My wife and I eat here 2-3 times a week, sometimes we take our son and granddaughters, we take my in-laws and we take lots of friends. Most of the time it's pretty good. However it only takes 1 rude waitress and only takes 1 time getting screwed over and getting treat like crap, to make a loyal full time customer to never come back again.
On Tuesday Feb. 13, 2023, we went to the Vault for the 4th time in 2 weeks. The usual waitresses know us really good, but this time there was a new waitress we had never seen before. They had 2 specials: Ham Steak with American Fries and Coleslaw for $7.75 and a Pulled Pork Sandwich with Fries for $7.50.
My wife ordered the ham steak, American fries and coleslaw special. My wife asked if it come with bread the waitress said No! I ordered The BBQ Pork sandwich with fries special with no butter on the bun (I told the waitress I was allergic to dairy so I can't have butter on the bun), I asked if I could do American fries instead of regular fries, the waitress said she would ask, I said ok if not I want the fries without salt.
The waitress came back to the table and told my wife they did not have coleslaw. I asked if she had found out if I could have American fries, so told me again she would check and make sure.
The waitress brought our food, my wife had a piece of toasted Texas toast on top of her ham (the waitress said bread did not come with it), she would have asked for the bread not be toasted, just the bread, as to make a ham sandwich, but it came toasted with butter. The american fries where white, not cooked, and had oil or butter floating on the plate and soaked into everything else on the plate and floating on top of the american fries.
My plate came, it had the american fries on the plate, the american fries had yellow grease/oil/butter floating on top of them and they where white, not cooked. I had grease/oil/butter floating in the plate and had soaked into the bottom bun of my sandwhich and I could not pick up the bun, because if fell apart. My bun had butter on the top bun, even though I stated I did not want butter on the bun, because I am allergic to dairy.
I called the waitress over to the table and asked what the yellow stuff was on the american fries and was floating in my plate. I asked because it was yellow and looked like butter. I can't have butter. I showed her that it had soaked in to the bottom bun and that the top bun had butter on it. She went and asked the cook if the american fries had butter on them. She came back on said yes they are cooked with butter, I told her a 4th time that I can not have butter, I can't eat them and the butter was soaked into my bottom bun, plus the cook put butter on the top bun. The cook apologized and offered to make me a new sandwich and offered to make my fries without salt if I wanted. I said yes and thanked him.
The waitress brought out our bill, she charged me $8.00 for the Pork Sandwich and american fries instead of $7.50 because she never told me there was and up charge. She charged me for a second sandwich $6.50 and then charged me for the fries $1.75 and then she charged us $7.75 for my wife's ham special. I paid $16.25 for 1 pork sandwich and fries My wife's meal was $7.75. We were charged $24 for a meal that should have cost $15.25.
When I asked the waitress why? she stated I had 2 meals and that I had to pay for both of them. I stated I did not eat both meals, the cook remade it because I could not have butter. The waitress told me it was not her fault I couldn't eat the first meal and it's not her fault I was allergic to butter and that I should have known the potatoes had butter and that the buns always come with butter and it's not their fault I can't have butter.
1st) I clearly stated 4 times I could not have butter on my bun, because I was allergic and they had butter on the bun. Any waitress or waiter that works there will tell you I always always say no butter on my bun, even when they already know, I make sure I stated no butter. I do it at Buffalo Wild Wings, I state it at the family restaurant, any restaurant I go to, out of habit I always state no butter. 2nd) I order american fries and hash browns at every restaurant and never ever have to ask if they are cooked with butter, because restaurants always use oil, this is the first time I ever heard of cooking potatoes in real butter (as real butter usually burns potatoes or eggs or anything). So, why would I ask if the potatoes where cooked in butter, I never have to anywhere else.
After the meal, the cook told me that he just checked the bottle and the stuff they cook the potatoes in is not butter it's a butter alternative and the waitress should not have told me that they had butter on them. Well, I would have eaten my origin meal if the waitress would not have told me they had butter on them. It was her fault for making me believe they had butter on them. There would have been no need to order a new meal. But yet I paid the price. read more
