People of Portland: you really, really, REALLY need to use the Vegan Caterer for your next soiree or gathering. How are more people not talking about this? Don't go to Whole Foods and get a deli tray. Don't go to Trader Joe's and throw some of those reasonably priced frozen appetizers on a platter. Take my advice on this, and call the Vegan Caterer for your next event. If you're a vegan or not, this is some seriously good food. I would give Josh and his team ten stars if I could!
We recently used the Vegan Caterer for our wedding, and we couldn't be more thrilled with the experience. Josh was one of the first vendors I contacted after getting engaged last year, and let me tell you....from day one he was consistently the most responsive, friendly, patient, and accommodating person ever! Easiest person on the planet to work with, and super easy to communicate with! We worked together to build a menu that reflected my fiancé and me and the food we like to make, and he even went as far as taking two of our family recipes and incorporating them into our menu. Who does that?
Every step of the way for nearly 14 months, Josh would stay in contact with us, touching base and firming up plans, offering suggestions and checking in to make sure all is well. Again, who does that? Josh does. He treats his customers like his friends, not like a number. Best guy ever!
On the day of the wedding, Josh was right on time (if not early), and quickly got to work setting everything up and making the cocktail hour, dessert table, and dinner tables look beautiful. We had a buffet style dinner service, complete with lasagna with tofu pesto ricotta and roasted vegetables, homemade marinara sauce, stuffed peppers, butternut gnocchi, Israeli couscous, a beautiful garden salad, and breadsticks. He also prepared our cocktail hour, serving BBQ soy curl sliders (complete with handmade biscuits - FOR REALS), and spinach artichoke dip and vegetables. As if that weren't enough hours in the kitchen for Josh and his team, he also made us the most delicious little apple tartlets and s'mores cookies for dessert. Oh, and he provided coffee and hot apple cider for good measure. No big.
Half of our guests knew in advance our wedding was going to be of vegan fare, and half didn't. I am not kidding you, EVERYONE loved the food. The half that didn't know it was vegan, still didn't know it was vegan even after they ate it! Even the picky eaters that we knew in advance may scoff at the mention of vegan food, they even freaking loved it! We had several people come up to us and say that the food was the best they'd ever had at a wedding. So many people went back for seconds and even thirds, which should tell you a lot right there. The food tasted fresh, hot, homemade, and perfectly spiced. It wasn't the fact that it was good vegan food, it was the fact that is was just good food in general. Vegan as the emphasis or not, it was off the charts tasty, ya'll.
After the wedding, Josh and his team quickly cleaned up after everyone and packaged up all of our leftovers for us to take home. Super efficient, super professional, and he made everything so easy for us. There was not one single thing that I would have changed about our experience with the Vegan Caterer. I already told Josh this, but we're seriously a little bummed that we don't have a reason to communicate with him anymore! Josh and his team are such genuinely nice people, with their hearts in the right place and compassion in everything they do. We are so grateful to Josh for helping make our day even more amazing than we could have hoped for! read more
