Took package to UPS on Saturday 3/28. Wanted overnight delivery from Baltimore MD to Rehoboth Beach DE (2.5 hours away) They said soonest delivery on Monday 3/30 by 5pm. I paid extra to have package delivered (total charge was $53.82). Package was not delivered until Tuesday at 11:30am. I called UPS directly and was referred to the individual store #1162. Store refused credit for the difference saying it's not "guaranteed" by delivery date/time. That's what I paid for! I wouldn't have paid extra if I didn't need it sooner! Both UPS and the store refused to issue a credit for the difference, probably $10-15 difference. Terrible customer service, I had to search for a phone number as it isn't listed in the app. Also the first person I spoke to didn't understand American English so I had to repeat several times and she still got it wrong, thought I hadn't received package when I told her several times I had and I was just seeking a price adjustment for the delay. Loud and clear, customer's full name, their full 16 digit credit card number, expiration date and security number on the back of their card. How in 2022 can a business be so irresponsible!? I needed to notarize a document, was told $7. Upon paying I was charged an additional $4 because they asked me to send the document to their email address. It is not legal in the state of Maryland, ACCORDING TO STATE NOTARY PUBLIC GUIDELINES for a Notary public to charge more than $4 per signature. The notary charged me $7 for his signature, his single, ONE Signature. Upon after I informed him, that in the state of Maryland, notary publics cannot charge more than $4 for a single signature. He simply said nothing and did nothing but ask for the $7. Is it so hard to keep up to date with standards? I Needed to ship out the original document, but he told me it was o k to ship it out in a yellow paper envelope, now If I was a normal customer, sure I'd believe him. But I work at 2 different UPS locations, and we NEVER ship papers or important documents in yellow paper envelopes, because they get SHREDDED on the conveyor belts. I told him no, and I paid for express delivery to get the free express envelope that is sealed and approved for conveyor belts. This employee (potentially the owner) doesn't care about state laws or UPS Shipping policies. DO NOT trust what they say! I am truly disheartened by reading Google reviews about store 1162 and furthermore realizing that my experience with this particular UPS store was negative as well. On Wednesday, August 24th, 2022 at approximately 5PM, I arrived to this location for an UPS store to store pickup. I am a healthcare traveler, so this is the easiest route for my loved ones to send me packages. This particular package was extremely valuable. Upon being asked if I needed assistance, I explained that I was indeed there for a pickup, stated my full name, and provided identification. Supposedly, my name was typed into the system and there was no record found. I easily stated that I had my tracking number already pulled up to easily assist with this. That statement was not responded to, but I was then asked if I had a mailbox at the location, to which I replied no. He proceeds to turn around to counter behind him, shift some packages around and state that my package couldn't not have made it. I repeated once again that my I had my tracking information available, that it was delivered at 11:36AM and proof of delivery had been provided stating that it was signed by Yang. Mr. Yang of course, happens to be who is providing me assistance. He proceeds to tell me that some packages were just dropped off by the truck that we both just saw leave, in which my response is a repeat of the time and name for proof of delivery. At this time, he walks to the back area for literally less than a minute, returns, and tells me my package is not there. Although I am still standing in front of him, he loudly states "next customer". He is then rude to the next black female that is a paying mailbox customer and asking for verification for her packages. He beckons next customer before she is finished as well. An Asian couple approaches next, to whom he kindly provides ample time, assistance with printing a label, packaging, and appropriate information for shipment. He NEVER returns to look my way or address my presence. By this time, a black employee (my apologies for not getting this wonderful gentleman's name) is assisting another customer, but is able to notice my frustration. He asks my first name, smiles, and states that he's sure he saw a package with that name. I'm on the phone with the sender of the package to identify the exterior of the package to easier locate my package. As soon as this employee finishes with this customer (helping her with 10+ Amazon returns with patience by the way), he smiles and