This place turned out to be a lot more than I expected. I expected typical, run down dive bar trying to be unique by housing a few video games thus appealing to the frat boy type. Well, I was right about the ultra young crowd- barely 21 and up, but I was pleasantly surprised by the 30s+ crowd, and the family in the "restaurant" side. Lots of seating at tables, high top tables, and bar. And of course, the pool tables and video games throughout the place- which was much bigger than I expected too! More than that, I was very surprised and impressed with the beer selection and service. They had some great choices on tap, and I'm always a sucker for Milk Stout! But more than anything else there were some incredible servers here!! A refill was promptly offered as my first beer approached empty, then as my second beer was looking almost gone I was approached by THREE different servers offering me a refill!! Not only did our actual waitress/server make the offer, but two other server guys walking by noticed my empty and pleasantly stopped to offer another beer. They were so unobtrusive and nice about it, I really couldn't believe it! And our waters were never empty either!! I will likely be back here, just because I was so impressed with the service that didn't mind 3 women taking their time to gab over a couple beers. The atmosphere was energetic but not too loud, making for a great place to grab a beer and chat. read more

They took a bar with a decent variety on the menu and brought us yet another pizza place in Littleton. Went here Friday looking for some great snacks (like Dirk's old Green Chili Tater Tots) and found that I could get chips for $4 or pizza. No thanks. Won't be coming back. read more

Every single member of the staff here is wonderful. They are so genuinely nice, not that fake nice just to get tips attitude, but truly sincere in their desire to treat their customers right. I can't recommend them highly enough. The menu is a little pricey. The only thing you can get for under $5 is breadsticks; I wish they had cheaper appetizer options. Overall a great establishment! read more

We were having lunch across the street and kept gawking over their sign offering canned beer and games. Sold! The inside is quite dark but there are tons of arcade games that line the walls. We grabbed seats at the bar and were treated to exceptional service. We just came in for drinks and their beer was nice and cold and dirt cheap. We had a great view of the kitchen and got to watch them prep for that evening. Everything that came out looked delicious and I feel we need to return just to try the pizza. It looked thin and delicious. While we were just in for a quick visit, we had a great time and wouldn't hesitate to return! read more

We were in the neighborhood recently and wanted to sit down somewhere for lunch so that we could chat about some stuff. I admit when we came in the door I was a little concerned. It looked like just a bar (and a dead one at 1pm on a Monday). But once you go in thru the entrance you can really see there's a bunch of seating on the left (booths and tables). There's also the bar and some games off to the right. I'll have to be back to try the arcade games. We sat down and the bartender came over immediately with menus and took our drink orders. I ordered a burger and it came out really quick and was quite excellent. And cheap. I think the base burger price is only $7. I thought they were a little skimpy on the fries, but it was good for lunch and they were very crispy and yummy. I think we'll be back, and will definitely have to partake on more liquid beverages next time! read more

We have been wanting to try this place for awhile. We finally stopped in. We loved it. Nothing fancy, very chill. Good drink prices, the pizza was excellent, very friendly crowd and bartenders/servers. We will definitely be back! Third time back and just as good. It's not "that's your table." It's "how can I help you?!" Everyone, every table. Great place to hang out. read more

The food is half a** decent but it's not a place to go play pool as it seems to be a day care center on weekends for parents who wanna drink, kids running all over the place, running into you while your playing pool as well as them being virtually unsupervised. If you need a place where you can watch a game while your kids run amok. This place is perfect, however if your a pool player I suggest somewhere where kids stay home and parents go To play. read more

Came here on a recent Sunday evening and really enjoyed it. Meatball sandwich was great. Good pizza and beer selection. One bartender (it was later in the evening on Sunday) but service was still good. read more

This used to be our go-to neighborhood establishment, but after a recent experience with a bartender (Mike) I will never be back. This bartender made inappropriate comments and made me feel extremely uncomfortable. His aggression and lack of respect towards me was not ok. Now days later I'm still shaken up by his words and actions. I would advise ANY female to think twice about coming to this establishment until management takes appropriate action and changes the current staff. read more

