Via an incredible grant from the Parker Jewish Institute someone will be here while I'm away. The agency, Home Instead, is incredible. The coordinator accompanied today's aide to make introductions. Wednesday's aide stopped by for a long visit. I'm stunned both wanted extensive demonstrations of their responsibilities. I've got a long list of things to finish before I leave. However, I feel comfortable leaving my parents in good hands. If any Long Island people ever need a home health aide Home Instead is top notch.

From the very beginning, Melonie made the intake process seamless and reassuring, and she has continued to stay in contact even after intake, which means so much to us. Nicole, who handles scheduling, is also so kind and responsive -- together, they both make everything feel effortless, even though I know how much work goes on behind the scenes. Our nurse, Erin, has been such a steady, compassionate presence. She explains everything clearly, is so patient with our questions, and makes us feel truly supported. And I have to give special mention to Tanessa, our aide. My dad has never been someone who is particularly comfortable with people helping him -- but he absolutely adores her. I had a former client placed with Angels on the Bay. I took care of this women who was very…read morecapable of walking w a walker and getting herself to the bathroom. She would watch her favorite news channel CNN all day and let me tell you she knew everything that went on. She was then placed with Angels on the Bay in Center. Moriches. They give you this loving and caring attitude which is not the case at all. You could not visit when you wanted only when they let us and for the first three weeks we where not aloud to even come or contact her. On my first visit I was appalled on the condition of my client and the place. My client just sat in a chair in a room with about 4 other patients in a dining room that did not accommodate wheelchairs or walkers. My client was very confused it took her awhile for her to realize who we where and she had only been there less than a month. This place is not accommodating or handicap accessible for these patients. The food is not accommodating you eat what they cook which is Jamaican. Within a short time they claim my client fell and was taken to the emergency room and later placed in a nursing home. They wanted to amputate her leg cause it is not healing. She is now to frail for anything. Angels still continued to charge her for her room and might I add more than anyone else. Because they asked to see bank accounts before taking her. Which is something I never heard of. So ask me if I would every place someone at Angels on the Bay, absolutely not. They are not an adequate facility and should not be operating as one. Right after he moved in there were nothing but problems. He went in there being able to walk, talk & eat on his own but left without being able to do anything on his own. The owner is very disrespectful & not compassionate at all. All the residents looked as if they were drugged up on something. Its pretty sad you trust people to take care of your loved ones and as soon as you turn your back they treat them like dirt & this place does just that! Please find somewhere else that will treat your loved ones the way they deserve to be treated.
