Scott Aron runs it, and they sell what they make. Connecticut Ecuador, maduros, holiday torpedoes with the two-tone wrapper -- house product, not a wall of national brands. Quality is high and the prices are not inflated. You're paying for a handmade cigar, not a downtown markup. If you want velvet chairs and a whiskey list, go somewhere else. If you want a cool, slightly messy shop that still does the craft the right way without overcharging, this is it. The kind of place you want to give your business to.

On Saturday afternoon, May 23, I visited the downtown location with my brother and my nephew. Shortly after walking in, the manager on duty informed us that my nephew's "gym shorts" violated the dress code and asked us to leave. I understand that businesses have the right to establish dress standards, especially cigar lounges that want to maintain a certain atmosphere. That said, the way the situation was handled came across as rude and unnecessarily dismissive. There was no effort to handle the conversation with professionalism or hospitality, especially considering we had just walked in and intended to spend time and money there. What surprised me most was how little value seemed to be placed on customer relationships. After the amount of business and loyalty I've shown to the brand over time, the interaction left me genuinely questioning whether I'll return at all. The contrast between the welcoming atmosphere at Point Hope and the experience downtown was significant and disappointing.

There's plenty of seating with two chairs on the wall, couches in the middle and one table. There is a large members lounge in the back with couches and a foosball table. Membership includes two cigars a month and a locker to keep your liquor. The associate was friendly enough. My boyfriend bought a pack of little cigars (I think that's what they're called). He opened them in the car and they were old and dry. He ended up going back in and exchanging them without any issues. The second box was a little better but still a little stale. I think he will stick with the individual cigars so he can feel them for freshness.

I entered the store and asked for a torch for a dab rig; the Vector VMotion was presented as one of…read morethe options. I chose it based on its small form factor. The VMotion is clearly not a torch designed to support a 30 second burn to heat a quartz nail; it's a lighter designed to quickly ignite loose leaf products. I did two sessions with my rig yesterday and, after a balky start, the unit I purchased functioned but burned through its entire fuel reservoir in the 60 seconds I had it running. I tried the unit again tonight and now it won't even spark into a consistent flame. It's pretty much dead; I've literally had it running for less than 5 total minutes of continuous ignition. I won't hold the retailer accountable for a product it didn't manufacture. I will, however, hold Purple Haze up as not reputable for its staff failing to advise me against a purchase.
