This is as honest a review as I can give, as rough as it may be. As of today I am in a room 15 degrees hotter than the rest of my unit (maybe 80 degrees), effectively not air conditioned at this point. My sink and bathtub do not drain effectively, and my toilet regularly clogs. I do not use any waxy products and do not have long hair, so this has to relate to the plumbing itself. My room is the size of some closets I have seen and barely fits the bed itself let alone any furniture. The giant "speedbumps" in the parking garage serve to violently jar and shake my vehicle (yes, even when going at or below the prescribed speed) which I suspect has contributed to some suspension damage and alignment issues. I know of multiple instances of vehicles being improperly towed despite displaying a university issue hang tag (with no refunds). The parking spots are also too narrow for a full sized vehicle and only fit compact cars effectively. Regular "fire drills" (read: room searches) from the university admin serve to limit any amount of peace that could be attained here. The wifi has no password (read: public access, unsecured) and is somewhat reliable, but don't bet on it working. The gym is pretty good, and that along with the staff is all I can really praise here. The building is actively falling apart with cracks in multiple walls, and I have been in multiple rooms with foul smells seemingly coming from the air conditioner ducts. I have effectively abandoned any concept of maintenance orders as none have been responded to despite emails, requests, and the dreaded "portal". The trash rooms are infested with roaches as well, but honestly that's the least of this place's worries. Oh yeah, and the train horn when you're trying to sleep. I have posed this review as honestly and cordially as possible. This is not intended as a hit piece, it is just my genuine experience here. I hope in coming years the university makes efforts to improve conditions here, even if it costs them some profits (rent here is higher than some mortgages). read more

What they are doing to our college kids is unacceptable! My daughter, like most college kids don't know to take pictures when moving in. For most this is their first time being away from home. When we moved my daughter out of the apartment, there were no stains or damage to her room. We get a bill for a " stain"( that was not there when we moved her out) on the carpet and scuff marks on a wall( that a magic eraser would have easily taken off, had it been there when we moved her out). Upon speaking to Haley, I was asked, does she have pictures proving she didn't do the damage? Of course not!! Well, she's responsible for it! I told her that neither were there when she moved out, her maintenance crew probably did it if there are marks there. The pictures she sent me or blurry, and no identification of it even being my daughter's apartment. This has nothing to do with paying for damages, if my daughter had indeed made them and they were there when I moved her out! In the picture with the stain on the carpet , it's not even a stain , it's a shadow of the person taking the picture! Not to mention how blurry these photos are, and the steep price tag they want to charge for these. When I said, you're charging this price for something that could be taken off with a magic eraser, and she said I can't speak on that! So that tells me if was probably wiped off and we are being charged for it being painted! Biggest thing is there were no marks or stains in her room when I moved her out. I love living at the Union! Ive lived here the last 2 years and renewed my lease to live here again for my senior year. The fitness center is super nice and not overcrowded. The pool is super big and is quiet during the wweekdays but fun on the weekends. Ive made lots of friends with other people who live here at the events the Union does and they also do giveaways which is cool. It feels super safe which is important to me (especially as a girl). The office staff are super nice and helpful, especially since there is a new property manager since the whole disaster when the building first opened. I also noticed in the last 6 months or so that the maintenance of the Union has gotten SO much better. Prices are comparitive to places like the Standard, Uncommon or West and Wright but I think this is so much nicer and its so much quiter than being right in the middle of downtown by the bars. This apartment is not a place anyone should choose to live. Upon moving in they did not have a mail key for me and promised I would have one by the end of the month... I moved in in August it is now April I ask every month and they have yet to make a mail key for me so I cannot get my own mail. Also when I moved in my air conditioning was broken and they did not fix it for the entire first month of me living there. In the last 9 months the air conditioning has broken seven times and they ignore the maintenance reports until all of us have called begging them to fix it. Along with that the rooms are NOT cleaned when you first move in. I had to deep clean my room, the residents before us left stuff in the apartment and it was still there for us to deal with when we moved in. It was DISGUSTING to say the least. The hallway rugs are stained beyond repair, there is an awful smell, the trash chute has bugs and other creatures all up in it, when I moved in a light was out for over a week, we were missing four exit signs on my floor alone, and the elevator wasn't up to code for the first month. If you live there also be aware that the walls are thin and there is a railroad right next to it. I wake up every night at least twice to the railroad honking its horn. Half of the gym equipment is broken so don't rely on using the gym and the garage spaces are so small and the garage is so dark that I don't know how there aren't more crashes. The students who work the front are also NEVER THERE it took me seven tries to get my packages before a manager was actually there to give me them. No one answers the phone and all in all the communication sucks and they don't respect the tenants at all. I pay over $900 in rent a month... you would think they'd be able to fix some of the problems. Instead I'm paying to live someplace that I am miserable. read more

