect" night... "I'm the manager, you are welcome to leave now, I'll show you the door"
Thank you Mr. Manager Trevor, if that's the way you choose to treat your customers which you don't know anything about their background, culture, job, etc...
Your manners and the way you treated the situation proved the lack of experience and the worst customer service which a client can receive ...
I'll remember this night for very long time...from an Irish pub in Brussels - European Capital. read more