The Pizza is decent, although twice now Ive asked to add bacon to my pizza to no avail. I wish they still had the old Dirks menu. Centennial doesn't need another pizza place. The atmosphere is nice, clean, but the SERVICE SUCKS! Last night we order some food and pitchers and it took over an hour to get our food. When looking for any of the waitresses that were "helping us" they were behind the bars pouring drinks because they only had ONE bartender working on a FRIDAY night. They weren't that busy on the floor, but the bar was. This place needs to hire more people. If they would step up their service, I'd give them more stars. read more

This place was danm sexy!!! The pool table eat the cue ball four times, but the staff was kind enough to get it out four times. apps were tastey. Beers flowing and did I say danm sexy beer. Well it was. Orange and everything. read more

The Varsity Inn - Pool was fun - Pizza Near Me - Centennial, Colorado

Such a fun dive to hang out in! Don't look to be impressed by the décor, I mean "dive" when I say it. But canned beer, deeelish pizza, and arcade games? Okay sure, sign me up. It's become a new weekly hang out for me! The bartenders are awesome, looking forward to getting to know them a bit more. Will definitely be back again and again! read more

So, I just left the Varsity Bar and tonight I was disappointed in the service. If your wondering why I left one dollar tip here are reasons. 1. After ordering a bowl of Chili and a Salad it took 30 minutes to get my food. 2. Never was I asked for refills on coffee or water. In fact I had to ask for refills. 3. I had to ask for the bill and to close out my account. I've been coming to Varsity for over 4 years and for the most part I would give you guys 5 stars, tonight was ridiculous. Word to the wise : Don't ignore customers. read more

Well yelp, you let me down again. From the reviews, I thought this place was a nostalgic arcade with a hip dive bar. Couldn't be far from it. One row of old crappy games and a washed up bartender who served me luke warm beer sums up my trip here. I almost ordered the over priced pizza until I saw the staff that was cooking it. If you are not a regular, stay away from this place. Ownership, please hire new bartenders. My guess is you are the ownership since no one on earth would hire this terrible staff read more

AWFUL service. Decent food. Again though, the service is horrible. It's almost as if the wait staff intentionally ignores you.

Do not order the boneless chicken wings. I have no clue what they actually served me. My girlfriend asked for meatballs and the male server said, "Want some balls in your mouth, uh?" Real classy. His service was poor and he didn't ask us how we wanted the bill split up. After waiting long enough we had to go to the front counter ourselves. I gave him three forms of payment from three people and he said, "Yeah, yeah, I know what you had." Then he comes to our table to ask us what we had. No one in my party enjoyed it. read more

If you are tired of the hipster crowd at Southglen, head south on University to Dry Creek, look for the building that looks like it used to be a Shakeys Pizza and pull up a stool at the Varsity. I've been a few times now and have met some really genuine people there. The staff are friendly ( remembered my name on my second visit), the food is very good and the beer is cold. This place is what the English would refer to as their "local". A place to have a pint and get in a spirited conversation about most anything from sports to science with people from the neighborhood and elsewhere. Last week, I had an hour long conversation with a biker about economic reform and followed that up discussing rap lyrics with a 40-ish librarian and a pipe fitter. I'm glad I found this place. read more

It's a big shitty room with a bar, but I kinda just like it. Ms. PacMan is a nice touch:

As Dirks this was one of my favorite bars and places to eat in the area. Their green chile was some of the best.... but the food now is absolutely terrible! The service while sitting at the bar was just ok. My drink was empty several times and I had to ask for a refill to get more. The atmosphere has changed quite a bit and I'm not sure who they're looking for in a customer now. It seems to be catering to high school kids - it's still a dark bar so my kids won't be going here. The menu is the most disappointing part of this change. Ok place to watch a game but eat before you go! read more

Great pizza, good happy hour drink specials. I wish they had some happy hour food specials. Fun place featuring dog boy!

