I visited most of the local dealerships and did not care for any. I dropped in on a few independent shops and got the sense that they did not need my business. It wasn't until I did a desperate hail mary Google search for "Honda motorcycle repair" that I found Sic Customs. I had recently come into a twenty-year-old ST1100 that had sat in storage for half a decade that I needed to get up and running. I called the shop and talked to the owner, Patrick, who sounded very knowledgeable and professional over the phone. Based on that, I decided to take my bike and my business his shop. These guys were on the case! Sic Customs got my bike up and running for a very reasonable sum and were very straight-forward about their schedule and commitments. Patrick also was extremely helpful with some follow-up questions I had after the service. You could argue whether or not they are the perfect independent shop, but they are definitely skilled, honest, and reasonably-priced. And if you've got all that in one shop, what more could you want?

Late last summer the…read moreimpeller failed and it took on water, they charged us $2,100 for a repair (boil out procedure, new impeller, impeller shaft, seals) and claimed it was lake-tested afterwards -- it wasn't. Less than two minutes back on the water, the supercharger blew, sending shrapnel into the intercooler -- another $3,000+ repair. A certified tech I know later told me the engine wasn't fully cleared of water, likely causing the failure. It didn't end there. First time on the water this spring and an oil leak from a broken O-ring (their fault) causing a fourth trip to see them. All this and we rode it for less than an hour. The staff acts like they're doing you a favor fixing their own mistakes. The service manager Joie is unhelpful, and the GM, Susan Newsome, refused to speak with me. Incompetent service from top to bottom. Avoid this business.

Customer service at its finest at Lake Norman Powersports in Cornelius (not!)…read more My husband took our Can Am in Tuesday morning for a Wednesday appointment for oil/filter change, greasing, and inspection for a grinding noise when turning. When he went to pick it up today (Thursday) he was told the technician was "just finishing it up". After he paid the $576 bill, they brought it out and loaded on the trailer. While they were securing, my husband walked around and was looking at the grease fittings. Luckily, he knows what he is looking at and could tell that no greasing had been done. He went back into the office and told "Frank" that it had not been greased. He was told "oh you were a little early". Keep in mind, the appointment was Wednesday. The technician brought it back in, had it in for less than 10 minutes, and out the door it came again. Once again, the Can Am was loaded, and once again my husband walked around and looked. And, once again, he could tell at least one of the fittings had not been greased. After going back in and telling them the issue, they sent the tech back out with him. The tech immediately said "I greased all of the fittings on this", to which my husband (who was regrettably quite annoyed by now) pointed to one and said "does this f#$&ing fitting look greased?" The tech's response was "I guess I forgot one, and you're an a#$hole." Wow. Supposedly, the noise we hear is because both front axles need to be replaced to the cost of probably close to $800. Uh huh, right, and we are just going to bring it right back to have you do that. I told my husband he should check to make sure the oil really got changed.
