The pub has a brilliant atmosphere in the evening! My husband and I had a great night out here, so we decided and to return the next day for some lunch with our kids. If you don't get the halloumi fries you're missing out. We had a lovely gentleman wait on us who was very patient with our children. We will be back the next time we're in Crystal Palace. read more

This place was an unexpected delight. We spent our lunch scoffing so much tasty food, that I'm having to write this review immediately, to prevent me falling in to a food coma! We looked through the menu, and picked out 5 starters, 2 mains, and 3 sides between 3 of us... and it was WAY too much food! There's a reason it came to £53, because we didnt need anywhere near as much food! MrsD and Twinnie wanted fishfinger sandwiches, with fries, and sweet potato fries on the side, because the menu didn't say the fishfinger butties came with their own fries. The result: Too many fries. My starters were out of this world. Chicken wings, pulled pork sliders, smoked salmon on toast, and mac & cheese balls - wonderful. The food we all had was great. Have been to The White Hart on a few occasions and always find it too have a good relaxing atmosphere. The service is always prompt and polite. This was the first time I had food in there, usually just a quick drink. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food, not the standard up b grub. All in all I will have food from there again especially at lunch time as it is quite and I was able to get the pick of the seats!!! read more

The menu here was exactly the same as that in the Edinboro Castle & considering the taps all looked to have the same range of beverages at the end of them I think it's safe to say they're run by the same company. Can't really compare the service as visited on a Wednesday afternoon but the interior was much comfier & the decor much homlier. Whilst my burger could have done with a bit of a longer cook it couldn't be faulted for size or value. A good range of boardgames, some books & I think even dvds were in evidence for use or loan I suppose which further enhances the service provided. read more

I want to give a better review for the sheer fact the pub's atmosphere is very chill with a nice outdoor seating area. But the quinoa salad I got (sans beetroot) was just so blah. I liked the salad description which is why I travelled a bit to get here: quinoa, bulgar wheat, pumpkin seeds, edamame beans and omega sprinkles. The large portion of greens is nice but the aforementioned ingredients still give it such a nondescript taste. Not worth the nine quid sadly. read more

Lovely pub, family friendly and well situated in the heart of CP where decent pubs are making a slow but sure appearance. Food portions are super-generous, and the garden has been nicely done up. Quirky furniture makes for a more interesting night out than your average local boozer, and there's a good selection of continental beers, too. read more

This is my favourite local pub. It's had its detractors, as service hasn't always been great but my experience has always been positive. I'm not a beer expert but the wine choice isn't bad. And they had a cider festival on this summer too. Food is good, not amazing, but not bad either. But it's the atmosphere, and cosy nooks and crannies, that I really love. It's easy going and friendly. I've ended up having random conversations with 'neighbours' here! And there are a selection of things on during the week. Plus a little beer garden to while away summer evenings. Worth a visit. read more

On the cusp of being a gastropub, but not quite pulling it off. I think they just want to call themselves one so they can charge £13 for a boring burger that they refuse to cook to order (Please London don't turn into the US where everyone is just terrified of getting sued all the time and everything great is ruined!). Service was unhelpful and really ... I don't know annoyed? It was like everyone was really distracted like they had somewhere else to be. Or more likely, would rather be anywhere but behind a bar taking orders. The chicken roast looked pretty limp - veggies prob cooked hours before and they figured throwing some hot gravy all over the plate would warm them up enough for serving. The chips that came with the burger were undercooked and a little too straight cut to be anything but factory made and frozen up until I ordered them. And quite possibly the most offensive of all - only "light" mayo in the entire place. In a pub? What the hell is going on? Look - I get that this is a pub dinner, and if we hadn't paid over £12 for each meal I wouldn't complain. But come on, don't charge crazy Central London prices for Crystal Palace frozen patties and chips and call yourself a gastropub. Just ... don't. read more

