Losing Track of Time on Purpose The moment I stepped into the Vintage Tea, the outside world seemed to gently slip away. A delicate hush greeted me--not silence, but something softer. Time itself felt like it had been asked to wait at the door. The warm fragrance of steeping tea leaves mingled with the faint scent of polished wood, aged books, and fresh pastries, settling into the air like a welcome embrace. Soft, serene music drifted from somewhere in the background--barely audible, yet ever-present--like a familiar hum that reminded you to breathe slower, to notice. The walls were lined with antique mirrors, timeworn portraits, and gentle lighting that bathed the room in a golden glow. Each area of couches seemed to tell its own story--century-old woods worn smooth by hands long passed, now welcoming new conversations, new moments. I was led to a well placed antique couch where a curated flight of afternoon delicacies awaited me: dainty cucumber and herbed chicken sandwiches with crusts so perfectly trimmed they felt ceremonial; a bright, chilled watermelon salad with hints of mint; and macaroons that cracked ever so slightly before melting into sweetness on the tongue. Each bite felt like a gentle pause--an invitation to savor, not rush. As I sipped a floral hibiscus tea from a hand-painted porcelain cup, I found myself listening--not just to the soft clinks of china, but to the subdued laughter, the rustle of linen napkins, the soothing hum of lives being momentarily unburdened. The atmosphere didn't demand conversation--it welcomed stillness, reflection. Here, you weren't passing time. You were inhabiting it. There was no sense of urgency. No bustling waitstaff rushing to turn tables. Just the slow rhythm of connection--between people, between past and present. The entire space, from the antique furnishings to the curated menu, felt like a living tribute to moments long forgotten: a love letter to the art of being fully present. By the time I left, nearly 4hours had passed--and I hadn't checked the time once and they were so accommodating. Then, I realized, the real luxury of the Vintage Tea Shop: not just tea or taste, but permission. Permission to slow down, to reflect, to remember. To lose track of time--on purpose

I was very excited for Staten Island to get its original afternoon tea spot. The decor of this place was very cozy and charming. However, I have to say the customer service could have been better. The woman who served as was warm however, there was a lack of people working. I think it was just her and another person in the kitchen. We waited 15-20 minutes for someone to come greet us. Another guest had to go into the kitchen to let them know there was more patrons. The bells at the door didn't give them enough attention. Another party came in, a party of 4, were greeted and seated before us. We were a party of 3... Our food also came out very very late, and the other pretty were also served much sooner than us. The price $60 per person I think is reasonable for the afternoon tea service that comes with 8 different half sandwiches, scones with jam and butter, and some sweets of chocolate covered strawberries, macarons, and a mini tart. Kids service is $25pp, and get 3 sweet sandwiches that are cut in hearts, with scones and each dessert. The kids have the option of juice or lemonade instead of tea. So if you're afraid that you will not be full, you will. No worries. Again with the service, they took in our order and it took a long time to get water since they were still working on the pots of tea. They also ran out of macrons so we had to split the cookie, and gave us extra strawberries. Unfortunately, one of our tarts had an eye lash on it. I let them know, and was able to substitute for the inconvenience. I really really had high hopes for this place. Since you need a reservation in order to attend the service, I was disappointed that they didn't have everything that was promised for the afternoon tea service and the service was slow that my kid complained there they were hungry. It's still new, but I hope they work on this place so it can thrive and grow as a business.
