They quite literally saved our wedding reception with smiles on their faces and dare I say it, joy in their heart. They were present in the moment, got the crowd involved from the beginning and had all our older family members on the dance floor til they turned the lights on and seemed as if they were having fun doing it. Their positive attitude mixed with skill and professionalism were everything you could hope for in a company and the people who hold a major part of the biggest day of your life in their hands. From the announcements at the cocktail hour, to the entrances, to the speeches, first dances, and rest of the night, their energy was undeniable. They put their clients above all and take care of anything and everything. They put their words into actions and if they say they'll take care of you, they don't just care for you, they care for everyone there including the other vendors. We had a ton of "things" going on at our wedding, and Taylor and Chris were ready for it all. I also have to give a huge shoutout to Alison and Christina who came along for the support. Support I didn't even know I needed until my train was falling and they were so gracious to help me pin it back up. Now I call that full service! However, it's not just that they took care of everything that night, but how they did it. DJs of Boston made it their mission to make our day more than memorable for my husband and I; they made it personal which is more than I could have asked. I offer the below as a first hand recap of my experience with the band, Brandy - in particular, the…read moreband's manager - Stephen. Stephen blatantly failed to honor our contract. In addition to telling us that we shouldn't have canceled our wedding & that we made the wrong decision (which is always nice to hear when you've had to cancel your wedding because of a global pandemic) - he claims Covid is not a real thing & "the truth will soon be revealed."  I literally cannot make this up & would be happy to share additional detail if helpful. This should serve as a warning to anyone considering working with Stephen ---- DO NOT. March 2020 - Original contact with the band/Stephen for our late August 2020 wedding. As covid had already exploded, part of our contract was a clause (exact text: "In the event the date needs to be rescheduled due to corona virus, the full deposit amount will be transferred to a new date in which the band is available. If the Purchaser chooses a date that Brandy is not available, the full deposit ($2,000) will be refunded".) July 2020 - inform Stephen that we'll be unable to have our wedding in Aug 2020 & that it's been rescheduled to the same weekend in 2021. Stephen sends a new contract omitting our covid clause AND upping the price of the performance!  After many back & forths - Stephen finally agrees to stand up to what the contract says & rescheduled the performance for the agreed upon price, WITH the covid clause. painful. Late Feb 2021 - We write & call to inform Stephen that due to Covid uncertainty - we will be canceling our plans for August 2021 & will be having a small family only mini-wedding in Boston in March. Due to this - I ask for our deposit back. -- Stephen claims that we're not due the deposit back because we picked a date that they cannot perform. The reason they could not perform was because the Massachusetts State Govt was not allowing more than 10 people to gather indoors, nor permitting any live music performances at the time (mid March 2020). -- Stephen also calls our original venue behind our back to check if we really cancelled. -- Stephen claims we're "using covid as an excuse to get a refund." -- Stephen claims that WE are breaching the contract. -- Stephen asks us to change our wedding day... literally, he says we should have the wedding in May since that's when indoor venues can open & this way they can perform. ***note; I would be happy to share these emails with anyone... you literally cannot make this stuff up ! ! ! March 17 - We finally get $1500 of the $2000 deposit back. Note the 1 month turn around, and likely ~ 5 hours in total arguing on the phone with him...painful. -- Stephen claims: - No other weddings canceled - People have 'the time of their life not wearing masks & feeling free." - That we 'jumped the gun on canceling our wedding' - 'All of the corruption going on will be revealed and the truth will come out" I'll leave it to you to form your own conclusion - but if you can.... RUN.It's a shame because the band looks great (...unfortunately it wouldn't surprise me if the band doesn't even know this saga existed). Fortunately this is the ONLY $ we lost on the wedding. I say that only to highlight the fact of how great everyone else was to work with & how immediately they offered to refund given the unprecedented times (our venue even encouraged Stephen to do the same!).Poor form, Stephen.  Poor form.

We hired their full 8-piece band and held our reception under a circus tent in South Dartmouth. But don't let the quaint coastal vibes fool you--this was an arena-worthy, genre-blending musical blowout. They opened with our first dance: "Fly Me to the Moon" by Frank Sinatra--smooth, classic, and romantic enough to make the moon blush. Then the band took off like a rocket. Their emcee? Electric. Dude was running the show like a late-night host meets soul singer--getting the crowd hyped, guiding the flow, and belting out tunes like he was born holding a mic. Let's talk setlist. They delivered funk, soul, pop, R&B, and rock with the precision of a Swiss watch and the sass of a dance floor icon. And when they leaned into rock--honey, they leaned all the way in. Guitars blazing, drums thunderous, and a badass drum solo that had everyone losing it like they were at Led Zeppelin concert in a tux. And then--the voice. Their female lead vocalist? Pipes like Tina, soul like Aretha, and stage presence like Beyoncé on a mission. She didn't just sing--she slayed. Every note was a sermon. Every high belt was a spiritual experience. She had guests fanning themselves, grabbing their chests, and yelling "YES MA'AM!" after each verse. She didn't come to play--she came to bring the house down. We knew we were witnessing something special when dozens of guests and multiple vendors came up to us asking, "Where did you find this band?!" The buzz was real. Based on that reaction alone, we knew we had hit the jackpot. We even saw relatives dancing we've never seen dance before--the shy ones, the quiet cousins, even the stoic uncles. Old and young alike were on that dance floor like they'd just been blessed by the funk gods. At one point, it felt like we were back in 1981, when you popped in a cassette, fluffed your hair, and sang into your hairbrush like your life depended on it. And then--our finale: "Don't Stop Believin'." Our handpicked closer. And they delivered it like it was the last song Earth would ever hear. The tent erupted. Phones were out, hands were up, voices were hoarse. We were one big joyful, Journey-singing family. If you're looking for a wedding band that doesn't just "perform" but serves up a soul-scorching, guitar-blasting, rock 'n' roll revival in formalwear, Groove Authority is it. Book them. Paul was super lovey to work with in the lead up with the band learning some new songs for us, including one for our first dance, and also editing their usual wedding playlist to only play songs we liked (from their seriously extensive catalogue) at the reception. The singers were absolutely incredible and as a band they are honestly on par with most any band I've ever seen live. They reduced the number in their band to fit within our budget (they have very reasonable pricing for their crazy high quality level btw) and also happily agreed to travel to Branford, CT in the middle of February. We received sooo many compliments from people at the wedding saying things like "Why did I only have a DJ at my wedding, this is so much more fun!" and everyone at our wedding was dancing the whole night through (which is no small feat given the very wide age arrange!). I have been to many weddings and always thought I'd go with a DJ like most people I know (particularly from a cost perspective) but this band was easily one of the best parts of our wedding - I'm so glad my husband convinced me! If you're torn seriously just go for it and hire Groove Authority - they will make your wedding a night to remember not only for you but for all who attend :) Such an absolute blast and could not recommend them more!!

