I've been here a few times to pick up protein bars, which is usually the reason I visit GNC. I'm a distance runner and eat a lot of bars before and after runs to stay healthy, energized, and recovered from workouts. This store always has a great selection or protein bars and many on sale. With GNC clearance sale items, you don't have to worry about the dates if you plan to eat the bars (or use the items) soon. The clearance sticker has the item's best by date on it, and it's always a few months out- and my protein bars never last that long. The staff members are nice enough and always greet you when you walk in and ask if you need any help. If I'm in the mall to shop for something specific or just browse, I always stop in.

Everything was fine until I had an issue with their oil. The girl on the phone got nasty - I mean…read morenasty for no reason. She passed the phone to someone else (a guy) as I was still talking!!! I heard her tell him that I "wanted a refund" I NEVER SAID THAT! I actually wanted to know if I was using it correctly, but I never got a chance to ask because the 2nd person (the guy) came at me with an even WORSE ATTITUDE!!! Some people should not work with the public. I never got a chance to explain the reason for my call because I couldn't get past the veil of ignorance that was on the other end. I haven't stepped a foot through their door since that happened! As a weekly visitor this store has lost thousands of potential earnings just from me alone. Tweedle dee and Tweedle dum may not care, but I'm sure the owner of the establishment may care much more. I have since shifted my business to Palmetto Re-Leaf on Saint James in Goose Creek. They are patient and professional! Palmetto Re-Leaf also has higher quality and dosages on gummies so that you get more for your money! Palmetto Re-Leaf has been my new go-to for quite some time now. At the meeting point of King and Calhoun Streets, the tourists and residents in Downtown Charleston…read moremeet an essential business . That includes this tourist, who was vacationing nearby at the Downtown Embassy Suites. Regardless that Downtown Charleston is charming and rich in history, there are very few businesses catering to the essentials. They are Target, CVS, and Walgreens. When I shopped here it was with an appreciation of the essential goods that Walgreens sells. Right off the bat that is a souvenir. There are very limited places in Downtown to buy Charleston souvenirs. For the record, they were missing in action at Target. Without Walgreens I have some doubt that I would remember Charleston with a T-shirt and magnet. Sold at reasonable prices. The essential store came through for my brother and dad. Browsing the aisles I saw the standard grocery and general merchandise that the typical Walgreens sells. Fortunately I did not need the pharmacy services. Nor did I need alcohol thanks to the Embassy Suites Manager's Reception. The checkout process ran smoothly. There is a single cue that leads to checkout stations. In addition to selling essential goods this business retains the historic charm of Downtown Charleston. Although it is modern inside, it preserves the historic exterior of the former Millennium Music Building. My one complaint is that the pharmacy operates on limited hours. They operate Monday to Friday 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM with a 1:30 PM to 2:00 PM meal break. On weekends the pharmacy is closed. Emergencies and illnesses can occur on the weekend. In conclusion I give the Downtown Charleston Walgreens four stars. I appreciate the essential goods and pharmacy that it provides to the local residents and tourists.