asks me to approach, finds my package within 1 minute, smiles and wishes me a wonderful evening. In my particular situation, I sense plenty of racial bias! However looking at reviews, I'm able to recognize that while this seems to be the majority, he treats many of different customers with different backgrounds with this same attitude. To find out that he is the business owner at least 8 years and that this is still continuing is ridiculous, sad, and disgraceful. I'd advise POC to please not give their service in a business where we are clearly not welcome. For any customer, Mr. Yang clearly tells others in review responses that there are 40+ other locations nearby, please choose another. I hope this matter can be investigated, escalated, or settled. This does not seem to be a single incident and should be addressed of behalf of UPS Stores' image. read more

On March 27, a package was delivered. On April 4, the package was not there. Mr. Yang was asked to check & confirm, he dismissed the request. I called The UPS Store, no answer, however using another number, The UPS Store answered. Mr. Yang confirmed that package is there. I'd just left less than 10 minutes before. I finally retrieved the package days later, when I inquired about renewal. Mr Yang dismissed me & said not yet. At this time, I have important federal mail en route. I asked Mr. Yang to simply call when it arrived so that I'm not wasting time running back & forth. I never heard from Mr. Yang, so I had to run down to the store every day to check for myself. On Wednesday, April 10, 2024. I entered the store to check on the mail again. Mr. Yang, looked in the mailbox, "No, mail!" Then he approached me, "Your, your daughter? She's [my first name], right? I explain that's my name. Mr. Yang dismissed me & still misnamed me. "Your renewal is coming up! She complain too much!" I tried showing Mr. Yang that I received a package on March 27 that was not there on April 4, when my daughter arrived, but he's steadily threatening me about refusal of service due to filing a BBB Complaint. Once he realized that I was right, he apologized and then walked away from me without answering my next questions, moving onto the next customer. I left feeling attacked, he was retaliating against me for filing a BBB Complaint. I have a federal mail sitting at The UPS Store, that I am scared to retrieve because Mr. Yang's behavior towards me. I called UPS HQ, who confirmed that each UPS Store is an independent franchise, therefore Mr. Yang has the authority and power to refuse service, as he pleases. After reading the reviews, it's evident majority of the poor reviews are from minorities. I get it now, I will be taking my service elsewhere. Beware the shakedown! $$$ mysterious and expensive fees galore. We had our own pre- printed airbills and needed the UPS envelopes to send out items. Told $4.50 service fee. Huh? Gentleman customer behind us needed to fax. He was told a $4.50 service fee. What? Ching Ching. So it went. How lucrative. We asked the UPS guy: "fees for the envelopes?" No, a service fee. Uh, okay. This service feels like extortion. The receipt stated " misc"?! That's one way to put it. Highway robbery to pay this crazy so-called service fee for what's needed to complete our business. Not cool. Greed at its best. Not sure this is legit. Buyer beware. Note: We had "prepaid" labels for our mailing and when we asked for an envelope we were charged the money! This UPS franchise was an all around disappointing experience. I will unfortunately never use them again. The store manager at store 1162 on Lombard St was not the least bit helpful and overcharged me to pick up my packages that I'd ordered from a third party retailer. These packages contained Christmas gifts for a giving tree program, all to be donated to children in Central America. Every dollar spent on administrative costs is less money for gifts to the children. When I arrived to UPS to pick up my packages and was told I would be charged $20 per box for the 10 boxes, I was shocked. These packages were shipped from the retailer through "UPS Access Point" shipping, meaning they go directly to a UPS store so as to avoid them being left at my house unattended. I pick them up directly from UPS. However, in this case, store 1162's policy was to charge an additional, hidden fee. I spoke to UPS corporate and they assured me this was a store policy and they had discretion to help me. However, the store manager was not the least bit nice or sympathetic. He claimed that the third party retailee did not check the box "UPS access point" when they processed the order. Thus the Order was sent to their store but it didn't say "UPS Access Point". So, he insisted I must pay, despite that it cost the store no extra money to receive my packages. They gladly took my money and didn't think twice. It's really too bad in these hard times coming out of COVID people can't be more understanding, especially when someone is trying to do good. Shame on you UPS. read more