My apartment was broken into 3 times and the front desk refused to help me and thought I was "I stupid college kid that forgot to lock my door" when a convicted rapist stole my key fob and they thought I lost it and wanted a free one. When the police were involve the management refused to help us. The outside of the apartment and pictures online are completely misleading. The trash shoots are absolutely disgusting and do not have proper maintenance. The apartment is tucked away in the most depressing corner of auburn. DO NOT LIVE HERE. read more

Agree with other reviews- do not live there. While the common areas are very nice, the apartments themselves were disgusting upon move in. Had to scrub the bathrooms and clean the entire place. Upon move in, there was a leak in the apartment above causing water damage and what looked like mold coming through the wall of the bathroom. They chose to fix it by painting over it each month and it kept coming back. My daughter continued to get sick and ended up with pneumonia- I moved her out 3 months after she moved in. Now, 9 months later they still refuse to hand over any proof it was remediated or admit it was potentially harmful, yet they sent in workers with hazmat suits on. The regional manager is flat out non responsive and has never to this day responded to emails or phone calls. They only care about money, health is of no importance. Really great paying rent for 9 months when her room is empty as I don't want my credit ruined. Horrible people, just horrible. read more

From day one this apartment complex has been a disappointment. The first words out of our students mouth's when we moved in "this is not what they explained to us in January when we signed our lease". Poor construction, the apartment was a mess at move in (completely dirty with a ton of dents and scratches everywhere). You could tell they rushed to get it done since they were late on their word for move in dates. Between maintenance issues not being resolved, move in coordination done horribly, and their inconsistency on how they treat their residents... nothing has been what was told to us. Billing is also a concern, be careful because they are shady when it comes to agreements and monthly billings. And don't try to contact the actual property management office (not apartment office), they won't respond to you. read more

It wasn't a tough decision for us on choosing an apartment for our student in the fall. The Union offers everything one could need. My son was sold on the brand new building, the 2 story fitness center, the pool and of course, the Jumbotron. As parents, a furnished, safe, worry free, clean apartment was our end goal. This being our 4th child we have had our share of panic calls that this or that broke, locked out, bike stolen, etc with unresponsive landlords. After speaking with a few of the apartment complexes in town we decided the Union was the best option. Everyone I have talked to in the leasing office has been exceptional and my questions are always answered. The rent at the Union is comparable to other buildings but the amenities are off the charts! This place checks all the boxes for us and living in CA so much less hassle with move in/out. read more

To rank this with greater than zero stars is dishonest to anyone reading this review. If it were possible to give a negative review I have never been in an establishment that would deserve it more. I have lived here for nearly seven months now and it has never failed to be a disappointment. With the exception of the students who work the front desk this building is an utter nightmare, from the torn up "brand new" furniture to the wifi that fails to work anywhere in the building. with monthly power outages, fire alarms, and trash piles through the halls this building is eerily reminiscent of an oversized fraternity house that forgets to pay the bills. I cannot convey this strongly enough, DO. NOT. LIVE. HERE. for nearly a thousand dollars a month you're better off in a refrigerator box in the street or even in one of the hundred year old buildings on campus. I wish this review existed when I signed for my "brand new apartment" but sadly all I can do is pray you don't make the same 11,000 dollar mistake I did. read more

There are a lot of reviews bashing the apt because of the whole initial move-in fiasco, since that probably won't happen to any other future residents here's my honest opinion of the place...it's okay, just okay. Which is to be expected of most student living apartments. The gym is pretty nice, lots of different equipment. The maintenance people (older men) will just pop in whenever without a proper notice so be careful. The staff is friendly and try to help you out as much as they can so that's cool. My biggest complaint...the noise. I get it, it's a college town there will be parties. But the pool is in the middle of the complex and has pool speakers with an aux cord that when used is like a whole concert is happening outside. It will be like the speakers are in your entire apartment. The frat boys love to play the same playlist of TikTok songs a LOT. Even if there are only 4 people at the pool, they will blast music and you will have to listen to it for hours. So if you're looking for a quiet place to do homework...this ain't it at ALL. It's been a major issue now during COVID as most classes meet via zoom and I constantly have to apologize on account of the noise in the background. Also, I expected a sort of older crowd (juniors, seniors, grad students) considering when I was a freshman I could not afford a place but that's not the case here majority of residents are freshman and sophomores that are constantly stealing each other's items (yes going into apartments and stealing) or the new one is getting into fights. read more