When my Uncle Ned hired him for his second vow-renewal ceremony, Evan acted less as our DJ, and more of our spiritual music guru. My blood still races whenever I think of his most tasteful moments, from the staple Lady Marmalade during the garter removal, to packing a full 1988-1993 Michael Jackson block during dinner. I thought by the end he'd given us all he'd got, but then he came back strong with our Top 40, Mo-Town jamboree fest, and a killer total request hour (which consequently just became a Bon Jovi B-sides hour). Evan abstains from alcohol, which at first threw me off. But by the fourth time LMFAO came party rockin through his sick PA setup, I knew he didn't need it to have a killer time. Never before has a DJ changed my perspective on the every day tedium. Since that night in 2013 I've changed my clothes only once, and have mostly stopped barking like a wild animal when anxious. At first I was convinced it wasn't from the power of his music, but I quickly learned otherwise when I went to my cousin's wife's aunt's successful liver surgery party. I didn't really feel like going, but there was going to be a potato skins table, and I knew I couldn't miss it. I showed up at the Elks lodge, unsure of how the night was going to go, when all of a sudden something caught my attention from the back of the room. And there he was. In his dark shades, plaid shirt and windbreaker pants, silently bobbing his head to a beat only he could hear. The night went just as smoothly as Uncle Ned's did. Smooth transitions from early Chaka Khan and Whitney Houston, to leaser known greats like Rascal Flatt's and Diddy - Dirty Money. When Party Rock came back in all of its glory, I was so giddy with delight that I actually ended up breaking some of his gear with my signature arm-windmill move. He was gracious enough to cover the cost himself, and even gave me a kiss to make me feel better. DJ Healey is more than a DJ, he's a DJ Artist. An artisan of music that spins hit after hit until your fragile human heart can't take it anymore, leaving a hole only hiring him can fill. Which my extended family has done anywhere from 80-130 times.

My future husband was with me for the second wedding and he loved them too, so when we got engaged there was no question that we would hire them for our own wedding. We called the band before we planned anything else and picked our wedding date based on their availability! If that's not faith in their ability, I don't know what is. :) The band is fantastically talented and fun, and their manager Paul is responsive and easy to work with. They traveled from Boston to NYC to perform, and brought so much energy with them! The on-site manager/DJ Julian was charming and funny. AND the band went above and beyond and assisted my husband's best friend with a surprise tribute song to us (as part of her "best pal" speech)! It was a song and a moment that my husband and I will never forget, and Brickpark made it possible. We cannot recommend Brickpark enough. If you're looking for a band that will keep your guests on the dance floor and the compliments rolling in afterwards, this is it! Corey was the DJ at my wedding in August and he. was. incredible…read more Full disclosure, we were recommended Corey after our initial DJ had a family event that conflicted with our wedding day, and I was a bit nervous with changing, but I couldn't be more happy with the outcome!! Corey was so kind, professional and excellent in his role. Since the wedding, whenever we see friends and family they without fail mention (a) how great the wedding was, then closely followed (b) how amazing our DJ was. My husband, a groomsman and I met with Corey before the wedding at a bar and we went over how we wanted the wedding to feel, what kinds of music we wanted to hear and the procedure. He listened to everything we had to say and made suggestions accordingly when we were out of ideas. He was also doing our ceremony, so he found some not-as-popular songs that we requested and downloaded them for the occasion. He even found a maritime Canadian song that we loved! The day of went incredibly smoothly, with help from Corey. He never felt like he was overwhelming the wedding, absolutely zero cheesiness, and he played music that made my great aunts and my little cousins dance equally! The dance floor was jammed all night -- even on the slower songs! And Corey even gave an impromptu performance rapping Baby Got Back that had everyone on their feet. Amazing time! If anything came up over the night, like someone requested to speak or gave a song request, he would come ask me or my husband to make sure it was OK, and that was really appreciated. Corey is a really nice guy, he's a steal for the price, and he executed the wedding flawlessly. Couldn't ask for anything more and would recommend to anyone!
