I've bought many of their pies over the years. This year I bought a Pumpkin for our Christmas family dinner. It was defiantly the 'Worst' pumpkin pie I've ever ate! Crust was flaky and really good pie crust. That's where the good ends. Purchased an apple pie from local grocer. Very few apples and mostly sugary gel filling. Way to sweet for my taste and I could not taste any apple. All I tasted was sugar and spices. This was supposed to be a premium like homemade pie for $17. We bought a village pie maker coconut cream pie at hyvee- it was the worst pie we ever tasted. After looking at ingredients we knew why-it was full of chemical concoctions including gums- no real food ingredients. We threw it in the trash. In years past we had some of the Village Pies Maker good fruit pies when the pies were made in Eustis, Nebraska. But now the father of our Nebraska governor bought the Village Pie Maker moving its operation to Omaha - and their pies are trash fillers. Very disappointing. If I could give this 0 stars I would. I went to Costco yesterday to get their apple pie, only to be told they no longer sell them. Shocking at best! Called Costco Customer Service today and they had no idea what I was talking about....thank you Call Center. While the quality of the dough and flavor was good, I was very disappointed to see when I opened the packaging that the dough was pieced together rather than being a single uniform layer, and as a result, when pre-baked for my pie, it separated and gapped. Friends told me about these pies, I did not believe them. No person alive an make a pit as good as my mom did. Wow, I'm stunned the cherry, the apple taste like mom's. It goes from the freezer into the oven, takes about 90 minutes, the crust is flaky, tender, not soggy. I'd never have thought this freezer pie could be good. I'm not 100% sure where these people are getting their pies? But in the last few months I have had a cherry pie a peach pie and Apple pie. And they're all fantastic. As a matter of fact it went on sale in my local grocery store and I bought three or four more I can't remember . They're full of fruit . And there is no gelatin in them. I was in town (Curtis NE) visiting my mom for the week and 3/14 (PI Day) rolled around and my daughter insisted on a pie to celebrate the occasion. Where to get a pie in Curtis? I don't even like pie. So we did a Google search and found The Village Pie Maker. We didn't have the time to make the jaunt over to Eustis so we settled for a trip to the grocery store in Curtis. So many great choices; which one to choose? I asked a couple of nice ladies in the store if they were to buy a pie, which one would they buy. They both said they'd buy The Village Pie Maker. I had already forgotten it was in my search results. Hmmmm what flavor? One said cherry, the other rhubarb/strawberry or mix berry. I settled on peach as peaches always remind me of my grandmother, Marian Davis. She always made peaches with real cream for us kids when we were growing up and Grandma was coming to dinner. I purchased this pie uncooked and frozen, followed the directions to a T and for the first time in my life I love pie. It was pretty, perfectly golden across the top. We didn't even wrap the edges. This is the perfect pie. I'm stopping in the morning to pick up two more to take back to Kansas City with me. I don't know why I didn't like pie before! =) Thank you Village Pie Maker! Discovered your pies at our local Walmart. Cherry was the first we tried. Delicious! I make a great homemade cherry pie, but yours is better. The crust is flaky and the sugar sprinkled on top adds to the delectable delight. Wish our other grocery stores carried your pies. I beg you to find a fresher and better tasting pie than what these guys make... And then I'll tell you you're a liar. These are available at many meat shops around Omaha and the NE area. A family member brings them to family functions and we ended up having to look up the company and find out where we could get them. These are fresh fruit pies, not any of that canned pie filling. Excellent pie! I don't like pie, but my husband does so I bought a gooseberry pie for him. It was delicious! It wasn't overly sweet and the crust was delectable! I have made many pies trying to please the pie lovers in my life, and this pie even takes the cake! I wish they didn't use soybean oil in the crust and there ingredients were organic, but maybe they will sway to this persuasion. (Or at least offer an organic option?) We continue to enjoy these pies. They are as good as any I can remember from my childhood. My personal favorite is Cherry. The crust is light and flakey the way it is suppose to be. Hi I just have had my first 2 pies from your company...Peach and Rhubarb!! OMG!!! The Rhubarb tasted just like my Grandma"s from 50 yrs ago..!!! These pies are by far the BEST I have ever eaten!!!! I asked the owner of our small grocery store (Quality Supermarket in Watseka Ill) to PLEASE continue getting the pies...I have tried 2 and have 3 more flavors to go that are in my freezer, a friend fell in love with the Blackberry she took it home I got one bite!!! LOL THANK YOU!!!! These pies are Outstanding!! The owner of Quality Supermarket (Jim Van Natta) said we would do a commercial for you regarding these pies!!!!
