The grilled ham/cheese sandwich was not good
    Christine B.

I wish they didn't make this review so difficult to write. When you are out here at Monument Valley you have no choice but to dine here or drive over to Goulding's Resort. And just like when you're trapped at the airport or the movie theaters, you will have to pay extraordinarily high prices for subpar food. The Grilled Ham and Cheese Sandwich I ordered was $18.99. I thought that was a safe choice but it was a horrible sandwich - the cheese wasn't even melted and the bread was really low quality. I would recommend the Fry Bread. I knew I was going to be having that at other meals though. Sodas cost, I believe $5 which is so steep! The free breakfast offered to us as guests of the cabins was extremely mediocre. Also, a very unfortunate downside of the restaurant is they don't offer lunch service. However, the setting here is absolutely stunning. The restaurant has large windows and you can look out at the beautiful sights of Monument Valley while you dine as the light is changing. It's really special. Our server was so sweet and kind. She offered us suggestions and gave my sons a clever idea about mixing mayo, ketchup and Tabasco as a dip for fries. (They loved it.) Try to ignore the menu prices, don't expect amazing food, and just appreciate that you will be dining in a truly beautiful locale for a meal or two.

The View Hotel is amazing but as most people know the restaurant food is sub-par. We went in with low expectations so we weren't expecting much. The servers were very friendly and of course the view in the restaurant is amazing. I ordered the green chilies chicken sandwich, thinking it was going to have some sort of special sauce on it, but what was delivered was a regular grilled piece of chicken with a little cup of green chilies to add onto the sandwich. The fries that came with it were plentiful and looked good, but weirdly enough there was just no taste. I kept having to add salt to the fries to give them flavor. Husband ordered the chicken fried steak with a side of vegetables. the vegetables looked like they just got taken out of a bag of frozen vegetables that you buy at the store. The food wasn't so bad to where we couldn't eat it, but it's definitely not food that has been prepped or seasoned. As people have mentioned many times in these reviews, it's obvious that the food comes from some sort of food preparation company like Sysco Foods. The View Hotel is in the middle of the Navajo nation, in the middle of nowhere so that obviously has something to do with not having a more distinguished menu.

Excellent service and as the name suggests, stunning views. Food is ok. Typical prepared food sold at a premium. But it was good and with this view, I don't mind being a captive audience.

Even though there aren't many options on the menu and everything is a bit on the unhealthy side , we still had a great time at this restaurant! The server was super attentive and friendly, which made the experience even better. We ordered two burgers, and they hit the spot. Simple, but we left happy!

Not too many dining options in the area. Since we stayed at the hotel, we took advantage of the free morning breakfast. It's a very basic continental breakfast. Some of us brought our own packaged tuna, mustard/ Mayo to make egg salad, and our own coffee packets. The coffee served is very watery and the hot water dispenser spits out a lot of coffee grinds. The dinner is sub par and pricey for what you get. Our party said the chili was pretty decent. The chicken salad was sub par and the few chicken slices looked like French fries slivers. A few people in the party asked for salmon as well as other patrons but they were out. My fried chicken was over cooked and the meat was dry. I asked for broccoli as my sides and the server said it comes pre mixed. Unfortunately the mixed veggies was frozen mixed cauliflower, broccoli, and carrots but veggie scoop didn't have any broccoli. I told the server and they said they would need to ask the manager to go talk to the kitchen. They did come out with a tiny portion of broccoli and it was quite mushy / over cooked and bland. None of our food was served hot. Since we only had 1 other dinner option nearby, we decided to eat here and lower expectations.

Is this the best food you'll ever eat? No.... But it's good enough! This is a somewhat remote hotel and we would rather spend our time relaxing instead of driving 30+ min to get dinner. So we had The View restaurant two nights in a row. I had read the previous reviews and knew to stay away from anything too wild. The first night we were here my husband got the green chile quesadilla with chicken and I got the Johnny Depp sandwich. I actually liked my sandwich - it was more of a wrap, but it was totally fine. It was simple deli meats and cheese with a tasty tortilla wrap. I also got the seasoned fries - very good! My husbands quesadilla was not that great because it was missing the green chile and all of the sides. No salsa or guac or sour cream - just a dry quesadilla. The second night we got spicy chicken wings, Johnny Depp sandwich again, and chili con carne. The chicken wings were the best thing we had ate the whole trip! The ranch was delicious. The chili was pretty good, and the Johnny Depp was yummy again! Our chicken wings, Johnny Depp sandwich, and chili con carne with a soda was $72 - so be prepared!!!! She's pricy!