Brought in a prepaid package that only needed a box. It was a large item - I was first quoted at $52 for packaging. After trying to fathom how a box would cost that much, I was requoted at $41. The employee said that they would not let me assemble the box myself, and it required an hour worth of packaging time: that was why the price was so high. Please keep in mind, this item was a microwave, not a surfboard or Monet. Ridiculous. For context, I have never voluntarily written a review of anything in my life until today. I went here to ship a small package (shoes) and they charged me about 7.50 $ just for a small cardboard box to put my shoes in. Although very pricey for a simple box you could literally get for a couple cents anywhere else, I wasn't bothered by the exorbitant price as I suppose it was my fault for not brining a box to ship my items in. Then, the employee tried to charge me 2$ to use their tape (which is absolutely ridiculous in the first place as almost any other UPS, Fedex, or USPS will provide courtesy tape.) Fortunately, I brought my own tape so wasn't robbed of 2 dollars there. The employee helps me assemble and tape the box I just paid 7.50$ for. As I am ready to pay, the store owner comes over and tells the employee that she needs to be charging me more. He adds a 3$ service fee which he doesn't explain to me. I ask the employee why there is a 3$ service fee on top of the 7.50$ I am paying for the box and she doesn't have an answer. The store owner then has the audacity to tell me that using the store's tape is 2$ but having an employee tape something for you is 3$. Thats right, 3$ if an employee sticks a piece of tape on whatever box you are trying to ship. Thankfully, I successfully argue that the employee held the box and I applied all of the tape with my own two hands. The employee backs me up on this so the manager/owner drops the extra 3 dollars. Overall, it is extremely clear that the staff at this store is not the issue, but rather the owner of this UPS franchise is a horrible person. All he cares about is squeezing as much money out of you as possible by charging exorbitant, ridiculous hidden fees for services any rational, customer-friendly store would provide for free. Because my drop offs usually have gone without any problems, I'll give this store a star. But today was the worse kind of customer service I've seen yet since moving to Baltimore recently. I searched online for a notary for a very important document. This store, nearest to me, provided notary service and I could make an appointment. I did. I arrived 20 minutes early. Two young women behind the counter. One responds to my mention that I was early for an 11:30am appt. She tells me the notary person stepped out and will be back in 15 mins. I said, ok, I'll come back. I come back at 11:26am, she says he's still not back. I ask if they can text him that his appt is here. She says she can't because he's on a personal errand. I asked again, reminding her I have an appt and that I'm here on business. The other woman then tells me that they don't take appts and that this person won't be back until 12:30! So why did the other woman say he'll be back in 15 mins, I asked. She says "well, she didn't know." But you were standing right next to her when the original convo happened and you said nothing. If I could give this store a negative star, I would. In fact, it's impossible to quantify the level of horrible waiting for you just inside the doors. Maybe just paint a huge red "X" on the door and call it day. I went in today to send some very important financial documents - the title company provided me with a pre-printed shipping label. Should be a breeze right, just grab an envelope, shove the paperwork in said envelope, and go, right? Wrong. I ask the "gentleman" behind the counter for an envelope and show him that I have a pre-printed label. He gets the envelope, picks up my documents and prepares the envelope for shipping. "Thank you" says I. Mr. Personality then requests one dollar. Huh? "I have a preprinted label, it's already paid for..." I say. He tells me that the dollar is for handling. Handling? Yes, the dollar is what he charges to put the documents in the envelope and affix the label onto the front. Seriously. I tell him (calmly) that I didn't ask him to do that, so I don't understand why I should pay. he proceeds to get louder and louder telling me that I owe the dollar for handling and that's just the way it is...and then proceeds to rip open my envelope saying "fine...get out." At no point was I loud or rude...I simply asked a question and questioned a charge. This nutter then