so I was able to watch the Carriage Inn being built, thinking it was a home at one time but then…read moreeventually I learned that it was a assistant independent get those mixed up independent for people who need a home which I needed and 2017 when Harvey came it took my home 3 feet of water and so I came to a point where I needed a home so I came to Carriage Inn and was greeted by wonderful lady and she asked me if I wanted to see rooms or apartments rather and she showed me room 102 was a model walked in and I said oh my goodness I love it. Can I have this one and she arranged for me to move into 102 the people were extremely wonderful I had some friends already there and they just took me under their wing. That was a beautiful place with and I felt I'm hoping the others walk through the store and feel the same. I have been very happy and content and busy as much as I wanted to be with bingo and all sorts of activities. We've been entertained by wonderful entertainers and I feel like we have not lost anything of the outside world, I know that sounds funny with the world. I still have a car able to move around, but you become close to your friends here at Carriage Inn. All I can say is that it is experience to live here and a very comfortable place you feel that there's somebody here that cares about you

Good old people, nice grannies, good service, great people , small stage such old I lev this placeread more

Family and residents can not speak to administration regarding anything without being told we are wrong. Staff turn over is horrible. As soon as we had staff that would consistently check on our mom then they were gone or pulled to their memory care. The staff is supposed to check on the residents every 2 hours by law and some days it was 8-10 hours. We kept cameras in my moms room because we know she is elderly, she will fall, have problems. If we called desk to say my mom has fallen the administrator or nurse denied she fell, said it was not bad, or never followed up to see how she was. Thank goodness the previous nurse left but we NEVER had any of our concerns were taken seriously and all our family members were berated each time as it is not their responsibility. When you try to look up higher level administration or ask staff to please get those numbers NO ONE- even asking 10-12 different staff knew how we can contact owners/ managers above the facility. There handbook says to talk to director or resident advocate and trust me- the residents are exhausted on who to really take issues to. They hired a business director but someone who knows little about aging care. We had planned to have my mom age in place with dignity but despite paying for the highest level of care but greatly regret moving her from her independent living to pay 4x as much and basically receiving the same care. Our fees before moving were approaching $9,000-$10,000 but getting exactly what we were paying for in independent care ( other than med administration) for $2,500 a month. At least in our independent senior living we felt the entire staff genuinely knew what an aging population needed or struggled with and heard any complaint or issue needing very simple intervention instead of telling family it's not their problem. Oh and that fall we were told was not a problem I drove 6 hours away after watching her since for a week on her camera was a broken shoulder that the director told staff it was an "old injury". We spent the last 6 months of her time there around the clock because we could not trust she would be checked on for meals, showers, routine medicines despite paying for the max level of care. Like I said a few staff were consistent and amazing but it was never consistent.

About 6 months ago, Jim passed away. The Conservatory is a luxury retirement home with an average rent of about $4500. As I walked through the hallways, there was fruit infused water to hydrate guests and residents. Near the L1 restrooms is a wall of fame of veterans as well as a Victorian looking stairway which led me to the second floor. I turned right into the hallway where table after table were the elderly residents playing games together. They were well dressed. We exchanged pleasantries and I arrived at the end of the hallway where the piano and event was. It looked like a pleasant retirement home with an expensive price tag to match. I can't help but sense the loneliness of a few residents as they return to their rooms.

My mother recently celebrated a milestone 90th birthday and Lynda Brown, the Director of Celebrations (yes, that's her job title) took the stress away from our family in planning this large event. April DelValle, the Culinary Services Supervisor and Michael Sevier, the Chef were also incredibly helpful in planning a private family dinner. I'm incredibly grateful for ALL of the staff who take the time to know my mother and inform me of her well-being when necessary. I know she is in good care and continue to live independently. The facility is beautiful and there are lots of activities for my mom to participate in----even church and senior fitness classes.