Great view, dry chicken Monument Valley is incredibly picturesque, and we had a window seat for dinner. It was the perfect spot to see The Mittens. At the time of this review, the restaurant is only open for hotel guests and local residents, and a mandatory mask requirement is in place per Navajo law. While the view was spectacular, the food was not. I had their Arizona Fried Chicken, prominently listed in their menu as John Wayne's Favorite. I loved watching The Duke, my first look at Monument Valley took me back to a time of the old Westerns and John Wayne, back before Forrest Gump did his run. Anyway, the chicken was extra crispy and quite dry inside, almost too hard to eat. The fries were very good, and the dish came with some vegetable pieces. My granddaughter liked her burger. Service was fine, our soft speaking server took good care of us.

It's all about the view!!! Food is good, but expensive. Currently only serving hotel/cabin guests in restaurant, but anyone can order takeout and dine on the patio or the small indoor area. Took about 15-20 mins for our food to be ready. Mostly sandwiches/salads/burgers, a few appetizers and entrees. It's worth the price tag of the meal to watch in awe as the beauty in front of you changes constantly with the suns position and cloud coverage.

Knowing what it was going into it (one of only two options in an isolated area that caters to tourists and has no need to build a returning clientele) we were not expecting much. We were thrilled to learn they seated until 9:30 pm, after returning from our Monument Valley tour at 8:30 pm and quite hungry. Service was okay. We had to flag someone over a few times. One time it was because I cut into my burger and it was nearly raw inside. I had ordered it medium and it was borderline rare. The server took it away and returned after 20 minutes to let me know the kitchen was making a new burger. I thought that's what they had been doing? It was another 15 minutes before my next burger was ready and the server tried to get me to take it to go (we were the last table by that point). I told him I'd prefer to eat it here and he was visibly annoyed. The entire staff (about four servers and two bussers) then sat at nearby tables, waiting for me to finish. It was super weird. The very second we stood up, they began flipping the room for breakfast service the following morning. The fried chicken dinner was pretty good. And my first burger (the raw one) looked really good from the outside, but the second burger patty was considerably small and charred. Oh well.

    The Navajo Burger 4 stars!

Food is just adequate but the view makes it easier to swallow. Had the tacos and they were pricey but eatable.

Been jonesing hard since missing out on a taco truck at Four Corners back in 2015. Living on the east coast, I don't have a lot of Navajo Taco options. My husband and son? Had never had a Navajo Taco. This was the best introduction for them! The service here was terrific. The young man who seated and served us was great! Personable, funny, cool tats, really made the meal shine. The tacos were spectacular, perfect, with the fry bread done just right. The sweet potato fries were also spot-on, as was the coffee. The decor was rustic, fun, with old tools, a collection of beer cans and bottles, and comfy seating. I do have one regret, though. The cook came out to chat, and he told us about his band playing at a local venue, invited us to come hang. Sadly, we were on our way out of town. Can't remember the name of his band so I can share with friends who live in that area and would love to go see them play. I can almost remember it--Thunder in the Valley? Thunder on the Mountain? There were posters around the area, wish I'd taken a pic. Anyway, the restaurant is right next to the inn, which was clean, spacious, and didn't have a lick of internet. Which was kind of cool, actually. The river is right there, and, overall, this was a really terrific meal and I wish I could let the folks who made it that way know.

We had been hiking all day and driving here for the night. The town is on the reservation and this area didn't have much besides a couple fast food spots. We really didn't want fast food, so we saw only one restaurant in town open until 9 and were headed there. We were worried we wouldn't be able to check into our hotel so late though and we were going to pass it on the way to this other restaurant we found online. When we went inside to check in, we saw they had a restaurant and it looked good! I asked if we could eat there or if they were closed and he said yes if we went right away since they'd be closing in about 45 min. We just decided to stay there and eat and it was really nice! The hotel was really a Motel but surprisingly pretty nice, with this nice restaurant too! We were just glad to not have to eat fast food. They had a real menu, with reasonable prices and very large portions! We really could've shared a meal. I was only disappointed that they were out of their bread and fajitas which were their specialties. But, I got the quesadilla and it was one of the best veggie quesadillas I have ever had! Only thing to note, is that gratuity was automatically included. (We were a table of 4) so we didn't realize it and ended up tipping on top of that way extra! The service was normal but nothing crazy, so we were a little upset we basically paid for an entire extra meal without realizing it but that's our bad. We paid in cash because they were only accepting cash at that time and so I didn't really put together the "added gratuity" until we were splitting the bill after amongst ourselves, because I didn't write in a tip and sign since it was cash and not card. I just looked at the total. Sooo just be aware that your tip will already be added to your bill :) Definitely loved the food and loved that there was a no fast food option in the area and would recommend stopping here and even staying at the motel!
