Watch out. These guys teach that Christians are to be circumcised, abstain from pork, observe days and feasts, etc. I know because of first hand experience of Doug's ministry. Christians are in the New Covenant for all peoplesnot the Old Covenant which was for the nation of Israel.
Philippians 3:2-3 (NKJV) 2 Beware of dogs, beware of evil workers, beware of the mutilation! 3 For we are the circumcision, who worship God in the Spirit, rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh,
Why does he teach that men "ought" to mutilate themselves? Sounds to me like Paul said to beware of men like this. Saying "ought to" is making a moral judgment. He's essentially saying it's sin to eat pork, not be circumcised, work on Saturday, etc.
Matthew 15:11 (NKJV)
"Not what goes into the mouth defiles a man; but what comes out of the mouth, this defiles a man."
Acts 11:7-9 (NKJV) 7 "And I heard a voice saying to me, 'Rise, Peter; kill and eat.' 8 "But I said, 'Not so, Lord! For nothing common or unclean has at any time entered my mouth.' 9 "But the voice answered me again from heaven, 'What God has cleansed you must not call common.'
Jesus made all foods and people clean. Why does this ministry teach otherwise as if one is following Jesus by eating kosher?
Galatians 2:11-14 (NKJV) 11 Now when Peter had come to Antioch, I withstood him to his face, because he was to be blamed; 12 for before certain men came from James, he would eat with the Gentiles; but when they came, he withdrew and separated himself, fearing those who were of the circumcision. 13 And the rest of the Jews also played the hypocrite with him, so that even Barnabas was carried away with their hypocrisy. 14 But when I saw that they were not straightforward about the truth of the gospel, I said to Peter before [them] all, "IF YOU, BEING A JEW, LIVE IN A MANNER OF GENTILES AND NOT AS THE JEWS, WHY DO YOU COMPEL GENTILES TO LIVE AS JEWS?"
Peter and Paul did not live as Jews, but in the same manner as Gentiles. Why does Doug teach otherwise?
Galatians 4:9-11 (NKJV) 9 But now after you have known God, or rather are known by God, how [is it that] you turn again to the weak and beggarly elements, to which you desire again to be in bondage? 10 You observe days and months and seasons and years. 11 I am afraid for you, lest I have labored for you in vain.
Galatians 5:6-14 (NKJV) 6 For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision avails anything, but faith working through love. 7 You ran well. Who hindered you from obeying the truth? 8 This persuasion does not [come] from Him who calls you. 9 A little leaven leavens the whole lump. 10 I have confidence in you, in the Lord, that you will have no other mind; but he who troubles you shall bear his judgment, whoever he is. 11 And I, brethren, if I still preach circumcision, why do I still suffer persecution? Then the offense of the cross has ceased. 12 I could wish that those who trouble you would even cut themselves off! 13 For you, brethren, have been called to liberty; only do not [use] liberty as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another. 14 For all the law is fulfilled in one word, [even] in this: "You shall love your neighbor as yourself."
Love God, love neighbor- this is the LAW of Christ- not the beggarly elements. The True Circumcision is circumcision of the heart, which True Christians are. read more
