I think on the weekend it was used for pop up's assuming it will continue that way. When there isn't a pop up going it's a place to grab an espresso beverage, wine or sake. Community curated goods, some by local artists. Love the touch of fresh flowers in the building. Has the feel of a neighborhood shop. Will definitely be back, for coffee or an after work glass of wine with a friend. Oh and they carry Sankaku oinigiri and side dishes! Love Sankaku's onigiri have had them at the pop in Melrose couple years ago. It's nice to have a place close to work that I can grab and go a quick lunch.

This is the first review I have ever posted to yelp--that is how happy I am with the service provided by the staff of this establishment. Searching for the elusive "Jewish Wisdom Ball" as a humorous gift for my 92 year-old father (who fortunately needs nothing), it was out of stock everywhere, until it showed up on the gift shop website, on sale no less. I placed my order and crossed my fingers. Within 48 hours I received a cheery message wishing me a "Happy Hanukkah", confirming shipping and actually apologizing for not having mailed it faster in the midst of the busy holiday season! I have since had occasion to contact them again and they are always prompt, professional and courteous. The gift shop is in Seattle while I live in Illinois, yet they treat me as though I am an old friend or longtime congregation member who has been walking through their doors often over the years. Based on this positive experience I intend to continue to support them with future purchases where appropriate. They are the sort of people we need more of in the world today and I can't thank them enough for the manner in which they do their jobs.

We did make it, but it was slow. I was on the search for a zipper hoodie, but didn't have any success. We're going back tomorrow so hopefully with more exploring we'll find a white one. I did get two small 4x6 prints of some original artwork. One is of the Space Needle and another is of the Pike Place Market iconic sign. I wish she was selling her originals, but I'll settle for the prints. My girlfriend got some hair ties. There was so much to see and places to explore. We are looking forward to going back tomorrow. Day 2 was even more fun than day 1. My girl friend's local cousin bought a fish do we got to see the fish throwing up close. I know it's a gimmick, but it's so fun to see, you don't want to miss out on all these touristy things as a tourist. We used the super secret clean bathrooms which was a blessing. We got lots of great fresh food. We went to the places with the longest lines indicating the food was turning over quickly. I had a list of places I want to eat at. We only made it to 2 on the list. I was disappointed that we missed the grilled salmon sandwich and chowder. We were only here 2 days so we didn't have the stomach for more food. We stuffed ourselves silly.

I kind of thought you could buy most essentials at the airport, but it turns out children's shoes are not a typical travel need, at least when they aren't being worn by traveling children. Fireworks did carry children's slippers, which caught my eye as I passed, as well as a nice assortment of unique, crafty toys and gifts. Unfortunately, my five-year-old followed me into the store and zeroed in on a tiny, colorful finger puppet in the shape of a parrot. He asked me to buy it for him, and I declined, telling him we weren't getting a souvenir before we even left the airport. He was upset by this to the point of tears, but I managed to get us out of there. We had a wonderful time in Seattle, and to his credit, the five-year-old behaved well the whole trip (and the two-year-old got new shoes). When I saw Fireworks Gallery again by our departure gate, I decided at the last possible second to stop in and get him the parrot. It was one of several Folkmanis finger puppets in a wire basket. I picked it up along with a bunny rabbit and went to check out. There was a short line at the register--I guess this shop gets decent traffic--and by the time I was up, my husband was calling to tell me we were boarding. This is how I paid $36.36 for two finger puppets that cost $10 apiece online. Fireworks got me good, but my boys do love their little puppets, which are soft and cute and well made. The wares here are definitely nicer and less generic than at your average airport store. It might cost you, though, if you wander in there with your kids.

We most recently visited so my kiddo could check out the Dino exhibit. Online/on the website they had mentioned fossil digs so my kid was really looking forward to that. A bit of a bummer since that's the main thing my kid wanted to do! Just 1 star off for that. The husky scavenger hunt kind of made up for it! If you're coming with a kid they'll offer the scavenger hunt & I'd highly recommend it to make the visit more interesting for the little ones! All in all I definitely recommend checking out the Burke Museum & also stop by Off the Rez (connected cafe) while you visit!

SIMPLY BEAUTIFUL! 4.8…read more I had been wanting to visit Chihuly Garden & Glass for years. Ever since I first saw Fiori di Como, Dale Chihuly's spectacular glass ceiling installation in the lobby of the Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas, I had dreamed of traveling to Seattle to experience more of his extraordinary creations. We finally made it happen during our most recent visit to Seattle after disembarking from our Alaska cruise, and I was thrilled to see his work up close. One aspect of Chihuly's artistic journey that fascinates me is his experience working at the Venini glassworks on the island of Murano, Italy, renowned for its centuries-old glassmaking tradition. Having visited Murano ourselves, we had the opportunity to learn firsthand about the techniques involved and the pride that go into crafting each piece. Knowing this, I came away with an even deeper appreciation for Chihuly's artistry. Chihuly Garden & Glass features three main areas: the indoor galleries, a soaring Glasshouse, and an outdoor garden. Each offers a distinct experience, showcasing his extraordinary works of art. One of the highlights is the suspended glass sculpture in the Glasshouse. There is also a small outdoor theater-like area where visitors can watch talks/demonstrations throughout the day, offering a glimpse into Chihuly's creative processes. Depending on your pace, you can comfortably explore the exhibition in about 1.5 hours, although some may find themselves lingering longer reading about all the details and capturing a lot of photographs of their favorite pieces. A tip for visitors: Consider purchasing a combination ticket for the Space Needle and Chihuly Garden & Glass. The two attractions are just steps apart, making it easy to experience both in one visit while potentially saving on admission. I was so glad we finally made time for this visit. The glass sculptures were captivating, and the experience brought back wonderful memories of our time in Murano. For me, it was more than simply admiring beautiful artwork; it was a chance to reconnect with the magic of glassmaking through the distinctive vision of one of its most celebrated contemporary artists.

