I can't believe I am the first person to review Twisted Monkey! So nice to have this little gem in the neighborhood. The yoga studio is located where the Janie Rae Dance Studio is right next to the Fire Station across from Vincent's Pizza. Street parking is available. It's $10 a class, but they also have Living Social Deals and class cards, which give you classes free. They have hot yoga, yoga for beginners, vinyasa, candlelight yoga and mommy to be (prenatal)/ mommy and me yoga. They also have special events such as wine yoga (Yoga in a Bottle) and yoga in the park during the summer time. The studio has a neighborhood feel; it has holiday parties and is more intimate than Core Power Yoga etc. I've taken the hot yoga class, which is taught by Bill Sr - owner of the studio, and the intro to pranayama class, but I don't see that on the schedule anymore. Both were great! There are many things I love about this studio, but the fact that I've shown up 2-3 times for class only to be faced by locked doors without explanation is enough for me to take my mat elsewhere. This is the first day off I've had in almost a month and I chose to start it with a Meditation Flow class here, but no one was there to greet me. I called the number on the website and got Bill, who had no clue either. This is a tough one for me to let go but I have little choice as there is not much communication. read more

This was a very nice yoga studio! We went to Kitty Yoga, to benefit PAWS. I love that the studio did that fundraiser. $20 out of $25 admission went to PAWS. Very generous. The studio was clean, and the instructor was very nice and funny. The owner was also very friendly. The class itself was gentle, but with great stretching and a peaceful, relaxing atmosphere, thanks to the instructor. We had a great time! My only complaint is the same complaint I have with all yoga centers- I wish they had weekend afternoon or evening classes, so that I could take another class there in the future! I don't want to wake up early on the weekend! read more

I'm as beginner as they get. I've attended the beginner yoga and vinyasa yoga classes. Devin and Justine are my preferred instructors. Give it a chance. They have new student class cards. You get 5 classes for 25. Can't beat it. I love that it's not a monthly membership kind of thing. Yoga mats, blocks and straps are available free of charge. Charming studio that offers a variety of yoga classes! I'm a big fan of the power classes that Bill teaches. Everyone in the studio is super nice and helpful. I was tired on having to trek all the way to Center City for hot classes, lucky for me I stumbled upon this gem of a place. At long last I found a great studio to practice in. They offer mats, towels, blocks, etc. for convenience, however there are no showers on premises so be ready to change out of your wet clothes (hot yoga) after every class. The rates they charge are reasonable $90 for 12 classes or if you prefer to try it out first, they offer a $10 drop in fee (which is super cheap!!!!) The studio lies between the Fire and Police Stations, so needless to say the area is safe. read more

I love this place! The teachers are amazing. The atmosphere is inclusive & inviting. The yoga rocks. There are lots of different types of classes and at a variety of times to fit your schedule. I've brought several friends with me who are now hooked as well. If you are new, mention it to the front desk! You can buy a package of 5 classes for $25, new yogis only, otherwise classes cost $10. There is a hot yoga studio downstairs. Keep in mind you can't use your 5 for $25 and it's cash only in the hot studio. I recommend taking the $5 happy hour class-proceeds go to charity. Also the warm flow classes at 8:30 pm are challenging and fun. I can't wait to go again soon! read more

