Love this studio. Lessons are great Arielle and Isabella are the best. All the teachers actually Highly recommend.

Would not recommend this yoga studio to others. After a year and a half away from in-person yoga classes and after relocating to Manayunk within the past few months, I was thrilled to try out this neighborhood spot that had come highly recommended by other Yelp reviewers. However, when I got sick shortly after signing up for my first two classes and sought clarification on the cancellation policy, I was met with a great deal of rudeness from the staff- who also attempted to charge me for the second missed class, despite failing to address my question about the cancellation window when initially asked. I ultimately decided to give the studio another try despite this and logged on to attend a virtual class a few days later. I waited for over a half hour for the instructor to arrive- but ultimately she was a no-show. I wrote to the studio to advise them of the no-show and to ask to be put in touch with the manager- but nobody responded. I then wrote a second message the next day and received a response that the instructor had an emergency and that I could sign up for another virtual class, instead- which was no adequate compensation in my case, considering I'd bought a monthly pass and was not being charged per each individual class. No apology nor additional compensation was offered, and my request to speak to the studio manager was ignored. The final straw came the next day when I received notification that the outdoor class I'd signed up for that night had been switched to indoors due to weather, with the caveat that any students to cancel as a result of the change in location would be charged a late cancel fee. Considering we are in the midst of COVID still and considering I- like many others out there- have a sick family member whose safety plays a role in all of my decisions, it is not yet feasible for me to attend indoor classes. The fact that the studio has chosen to enforce a late cancel fee for any student to cancel due to a location change at the studio's discretion- is not only poor business but disrespectful to the health and safety of their students and their students' loved ones. So that was the nail in the coffin for me. I have looked up several other yoga studios in the meantime, and many have a no-charge cancellation policy, regardless of how soon before a class a student may cancel. In these ever-changing, sensitive times, one would hope that a business trying to win the affections of the Philly community would be accommodating to their clients' needs and circumstances- but unfortunately, this was not the case here. And how sad, coming from a yoga community- one that should reduce stress and bad vibes, rather than causing them. Unfortunately I wasted $90 in this instance and never should have jumped to buying a monthly pass to begin with- but ultimately I'm glad to have learned early on that this was not the studio for me so that I could move on to a more accommodating environment. Hopefully this review will prevent others from making the same mistake as me. ADDITION: In response to my review I received the below comment, making excuses for the way the business is run and attempting to blame the customer for the cancellation issue. When somebody is not feeling well and has to search a website for hidden information, it is often easier to ask the studio directly for their policy. However, this question was disregarded and I was ultimately blamed for not following the cancellation policy that I had not been advised on when asked. It is in poor taste but typical for the response to this review having been to throw blame at the customer. Not in the least bit surprised. read more

My first class with Unity was the Friday evening Candlelight Flow. I was a bit nervous because I never know what I will get with a new studio and I haven't practiced in about a year. This class was touted as a "perfect way to unwind after a busy day" and with the room heated to 75 degrees, it definitely made for a comfortable environment. Because it was Manayunk on a Friday night, I had trouble finding parking and ended up arriving 2 minutes before class time instead of the requested 15. Melanie greeted me warmly and was very understanding. She showed me where I could store my bag and explained that the studio is trauma-informed meaning they have a card you face up or down next to your mat depending on whether you would like an on-hand assist. This was nice because there are times during class where I would like an assist and other times when I would not. I can simply flip the card throughout the class (as opposed to committing to one or another at the beginning). The candles were lovely and it wasn't so dark that I couldn't see what I was doing. They have a soft padded floor which was very easy on the knees and helped keep the room warm. The flow moved quickly and there were times when I needed to make adjustments, but I never felt judged or pushed. I could go at my own pace and comfort level which made for a genuinely relaxing experience. Overall, the Candlelight Flow lived up to its name! Melanie was a lovely instructor, explaining the moves well (never assuming I already knew them) which is what I expect for an all levels class. I've never tried a hot yoga class but I may have to after this experience. read more

Mind-shifting gentle flow with Lindsey! The studio is great, very comfortable and peaceful. (I may have tipped over a time or two when trying to balance, but the floor is soft and bouncy. : )) They also have a lot of outdoor classes. The goal is restoration there and not dehydration. Tuesday 10-15-19 was my first class at unity yoga. It was a all around great experience, with the staff and other yoga peeps . I am in Rehab phase of getting over a back injury. The class was a great help to wok my my needs to gain my flexibility back . Looking forward, to working with @brittemmanyoga again. along With the rest of the staff. Keep up the great work. I love Unity! The classes are great, with options for all levels and compassionate, knowledgeable teachers. I appreciate that they offer a trauma-informed approach and the work they are doing with the future recovery center in the same space. Highly recommend this studio! The leaders have done an amazing job setting the tone for a warm, welcome and safe environment for your practice. I've never been to a studio where I've connected w/ every instructor I've worked out with - but Unity's line-up is incredible! Took a 6am class with Sophie. She was so nice and a great instructor who played a perfect playlist during the flow. The space is really nice and the room isn't heated by heaters on the wall that blow hot air on you They have some kind of floor heat. So excited for this new space on Main Street! read more

I wish I didn't have to do this but STAY AWAY from this yoga studio. My belongings were stolen while I was taking a class and the owners have taken zero responsibility for it. The studio is not secure and the cameras do not work. They have done everything they can to only protect themselves. They are making me the bad guy and even stripped me of my yearly membership and yoga community so this doesn't get out and make them look bad. There is no compassion, no understanding and certainly no respect here. The opposite of what this studio claims to stand for and the meaning of yoga. Please avoid going here if you don't want your stuff stolen and then treated with complete disrespect. read more

Me and my roommates popped in last night for a class with Nicole. We showed up a little late, but the owner of the studio was super sweet and welcomed us up. She had us all signed up and in the class within a few minutes. None of us had been to a yoga class in quite some time and were all a little scared when we realized it was a hot yoga class. Nicole was so awesome and made sure to provide alternate positions making all of us in the class feel comfortable at whatever level we were at. After an awesome workout (read: we were all dripping with sweat) it ended with these super refreshing cold lavender cloths. Welcoming staff, inviting energy throughout the studio. I love this yoga studio! The teachers are great and really help you get to where you want to be with your practice. Some classes are fast paced with fun music and others are slower with calming music/none at all. There is something for whatever kind of yoga you are looking for. Nice, kind, and accommodating. They offer quality, complimentary mats to borrow. Took my first "power hour lunch" class with Sophie and she was super sweet. The sequence could've been much more challenging - was too basic and slow for my liking but I very much appreciated that I was able to try a class for FREE before committing. Love the vibes going on in this studio. The range of classes offered has something for everyone, whether you want to get a good sweat on, or want to go deep into mindfulness. I love there restorative and more "yin" classes, as the help me find joy and peace within a hectic work week. A super sweet addition to Manayunk, though it feels like it has been here for years! Whether there are 2 people in class or 10, the instructors are present, professional, and warm. Always a treat getting to fit in one of these classes in my schedule! There are a variety of classes and temperatures so that they really aren't kidding when they say it's for everyone!!! read more