The Frye is a coalescing of sculpture, painting and a smattering of other media from the 19th century to contemporary. Since it's opening in 1952, the pieces on display have evolved from the original 232 pieces of mostly allegorical depictions of nature, scenes of daily life and portraiture, to include abstract and modern art as well. The museum brings together works collected by Charles and Emma Frye, local owners of a successful meat-packing plant who collected artwork from European and American artists of their time (second half of 19th century and early 20th century). Their original collection was displayed in a "salon style," with paintings hung floor to ceiling so visitors could engage in discourse about the various subjects, interpretations and comparisons while enjoying music and company of other cultural and intellectual counterparts. Bequeathed to the public upon their passing, their collection was first offered to the Seattle Art Museum though due to a number of stipulations set forth by the Fryes' will, was declined. Aside from one of the reasons being that the collection was to be shown free of charge, interestingly this also included a clause that the pieces not be shown together with abstract works. To the benefit of the community though, in 2007, the museum's mission shifted to become a space that also highlights contemporary artists, while still maintaining the spirit of the salon via a large portion of the original works shown this way in a large rectangular gallery. My experience here was pleasant, it took about 45 minutes to go thru, though you could spend less if preferred. There's small lounge seating area to take a break if you need, designed using the museum's art as inspiration, and next to that a cafe and bathrooms (which were in decent shape). A small gift shop is located at the front of the museum next to the front desk. Street parking can be a little hard to find depending on the day considering it's downtown Seattle, and I was lucky to find parking on the same block. For more info: https://fryemuseum.org/about

PERFECT DAY FOR VIEWING! 4.7…read more Our visit to Seattle coincided with one of the most beautiful times of the year. By late June, locals were out in shorts and tank tops, soaking up the summer sunshine. Coming from California, we weren't quite ready to break out our tank tops just yet, but a comfortable 70 degrees made for fabulous sightseeing weather. The Space Needle was built as the centerpiece of Seattle's 1962 World's Fair and has since become the city's most recognizable landmark. Today, it is operated by Space Needle LLC, a company privately owned by the Wright family. The adjacent Chihuly Garden & Glass is another must-see attraction (see my separate review) and is also owned by the same family. We purchased combo tickets for the Space Needle Observation Deck and Chihuly Garden & Glass. Despite having a reserved entry time, we still faced a wait of more than 45 minutes just to get into the building on the first floor. The line looked daunting, and we watched some visitors take one look and turn right around. Fortunately, it moved at a reasonable pace, so we stuck it out. After all, we weren't about to walk away from the opportunity to experience Seattle's most iconic attraction. Once inside, we encountered another winding queue that snaked around the perimeter, overlooking the gift shop below. This wait lasted approximately another 30 minutes, but the time passed surprisingly quickly as we browsed the souvenirs from above and mentally shortlisted a few mementos for later. A super-speedy elevator took us to the top, where we were amazed by the picture-perfect panoramic views beneath clear, sunny skies. Seattle's skyline, surrounding waterways, and distant mountain scenery made this trip well worth the wait. Here are a few fun things we enjoyed while at the top of the Space Needle: *Skyhigh Selfie Stations. These stations let you capture fun photos of yourself against the backdrop of Seattle. Some offer creative photo effects, including 360-degree images. You can access your complimentary digital photos through the official Space Needle app, and instructions are provided at the stations. *The Loupe Lounge (additional cost). Located one level below the outdoor observation deck, this is a great spot to enjoy drinks and snacks while taking in the views and experiencing the rotating floor (see my separate review). *The Skyriser glass benches. These tilted glass benches are not for the faint of heart! You know that feeling when you have to trust someone behind you to catch you during a free fall? Thankfully, there's no actual falling involved. As you sit down and lean back against the angled glass, you're placing your trust in the structural engineering beneath you. It's a thrilling way to pose for photos while suspended high above the city. Many years ago, I dined at the Space Needle when it still had its famous rotating restaurant, but the SkyCity Restaurant closed in 2017, and in 2018, the observation experience reopened. Today, The Loupe offers a very different experience, with a rotating glass floor that reveals mesmerizing views straight down to the structure, elevators, and streets far below. It's a fascinating perspective you simply can't get from an ordinary observation deck. On your way back down, the large souvenir shop is impossible to miss. With its generous floor space and extensive assortment of merchandise, you'll find plenty of ways to commemorate your Seattle adventure. Needless to say, we didn't leave empty-handed.
