One of my favorite restaurants in Beaufort County was the first place I visited on the Sea Islands. However, today I felt taken advantage of. I have never been charged $1.50 for the white Parmesan sauce with my steak wrap in decades. If this is the new charge for the sauce, it certainly feels like a rip-off. We used to dine here frequently and most of the time we were very pleased with service and food. After quite a long hiatus we decided to get some take-out. First sticker shock - $50 for a medium pizza and a small Cajun chicken pasta dish that came with a side salad and bread. The pizza was fair but no where close to be worthy of the ridiculous price tag. The pasta dish was a complete disappointment. The noodles were overcooked, the sauce was pretty non existent, the chicken pieces were woefully overcooked, over spiced, dry and stringy. The bread was an unnatural yellow, soggy, with no hint of butter or garlic just grease. We will not be reordering again from this restaurant nor visiting it for dine in service. So sad. read more

We have had dine in and takeout from the upper crust. We have had a calzone as well as pizza. Both were delicious! The service is prompt and friendly. We sat in a booth near the entrance, and the traffic wasn't distracting. Our server was friendly and polite. The restaurant itself is tucked away off of Sea Island Parkway. There is another restaurant, near it, sushi, and a few other businesses. We will definitely return! read more

Really really overpriced food. I know there isnt a lot in the area and they can charge more, but geez, you wouldnt mind if the food tasted good. Also- stay away from the zeppolis. Clearly the cooks arent italian. Ordered them to-go. Got a box of bit size strips totally covered in white table sugar and cinnamon. So sweet they were inedible. This place was recommended to us. I made a to go order for my wife and I and the girl taking the order got the order wrong. Even after I repeated it to make sure. Whats worse than the wrong food, it wasn't good and the chicken was over cooked. I know why the order was wrong... it's because the girl working was socializing with 2 people in the restaurant. The restaurant had a total 4 people in it, and they can't seem do their job. Sad for the owners. They're obviously losing business. Met three friends today and ordered the shrimp salad wrap. It was inedible. The "wrap" was very thick, burned on the bottom, piece of tough dough. It had been cut in half and one side had a big chunk of cheese and no cheese in the other half. I counted a total of 6 very small shrimp. Wilted lettuce and not sure what else. I could not cut the wrap and it wasn't something to be picked up to eat. Being with my friends was the only good part ....will not go back. I did receive a 10% credit. read more

