The food isn't terrible but very inconsistent. We order from doordash.com all the time and yesterday ordered chicken Alfredo which came with no sauce at all. Just noodles and chicken. Tried again today. Ordered cajun chicken Alfredo and the cajun seasoning came in a separate container. Not cooked into the sauce. Very weird and didn't taste right at all. Their pizza tastes okay but the crust is usually soggy. A safe bet is the lasagna. I've never had any problems with this. You can do better read more

This review is based on a single visit. When I go back it will not be for the pizza. Pizza preferences are highly subjective (one person's trash is another person's treasure). My preference is for a thin bottom crust with chewy edges and a light hand with the cheese. Not so at UC. Bottom crust was very "bready" and thick. The mozzarella cheese equally thick and really gooey. If you like a slice of cheese pizza to resemble a grilled cheese sandwich, you will be pleased. The fat content must rank right up there, so if you are prone to post-prandial indigestion, you might want to request a lighter hand. But if you like it like that, you will be pleased. All that said, the overall experience was pleasant enough for me to return someday. Just not for pizza. Maybe for the sausage pepper and onion sub (without the red sauce) though. read more

Yesterday was my last trip to Upper Crust until someone in the kitchen figures out how to cook a fat boy pizza. I know it has a rather thick crust and just what I wanted BUT it needs to be COMPLETELY cooked, not raw dough. At the start the pizza was WARM that should have been my first clue. I sent the pizza back for the second encounter with the oven and when I received it back it was better but still not completely cooked/baked and it was a little warmer. Came during lunchtime ~12:30 during working hours for lunch, so time was sort of limited. I ordered a couple slices of pizza and my coworker ordered a burger with fries (waitress never even asked how he'd like his burger, but I digress..) Original waitress told us there was an error in the kitchen a half hour after the order, and that the meal was being remade, there is a couple and another small group here, so by no means is it slammed or backed up.. With no more time to wait we asked for our food to go. Different waitress brought our checks, running on an hour now, still, no food.. Original waitress nowhere to be seen.. I guess I just expected some sort of plain standard of expediency or efficiency for a pizza shop, considering there were probably 6 other guests.. Very good lunch. The Pizza Wrap is awesome! But, if you want to absolutely blow your diet and entertain your taste buds, GET THE UPPER CRUST PIZZA!!! I really do like The Upper Crust. It's a good three to three and a half star joint on Lady's Island. The servers are all generally high school to college age and always friendly. Seat yourself wherever you'd like. Food is decent, consistent, and the portions (one has a choice between lunch size or a larger dinner portion) generous. VALUE IS GOOD, particularly for a dine-in restaurant. My favorites include the eggplant parm, spaghetti with meatballs (and dare I admit it, meat sauce too), and the Frogmore Fettucine (alfredo sauced with shrimp and sweet sausage yummm). The salads are cold and large, and the pizza also a fan favorite. I do artichoke hearts, sweet sausage, and black olives - I'm guessing that's gonna' be just me - but it always hits the spot. It can get a little noisy and certainly falls on the casual side of things, which just means it's great for an easy night out, particularly if you've got kiddos. I'd recommend it. read more

Don't order unless you like mushrooms.. Had lasagna and had mushrooms all through the sauce..and the manager sucks

Well, I admit that we made a very bad choice of restaurants when we decided on this place. Some friends were here from out of town, and we ended up embarrassed, disgusted and sick. We found out AFTER eating some of the food that their sauce contains mushrooms, although there was no mention of this on their menu. Only one person in our party actually liked mushrooms. The rest of us do not like mushrooms and do not eat mushrooms. One of our friends actually ran to the bathroom, only a few feet from our table, and was violently ill and puking. Another one of them is terribly allergic to mushrooms and had to give herself an emergency injection from an Epi pen. The other ones, myself included, had to rush to the bathrooms at a gas station on the way home, and even though we had almost our entire meals put into to-go containers, we decided to toss them in the trash at the gas station. Several of us had found mushrooms as big as two inches in diameter. Knowing that we had eaten some of them really made us full of nausea. Here is the part that was really disturbing. When we asked to see the manager, she was very rude and said there was nothing she could do. When we suggested that she offer a refund, she refused. I told her that I must say that I never before had a manager argue with me, in front of other customers, over a problem with a meal. We have often dined at The Upper Crust in Okatee, SC, as well as the one formerly in Bluffton, SC that had since closed, and said that neither of them included mushrooms in their sauce. The manager acted very unprofessional and continued to argue with us. We finally had to walk out, only to see the manager inside the restaurant talking with other patrons and pointing to us, and causing everyone to look at us when we were out by our car. This went on for about five minutes. The whole experience was just unbelievably horrible! We have no intention of ever returning to The Upper Crust on Sea Island Parkway. read more

Me and my girlfriend came here looking for a good recovery from a horrible pizza we got from dominos the night before. We were kindly greeted upon entering once we eventually did find the restaurant on the back end of the nice strip mall. We loved our drinks but the real story was our pizza and the cheese triangle appetizer. So after my doctors appointment, I was craving italian food pretty badly, im 34 weeks pregnant. I drove around to a couple places but couldnt tell if they were open, I tried to call and no one answered. I called and they answered right away to tell me they were open! Anyhow, I showed up right as they opened and sat down right away, my server asked if I had anyone joining me and I told them I was facetiming my husband whos deployed for a lunch date. After all I didnt want to look crazy seeming like I'm talking to myself. Anyhow, I ordered my lunch and my server was really sweet and I we had a nice lunch together. I left out my card waiting to pay and my server told me she wanted to buy me lunch and to thank my husband for his service, that she couldnt imagine being in my situation and it must be really difficult but insisted lunch was on her. It really brought tears to my eyes at such an act of kindness and generosity. It was an entirely selfless act that the mere principle meant the world to me. It reminds me of why my husband deploys and makes being without him all seem worth it, because of people like her. I'm really at a loss for words but all I can say is that she restored my faith in humanity. If anyone is ever in beaufort or near by, this is the place to go!