After much deciding about what pub to visit in South London, we came across White Hart. It did't disappoint. Very cozy English pub. They have outside dining. Duchey, our waiter, was very friendly, polite and knowledgeable. We had mushroom toast for appetizer, followed by fish and chips and 21 day aged sirloin of beef. This is an interesting one. I'm all about atmosphere when it comes to pubs, and I'm not a big fan of the 'gastropub' concept. This place, however, manages to strike a good balance of pub atmosphere and decent food. This comes at the cost of not having a particularly strong identity in either direction, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. It offers a happy medium which makes it an ideal place for meeting people in a group, which I often do here before heading out on the town of an evening. If you're a pub puritan, you may want to take a stroll down Gipsy Hill for a more traditional boozer. If not, this is as good a place as any to grab a pint, and the range of drinks on offer is generally excellent. Occasionally a good place to dance on the weekend, too! read more

This is a great little pub with a good selection of real ales and interesting gins. I haven't managed to eat here yet as I have just turned up and it is always too busy! It is a great atmosphere though and really nice decor, a "destination" pub to take someone. It also seems to have good ties with the community with leaflets and posters on local events which are really nice to find. read more

It's a pub but charges alot for food that is frankly crap. I had a veg burger but for 7.50 I'd expect more than two tiny bits of lettuce and a crappy deep fried from frozen pattie. also the Guinness tastes like the lines have never been cleaned. the bar lady was nice enough but very in efficient cold way. I think change of management has made this pub actually worse! The only reason that this pub managed 3 stars is because the postal order around the corner is so much worse. read more

I love the Roasts on Sunday. Its the main reason I go to this pub. It has a great vibe and a small but good Ale range that changes all the time. I have been in after work during the week for a pint but its all about that Chicken Roast on a Sunday. The staff are friendly, but tend to serve the regulars first. The food during the week is ok, nothing to shout home about, just good pub food. If you want a nice relaxed drink then this is a great place. If you want to sit and stuff yourself with half a roast chicken on a sunday then this is your place! read more

This is a nice pub (part of a chain I think) with great decor and good range of drinks including guest ales. Food can be really good and inexpensive for pub grub. Nice beer garden and the benches at the front are great for watching the world pass by. However... the problem is the size of the bar/number of staff to the number of patrons. At busy times it can take twenty mins to get served at the bar. I also dislike it when there are a number of people waiting to be served and one of the barmen starts emptying the dishwasher! I have lost count of the number of times we have given up and gone to one of the other pubs in the triangle. read more

I love the white hart for drinks and atmosphere. It is our local so we do go there quite a bit. They sometimes have live music, but not the kind that forces you to shout in the face of your companions. Although vie never been to it, they even have a stitch and bitch kitting night which sounds kooky but fun. I've been to the White Hart many times over the years, it's always been a bit pricy and the food is hit and miss on quality, (guess it depends whose cooking), but last night I decided not to return. The pub appeared two thirds empty and I was meeting a friend so I bought a pint, took a sip and sat down at a table. I noticed a glass on the table with what I thought was a menu in it; at closer inspection it turned out to be a reserved sign so I got up to look for another seat. It soon became clear that all remaining tables in the pub had the same signs so I asked the bar staff if there were any of the many empty tables or seats they could free up to which they replied no because it was quiz night. I explained that had if it been clear that there was nowhere to sit in this practically empty pub I would have gone to another of the many pubs in the area so if they could not find a seat for me could I get a refund on my barely touched pint. To cut a long story short the managers response was to send a message via the staff that they could not do this because there was nothing wrong with the product they had sold. What they seem to fail to have recognised is that when you pay the stupid prices demanded for a beer in pubs like this the product they are selling is not just the beer but the experience of being in that pub, this is one experience I shall not repeat. read more

My local, and previously a great favourite. Unfortunately, it's gone right downhill recently. The bar service - previously prompt, cheery and (most importantly) in the correct order - is now slow, sullen, and entirely random. The beer is a bit grim (the Budvar is absolutely horrible - I'm not sure how a pub can even do that). The last few times I've eaten there, the food has been poor. It's a shame, because it's a lovely place, with a good atmosphere. I've had to change pubs, unfortunately. read more