I called The Upper Crust from out of state to see if they could deliver an order to my friend's family as they are going through a tough time. They are just out of DoorDash range in Habersham, so I was concerned they may be too far. I explained the situation to the kind gentleman who answered the phone (who happened to be David) and he responded that he would personally make the delivery to Habersham to ensure it got there quickly and still warm. I was so touched by David's willingness to support members of the community and to go out of his way to ensure the family felt taken care of. Thank you David. The pizza taste is just ok and it's expensive for what you get. If you order a large specialty pizza, they start at $27. If you make your own combo, it costs almost $4 per topping and $6 if u want "specialty" ones. For the area, the pizza is good. I've found out it's hard to find a good pizza place in the area. For the price, I don't think it's worth it. Might as well go to Pizza Hut and save some money, but that may just be me, since I favor PH more than most pizza chains. 3 stars may not look like much, but it isn't a terrible review when your pizza expectations are as high as mine from living more up North, so don't let that detour you. Excellent food! I ordered the full size manicotti and my husband ordered the calzone. I asked to try the marinara and the meat sauce first before choosing which one would top my manicotti. I ended up going with the meat sauce but both were VERY good! I'm a bit picky about my red sauce so if it's too salty or bland I won't return to the restaurant. This sauce was AMAZING! Had a hint of sweetness to it and was thicker and not overly runny like some sauces can be. I was given a very healthy portion along with a good size salad of mixed greens, tomatoes, cucumbers and green peppers. I opted to leave out the olives and onions off my salad. My entree also included some delicious garlic bread where you could actually taste the garlic! So many restaurants lack in that area. My husband's calzone was scrumptious and filled with ricotta, mozzarella & pepperoni! It was baked perfectly. I had enough manicotti leftover to take home 2 1/2 pieces. For dessert we shared 2 cannolis. They were a good size albeit just a bit overpriced, I thought. $5/piece seemed just a tad steep. Our server was stellar. She stayed on top of things and always made sure we had what was needed. This is a quaint little place with great food, a comfy atmosphere and pleasant staff! Upper Crust totally deserves 5 stars! A great go to when the sleepy downtown scene in Beaufort isn't an option. My family and I have found our way here twice because most restaurants close at 8pm in Beaufort, leaving visitors few options. That said, I'm glad we found this gem. Ordered the "fat boy" pepperoni pizza. Was told by the waitress that "fat boy" meant deep dish so my husband and I were excited to try it. We got the pizza back and 50% of it was crust. There was about one pepperoni per slice and tons of sauce. We were very disappointed. The crust tasted good but it was such an overwhelming amount especially with the lack of cheese and pepperoni given. Before rating the pizza, I have to preface that I'm VERY particular about my pizza if it's not from NY. So in this case I ordered very light on the cheese, black olives and mushrooms. Abagail listened attentively and it was made perfectly. But, the quality was just meh- it wasn't the real deal. But most people would be most likely pleased with the quality. This was the first time my wife and I ate here. We had eaten at the Upper Crust in Bluffton SC, which we were told by the server that they aren't affiliated with them. I liked the atmosphere of the place, the building was only recently built, so it still had that "new" feel to it. Upon walking in there's a sign telling you to "seat yourself". (We chose the round table painted like a pizza.) Our server was pleasant and helpful; she answered all of our questions and was very responsive to us. Their beer selection was a little limited, they didn't have what I normally drink (Guinness). We found the food good, nothing spectacular. We shared the "Fried Mozzarella", it was about seven large pieces (very generous portion). My wife had a small meat lovers pizza (she enjoyed it). I had the "Philly Cheese Steak", they put marinara sauce on it, the sever did ask if I would prefer it on the side before they made it (It was good). Oh, what happened to the Upper Crust of old (when it was down the street in the small, shabby strip)? We used to have delicious, flavorful pizza and good drinks with fun pasta "straws". The last two times we've been there, the soda out of the fountain was awful (flat diet coke and the sierra mist was all syrup, no fizz). When we told the waitress, she actually said, "I know." What? Why did u serve it to us? Hey UC manager, learn how to adjust your soda fountain, please. We ordered a fat boy with different ingredients on each half; both sides were bland. Watch your bank statement if you eat here. I was charged not once, not twice, but three times for one meal which then overdrafted my account and I had to pay the $100 fee for that. When I called to ask to have it refunded they told me the manager wasn't there and wouldn't be until Monday. This was a Thursday. I told them they took everything left in the account and I urgently needed it refunded and they said they couldn't without the owner. I called again that Monday and was told the owner was gone for the day already but they refunded it (after I was told he had to be there?). I can't imagine knowing I caused someone to have to pay overdraft fees from charging their card wrongfully, multiple times and not trying to right my wrong. Never heard from the owner or even got as much as an apology, which I wouldn't have been upset about the overdraft that I had to pay because of them. Moral of all of that: if you want a $30 something dollar pizza to cost over $100, eat here! read more

My wife had been there before but I had not. So we decided to go so I could try it out. Everything was better than I expected! We ordered the garlic knots and the meatlovers pizza and I had a side of spaghetti. The garlic knots really good with crisp outer edges and a doughy center. The spaghetti was excellent and the meat sauce tasted homemade with very good flavor. The pizza was also fantastic and was better than most I have had before. The hostess and our waitress were both very nice and very good at their jobs. I absolutely recommend this place to anyone and plan on coming back on our next vacation! read more
