Set in the lovely setting of Buckland near The Tadpole bridge. The inside is full of welly wearing folk holding up the bar, every one brings their dogs into the the pub/restaurant, as if they are showing off that they are from the country!
I have drank many a pimms here and outside it is relaxed and peaceful. However this experience was not as pleasant. We booked a table under "Deacon" for 2.30 and we were asked if we caould move it to 2pm, this cut us short for time in other places but we made it for 2pm. No one greeted us but it is a pub after all so I found our name "BEACON" scrawled across a black board sign on the table (quite embarressing!)
We were then left to rot for the next 20 mins, so I helped myself to menus and went to get drinks from the bar.
About an hour later we got our very pricey starters each priced about £12. I ordered scallops on a vegetable puree. Not too bad, quite tasty and inventive but luke warm, hmmm.
Our maincourses were all good, everyone enjoyed the food, ranging from fish & chips, to seabass to lamb, all looked yummy. I ordered crab, and had to wait ages for the crackers and finger bowl, we were tired of waiting by this time it was in a very rich sauce which one made it rather messy!
We recieved no apology for the long waits and maybe if they had gone to the effort of apologising we would go back and give them another chance. But sorry that was your last! read more