picks up the phone and calls the cops to report that he's being harassed and needs assistance! Seriously. I left of course - and full disclosure I DID call him an asshole on the way out. I ended up going to the UPS store at the Hilton on Eutaw. I had a bad experience at this store on November 19, 2014. I took a birthday gift (less than a pound in weight) that I wanted to mail to California and asked how much it cost to ship it in two days, and was told it was more than $150! I asked how much it was to send it without any rush and was told it cost $15 and it would take a week. When I told the employee I would be going to the USPS and reached for the package, she stopped me to caution that the USPS cannot guarantee that they will deliver the package, cannot tell me when it will arrive, and cannot insure it. I was surprised because all of these are 100% false. I am posting because I was caught off guard by both the exorbitant cost and the employee's blatant lies about their competitor. There aren't many businesses you can turn to for sending and receiving packages - there's UPS, USPS, FedEx, DHL - so it almost doesn't matter that I was unsatisfied with this UPS Store. Still, if you can help it, you should avoid this store. Last week, anticipating a package, I called the UPS Store on Lombard to ask what the protocol was for receiving a package. How much did it cost? Would they give a call once it arrived? I was told there was a fee for receiving and an additional fee for every night they held the package. I was also told that if the package had the word "Hold for pick-up" and a phone number, that they would call me when it arrived. I repeated the instructions back to the UPS Store: "So, if the person delivering the package to me writes 'Hold for pickup' and puts my phone number on the package, you'll give me a call the day it arrives?" "Yes," he replied. That's what the sender did. He wrote "hold for pickup" clearly on the package and put my phone number there. I called the UPS Store today, just to be sure and wanting to avoid the holding fee, if my package had arrived. "Yes," he said. "Did it arrive today?" "Yes." I picked it up, and was told then that it had arrived yesterday. YESTERDAY. I was also told I had to pay the hold fee, even though I hadn't been called. The person, who I assume is the manager (and, unfortunately enough, not the person I'd spoken on the phone with) said it was my fault the package was held overnight. "YOU call. You're supposed to call." I told him that I was told by an employee of this very store that if the package bore the words "hold for pickup" that I would be the one receiving a phone call. I pointed out the words on my package that said "hold for pickup", followed by a phone number. He said, "How are we supposed to know to call you? You call if you want to pick up your package." I repeated my claim using different words (maybe he didn't get it the first time). I asked him at least to acknowledge that it wasn't my fault that I got bad information from an employee. He responded, "We can't know to call. You call." More back and forth like this escalated to the point where I was almost shouting, "I was TOLD you'd call! I double-checked! There are instructions on the package to call which I wouldn't have even bothered with if someone at YOUR store didn't give me said instructions." He wouldn't do that. I don't blame him for saying "I don't want to talk to you anymore," because I was clearly upset, but I didn't start out being upset. He didn't hear me, wouldn't listen, wouldn't acknowledge that one of his employees gave me bad information. Nothing. His ears worked about as well as those of corn. I did feel bad for the other employee who was there. He had to witness this shouting match and was very sympathetic about it. Pick up your packages somewhere else. read more

The worst. I submitted 4 jobs to be printed. Two were done completely wrong (despite exact specifications). Fine, people make mistakes. Because I didn't have time for them to reprint the material, I asked a refund (nearly $200). It has now been 3 weeks and I still have not been refunded, despite 5 phone conversations with these people. Apparently, only one person at the store can do refunds, and this person is never at work. Plus, while they acknowledge I will be refunded the money, they cannot tell me for how much - it appears that it is at their discretion despite me telling them the exact dollar amount I was charged for the 2 bad print jobs. If I don't get a refund within the next few days, I'm filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. Go somewhere else. read more

Listed on DHL site as a drop off location but guy wouldn't let me drop off my DHL package. He said that I could only ship there meaning I would have to pay them for another label that wasn't needed.