Donkey Kong pizza. Video games. FAMILY FRIENDLY. I loved it and so did my boys. It was the perfect couple hour get away. The people working loved being there and you could tell. read more

I frequent this place with my coworkers. It's exactly the kind of bar I love. It's a classic bar with arcade games and a couple of pool tables. The food is far better than I would've ever expected. I've eaten there many times and loved everything I've had. The prices are dairy, definitely cheaper than most in South Denver. The service is excellent. read more

Tried this place for the first time. 3 year old daughter loved the atmosphere and games. But when you walk in, no one greets you and there is no where to wait to get menus. So we grabbed a table and patiently waited hoping someone would see us. Maybe it was the busy Friday night crowd but we weren't noticed for 10 minutes, fine. After ordering a pizza, which we asked for half of a kind for my wife and half for me, it came out 25 minutes later not how we asked (it wasn't crazy either, pepperoni one half and a specialty the other) it came out all speciality. Waitress was apologetic but she was also running the busy bar. She put in for another pizza. 20 minutes later it came out the original way we asked but at that point we lost our 3 year old daughter because nearly an hour for pizza to feed her was pushing her limits and too close to bed time. Cool atmosphere, food was good, but first impressions are everything. Sigh. read more

The staff is so friendly!!! So many accommodations!!!! Kid friendly during the day!!! Amazing Amazing food, and AMAZING service!! Ask for Bri!!! Best server around(and she's HOT). read more

We went there today and actually had a pretty good experience. Most of the previous reviewers were pretty harsh in my opinion. We had wings and pizza. Both were great. The GM was the one who waited on us and she is great. Super nice and observant. I think it would also be a great place to watch a game. Give it a try! As long as your not going with someone who is a fuddy duddy, you should be able to have some fun! read more

We hosted my husband's 40th Bash here in February and it was the perfect place for our large group....Old school video games, GREAT pizza (some friends thought it was the best place in town), extensive beer selection, and top notch service. Our guests had the best time that night, due to the excellent service and yummy food. Audra, the GM, aimed to please from the day I contacted her about the party until the day after, when we came back to claim lost items :) Terry ran the party as well, and we couldn't have been more grateful for their hospitality. Bartenders and servers made sure everyone's glasses were full all night. If I could give Varsity Inn 10 stars, I would! We have found a new local hang-out, and our neighborhood friends have as well. We have even brought our 3 kids there for pizza and games on an early Saturday night. SUPER service. Can't wait to go back soon. read more

Love this place! Was looking for a low-key bar online, and found Varsiy, so we decided to give it a try. The service was AMAZING (very warm and friendly staff, every server was "our" server and made sure we didn't want for anything), the beer selection was GREAT (a lot of very nostalgic beers I don't see anymore like old style, schlitz and olympia), and the pizza was FANTASTIC (new york style, better than mellow mushroom)! I see some negative reviews on here and wonder if these people went to the same place? I will definitely be back and keep telling all my friends to give this rather unassuming-looking bar a try! Definitely a gem! read more

The staff is fantastic here, Cole especially is a wonderful bartender. Not only are we always greeted warmly they often remember our drink orders and make conversations with everyone at the bar. I hate to go out to places that teat you like $$ and this place is the opposite, the care they take with customers is commendable. Check it out for sure! read more

Stopped in here for a last night drink and Renee was very pleasant. Drinks are priced fairly, good selection of canned beer, late night food (which is hard to find in this area). This will be a new stop for us! read more

Best neighborhood bar near my home! Great staff who remember me, despite not being a regular. They are amazing, very relatable people and very customer service driven! Not to mention, the chili fries are amazing! You should definitely stop by if you're ever nearby! Before 10pm, it is family orientated. Overall, you will not be disappointed. read more

I love the pizza, wings and beer. The service is great as well. We go there 1 to 2 times a month and they always remember us! The Pizza is a must! read more

This place is okay, but don't bring your kids here. Although they have pool tables and a bunch of video games, you will be continuously hounded by the waiters to stand by your kids as they play any of them. Kids can get out of hand and need to be watched by their parents, but if they are having fun and playing video games and can be seen ten feet away there is no need to be right next to them. We went as a group of families to have fun, but were annoyed with the continued reminder our kids were over playing a game with no adult right next to them. The waiter even suggested we would have to leave if we didn't comply. Message received, we will not be back and will find a better location that wants our money. read more

I was disappointed when they changed their menu and I too miss Dirks green chili tots. But the pizza was actually surprisingly good and the inside is so much better than it used to be. We were worried when we they changed everything that they fired all the staff or something (I'm kinda in love with our bartender) but it looks like the staff is pretty much the same. It doesn't feel like such a dive (Dirks kinda was) and the games make it a much better place to hang out with friends. They have cheap beer (lots of choices for around $2) and they're always open. So it may not be classy, but it's reliable. A really good neighborhood haunt. read more