What a super, quaint, yoga studio! They offer a variety of different types of classes. I've participated in the Hot Yoga class, which was my first time doing it. It was exhilarating! The class was taught by Daniella, who is extremely knowledgeable, helpful and patient. It was perfect for a limited flexibility guy like me. My daughter, who is 5 years old, also participated in the Mommy and Me class, and couldn't stop talking about it. The Twisted Monkey is easy to get to on Huntingdon Pike (Rt. 232) next to the Rockledge Fire Department. I had no problem parking on the side street. They are extremely affordable. I think I paid $10, and I know they have promotions on Groupon and Living Social. I also frequently refer people from my business, as well as friends, and have only heard amazing reports! Very nice studio - actually 2 studios in the building. The downstairs one is for the "hot" yoga classes mostly taught by the owner Bill although Stephanie teaches one on Tuesday evenings. I haven't been brave enough to try one since am new - only been doing it since they had their first open house in early March - learned of it from my current chiropractor (Goodman Family Chiropractic - a great office, BTW). Was lucky enough to buy a student introductory card when it was still 5 classes for $25.00; on 3/22 it became 5 classes for $30.00 which is still a great bargain since drop-in rate is $10.00. A ten class card was $70; now it's $80.00 - but they still have 5 class cards for $40.00. They kept the "hot" class card rate steady @ 12 classes for $90.00. I was really sweating like a pig during last night's vinyasa class with Stephanie, even though it was not a heated room. Usually I go to Tanya's beginner's class on Wednesday evenings; she alternates with Sarah in teaching a beginner's class on Sunday mornings. All the instructors and people have met are very nice - and know what they are doing. They also provide yoga mats, blocks and straps for you to use. It's probably going to be more crowded, though with the recent closure of a studio in the Far Northeast. It's one block away from my vet's office & primary groomer (Rockledge Veterinary Clinic & Katie's Pet Grooming) and is next door to the firehouse on the Huntingdon PIke side. It's also next door to the Rockledge police station on the Park Ave. side so you know that you're safe - but you also have to watch your P's & Q's about parking - which is @ a premium around the area. The parking thing is the reason for the 4 instead of a 5 because I do enjoy going there - except the parking challenge. The steps entering the building (on the Park Ave. side) tend to be a tad steep - but then the street is on a downward hill. Update: Today (4/23/2016) I got to try out Sarah's introduction to yoga & meditation class. I wasn't disappointed. She does mostly gentle yoga and devotes 20 minutes to a directed meditation. She was very sweet and remembered me from the open house. All three instructors I was privileged to have a class with are very patient & caring. She's an alumna of the teacher training class they hold annually and a good article about Sarah appeared last summer on philly.com. I was amazed how perky and upbeat she was on a Saturday morning - especially in light of the fact she holds down a full-time job and also (I believe) teaches @ a location in NE Philly. I plan to be back to her class - as well as the others - whenever I can. Since the classes do change, I would recommend visiting their Web site to get the most up-to-date information on the non-heated and the "hot" classes. read more

I'm incredibly disappointed with the way they are now handling this business. I've gone here for a few years, and I was very happy when they started making additions and changes that was obviously furthering the business because I really did want them to succeed. However, now there seems to be a bit of greediness happening in the background of this quaint studio. They switched over to an App instead of their punch cards, which was a welcome change because, I thought, this would be a good way to keep everything in one place with no chance of losing my credits. But, apparently, the credits now expire within 3 months. So, I had six (5 I purchased via the app during their special, 1 from my punch card they took from me and added to the app), i have been away from practice because of an injury and all of my credits were expired. I reached out and they told me they would do me the "favor" of adding 5 credits as a show of good grace. I find that unacceptable. Why my injury should also cost me the classes i have paid for is beyond me. Currently, I am in the process of resolving this issue and will update when I do. However, I would highly recommend a different yoga studio, as I am currently searching for a different one once I use up these credits. read more

Love this place, the instructors, the class variety and the hot and warm rooms! I've yet to take a class I didn't like, even if I didn't feel especially warm and fuzzy with an instructor, and have a personal conversation (which was only once) I still got a great workout and always feel welcome. The staff here makes it a point to get to know you if you're willing, and are just as friendly to those that just want to come and go. My favorite instructors so far are Bill, Daniella, Sarah and Kim. They have everything available as well- many styles of yoga as well as ranges for the very beginner (even out of shape ones), to advanced levels. I love the opportunity to practice here. read more

The studio is located in Rockledge, which is only a few miles away from the Northeast section of Phila. The teachers are very helpful and knowledgeable and the studio offers both regular and hot yoga classes and yoga workshops. (I took one on healthy eating and detoxing your body which was very informative). One drawback is that there's only off-street parkingand sometimes it could be hard to find a spot. read more

There is a wonderful variety of classes for all practitioners of yoga whether it's a meditative sequence with Sarah, a goodnight chakra revitalization with Kim, a warm vinyasa chakra flow with Daniella, a kicked-up powerful challenge with Steph, or Bill's classic kundalini hot yoga downstairs, there is something for everyone and it is all wonderful.
